Skins's island, otherwise known as democraticunderground

Welcome to the official nominating thread for the Top DUmmies of 2013!

Nominations will be accepted from circa supper-time Thanksgiving Eve, November 27, 2013 until 10 p.m. (central time) Saturday, Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 2013.

Campaigning and voting will take place from circa breakfast-time Sunday, December 8, 2013 until 10 p.m. (central time) Wednesday, December 18, 2013.

The rules for voting will be posted on the official campaign thread, but one should be forewarned voting is by secret ballot only, and votes will be weighted.

Awards will be dispensed beginning some time Tuesday Christmas Eve, December 24, 2013 through circa supper-time Tuesday New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2013.  As there are fifteen awards to be given out, that means more than one will be posted during any single day, culminating in the top award, the Top DUmmie of 2013, in time for the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Past winners of the Top DUmmies may be found at http://www.conservativecave.com/index.php/topic,66225.0.html

There is no limit on the number of primitives one may nominate for the Top DUmmies, or any of the special awards.

Simply giving the name of a primitive will not constitute a nomination; every nomination must be enhanced with at least half a sentence describing the nominated primitive.

Any primitive who was present on Skins’s island any time during 2013 is eligible for nomination and election; this means that banned primitives and deceased primitives are also eligible.

If one is unsure of the specific identity or screen-name of a primitive, one should feel free to inquire on this thread.  It’s easy to get the primitives confused; s-o-o-o-o many of them look alike.

Groups of primitives but only for one spot on the rankings, are also eligible for nomination and election, but a “group” must be defined with specific parameters.

- - - - - - - - - -

Nominations are sought for:

(a) the Top DUmmies of 2013, for either having provided the most constant, the most reliable, amusement and entertainment for decent and civilized people throughout the entire year…..or for some really awesome act of primitivity.

The primitives voted top DUmmies #20-11 will be awarded one single collective prize; the primitives voted top DUmmies #10-01 will each be awarded an individual prize.

(b) the William Rivers Pitt award, the “Willie,” for the most-memorable primitive from any time since the founding of Skins’s island on January 20, 2001.

Primitives who’ve already won the Willie in the past are not eligible for nomination and election; it’s a one-time-only award.  The primitives not eligible are TomInTib, William Pitt, BouncyBall, nadinbrzezinski, and Alan Grayson.

Perhaps the easiest way to decide upon a candidate for this award, one could imagine a Mount Rushmore of the Greatest Primitives, Ever, being sculpted on the side of a mountain in Vermont--which four heads should be on there, and which one should occupy the position of George Washington as on the real Mount Rushmore?

(c) the Steven Dawes award, the “Steve,” for the primitive who proved his own worst enemy during 2013; usually, this means a primitive who wallduded himself, getting himself fired from a job because of comments made on Skins’s island, but it may instead include other sorts of behavior, such as that exhibited by last year’s winner, in which the primitive was his own downfall because he didn‘t pay attention to the advice and counsel of franksolich.

(d) the Robyn McGrath award, the “Rob,” for the primitive who, simply put, one found funny during the past year, provoking the most merriment and mirth; a primitive who wishes to be seen as authoritative and credible, but just isn’t bright enough to cut it.

(e) the Nadin Abbott award, the “Nadin,” for the primitive who exhibited the most “I am God”-like characteristics during 2013; the primitive who was never wrong, always right.  It’s not so true any more, but in the past, a primitive such as the rabid 0bamaite Prosense would’ve been a good candidate.

- - - - - - - - - -

This is being posted early so that all may become familiar with the rules; nominations open Thanksgiving Eve, November 27, 2013, circa supper-time.

Okay, I’ll open.  I have several nominations to make, but we got ten days, and so I’ll just start off with one, nominating a group, the moles on Skins’s island.  I’m really surprised nobody’s--including myself--ever thought to nominate them, because they do have a great impact on Skins’s island, considerably discombobulating the primitives.

And as God knows, the primitives need to be discombobulated; it’s a public service for the Good of Humanity that they get confused, dismayed, upset, vexed, angry, all bent out of shape, so as to render them pathetic and laughable, irrelevant in the serious business of politics and government.

By “moles,” I’m not including trolls, whose intention is simply to go in and make a mess of something, and then either leave or get kicked off Skins’s island.  That’s a different category altogether.

Moles are those who blend in with the primitives, saying all the right things, gaining their trust, and then manipulating them for one purpose or another, usually a noble one.

No one knows who the moles are; there exists no “mole central,” no mole clearinghouse.

And there are moles who are only a figment of the primitives’ imaginative paranoia.

Who gets credit for the Steve, the Rob, and the nadin award ?
I have my fingers crossed.
Or have these awards already been established before this year ?

Wow, this is hard.  I had to copy the list into a text editor so I could see what is whom is where...

a) Had nadin not iggied herself from DU, she would have been in the running for Top DUmmie.  But now, I nominate Doug Bulna just because he is so... Dumb.

b) William Rivers Pitt -- easiest category: TomInTib.  That guy taught J F'ing Kerry how to lie!

c) Steven Dawes award -- Doug B from above.  He is the perfect fit

d) Robyn McGrath award -- gotta go with nads on this one.  Her every post is comedy gold

e) Nadin Abbott award -- I had to think hard on this one.   After some back and forth with Franksolich I understood the award vs. the person.  But when I apply the criteria, nads still gets my nod for her eponymous award

Just my 2 cents...

The Steven Dawes award, the "Steve," was created last year, and the big guy in Bellevue won it.

There can be repeat winners for all but the William Rivers Pitt award, the "Willie," which has existed since 2009.

The Robyn McGrath award, the "Rob," was created last year, and cousin nadin won it.

The Nadin Abbott award, the "nadin," is new this year.

Your two cents is good, sir.

But remember, there's twenty top DUmmies, so you can nominate more, if you wish.

It's just that there's only one winner each for the special awards.

Ah !

I was grievously disappointed that the Bostonian Drunkard did not win the Willie the first year it came out, but I guess I got only myself to blame.  That year, Mr. Wiggum and I determined the winner ourselves, never having put the Willie up for a popular vote.

I forget why we didn't put it up for a vote, but I think we were running out of time or something.

Mr. Wiggum suggested the lying tits primitive, and after much prayer and contemplation--I take these things seriously--I couldn't disagree.

The other disappointment was that my twin Atman didn't win the award named for him either; the cousin did.

The big guy from Bellevue however, came through, being the first winner of his own award.

I'll be taking off for a bit, but before I forget (and I've forgotten sometimes)--I want to nominate the sparkling old dude, Stinky the Clown, for the Willie, given to one's most-memorable primitive of all time (not just this past year).

The sparkling old dude is finis, gone; he'll never show up on Skins's island again.

So there's no chance he'll ever be a Top DUmmie again.

However, it wouldn't be a Top DUmmies contest without an award to the sparkling old dude; he's gotten one more times more years than any other primitive.

I always enjoyed writing the awards for the sparkling old dude, and I'm sure he enjoyed reading them.

In fact, it appears that with his award for #02 Top DUmmie of 2010, his business partners printed off thousands of copies of that award, to be included in mail-solicitations for more business, so as to show how well-connected they are, how they're people who get things done for the client.

I really really think that when the final chapter of Skins's island is written, the sparkling old dude will stand out as one of the more memorable primitives.

My first time nominating.  I'm in hopes Amber would win DUmmie Harlequin romance of the year or at least DUmmie head injury of 2013.  Loconuts ought to win something just because he has managed to accomplish less than nothing over the year.  All in for Doug as the top DUmmie.

Did I miss a purge? What happened to Stinky?

Old age, marital unbliss, and the decline of the cooking and baking forum.

The sparkling old dude is 66 years old, and has not been in great health for a while.

Now, sixty-six isn't really "old" unless one's been a bon vivant, a high-liver on the soft and easy life, in which case the richness and decadence takes its toll.  It's the same thing as eating nothing but chocolate cake all day, every day.

If the sparkling old dude had varied his diet a bit--Italianate cuisine is great, wonderful, but one can have too much of a good thing--and cut out the booze, he'd probably be in great shape today.

Karma's caught up with the sparkling old dude, too; he'd been married to a woman who loved him very much, but as they both got older, she got stouter and more hirsute and more wrinkled--which doesn't take away from that she loved him very much.

He dumped her for another woman, his current wife, considerably younger than him.  Well, she's thinking that in his old age, the sparkling old dude isn't so great any more, and has been spending more "social time" with Mrs. Tutweiler down the street.

The sparkling old dude used to be a prolific poster in the cooking and baking forum, providing decent and civilzed people with much amusement and entertainment, but ever since dear old sweet Lu took it over it's gone stagnant under her non-leadership.  The cooking and baking forum is withering away, because dear old sweet Lu doesn't think it's necessary for her to do any work to keep it animated and lively.

One can, easily, see the sparkling old dude's attitude--"Well, if dear old sweet Lu's not going to post and things, why should I?"

I'm sure we'll see the sparkling old dude on Skins's island once in a while, here and there, but for the most part, he's gone.  And it's too bad, because he was always one of our most prolific producers for inventory for the DUmpster.

Who would have known that the DUmmies would have taken Marie Antoinette so seriously.

In his earlier days, when the cooking and baking forum was in its prime, the sparkling old dude betrayed constantly that he was always dining upon the richest, most-calorie-laden Italianate cuisine (pizza with 8" toppings of dead fish, whatnot).

Italianate cuisine is great, but one can have too much of it, especially if it's slathered with copious grease.

The guy was making bacon look low-cholesterol.

He should've varied his diet with English cookery, and cuisine from the Sandhills of Nebraska, and cut out the booze.

My nominations...

Top DUmmies:

nadin: She who knows everything and has done everything…I think she was even almost correct once.
Dainbramaged: He lived up to his name.
Lady Freedom Returns: Run for the hills she’s returned and looking for handouts!!!
Taverner: Because when you’re too ridiculous for the home of the ridiculous what does that say about you?
LinkSpeed: Or whatever was TiT’s latest name.
(edit to add: Seabeyond) I need help for this last one. I don’t remember her name. She’s a bitch (and I rarely use that word) who makes other femanazis seem like good hearted individuals.

The Willie:
Steve Dawes. He’s run for so many other things. Maybe he’ll be successful again and show that winning the “Steve” wasn’t just a one-time thing.

The Steve:
Dainbramaged: He saved people from Fox News and his employer from himself all in one swoop.

The Rob:
Lady Freedom Returns: She’s making herself an expert on being homeless and unemployed. Wonder what the retirement plan is like?

The Nadin:
Nadin: No other DUmmie comes close.

Seabeyond, perhaps?

I pretty much stopped paying attention to the women's libbers on Skins's island after they eviscerated my twin Atman, and nearly got him banned.  Some of these old cows are so hate-filled they need kicked in the teeth, though.

After the first 24 hours of this thread, the following primitives have been nominated; a summary is given circa supper-time every day, until the close of nominations.  The list tends to grow the fastest the last five days; at this side of the calendar, it's a holiday, and so many aren't around to nominate.

Top DUmmies (of which 20 are to be elected):

Dain Bramaged
Lady Freedom Returns
Link Speed
Loc0nuts
the moles
Seabeyond
Taverner

the Willie:

Omaha Steve
Stinky the Clown

the Steve:

Dain Bramaged

the Rob:

Lady Freedom Returns
nadinbrzezinzki

the Nadin:

nadinbrzezinski

The lying tits primitive for the Willie has been rejected; not eligible (see rules).

Got it.

I have to confess that I worry very much about the primitives nominated, because once in a while someone nominates a primitive with whom I'm not exactly familiar, and if the primitive wins, I have to write the award.

But in another sense (besides this lack of information--although don't anybody neglect to nominate a primitive even if franksolich doesn't know much about the primitive; nominate away), there's three primitives for whom I'm on pins-and-needles all during the nominations; these are the primitives I least want to write about, and every night for ten days, I pray that they don't get nominated, so I won't have to worry about writing about them.

One of them is Elad, the elusive enigmatic Elad, the number three man on Skins's island.

<<<couldn't write half a paragraph about Elad.

The second is my fellow alum Skins; because of our old school tie (we were both taught by professors from Yale, he in New Haven and I in Lincoln), there's a certain affinity, a certain fondness, between the two of us, that I couldn't write objectively about Skins; it'd come out reading like a publc-relations release.

The third is my old pal Manny, the Manny Goldstein primitive; I've met him in real life, and despite that his politics are stupid, he's probably one of the most charismatic, charming, seductive people one can hope to meet.  No way in Hell could I write about my good pal Manny; I'd have to resign, and let someone else do it.

So you've noticed Stinky's disenchantment with the DUmp . . . so have I, and it doesn't sound contained to the baking forum, either:

 Stinky The Clown (52,653 posts)

This is the only group on DU that has unconditional love as its focus.

 This discussion thread is pinned.
I think it is also fair to say that anyone who regularly posts in this group knows that love with their own pets.

The love our pets show us, and the love we show them, is quite special. It is unlike anything else. The word pure comes to mind. Speaking for myself, I often wish we could deal with the humans in our lives with the same freely given, unencumbered care we show our pets.

In that spirit, I get a little sad to see some of the recent threads in this group, where interpersonal antipathy seems more the marrow of the thread than a discussion of our pets.

Tolerance for opposing views, and respect for each other, would go a long way to bringing the group back to what it was.

There is simply no way we will all agree on all matters pet. Neither is there much hope that we can change minds in any substantial way, particularly on the bigger issues. For example, while Sparkly and I would never, ever, choose

http://www.democraticunderground.com/116114042

and I think he's having marital problems, too - just a hunch. Mike is a great nominee for the Pitt, though.

Few more names for the top twenty:

grasswire (perennial favourite)
gopiscrap (heh)
Loc0tus AND denninmi (still mix those two up)
and PeggyinCalifornia (for her response to Doug in THAT thread alone)

So you've noticed Stinky's disenchantment with the DUmp . . . so have I, and it doesn't sound contained to the baking forum, either:

Yeah, the sparkling old dude cares very much for his dogs, for which one has to give him credit.

A man who likes dogs isn't all bad.

There's something else here, too.  When the late Tangerine LaBamba showed up here in the middle of the night on December 17, 2009 (a date seared in the memory), she spilled the beans on primitives, telling all about so many of them.

However, when I pressured her for information on the sparkling old dude, she said "no," the one and only "no" she said to me.  She said she didn't want to talk about the sparkling old dude, out of affection for him.

One wondered what was up with that.  She was so free and loose with information about lots of other primitives, but seemed insistent upon protecting the sparkling old dude.

I always wondered why that was.

At first, I thought it was because she and the sparkling old dude were really really really good friends.

Then later, it occurred to me; both the sparkling old dude and she were of Italianate derivation, and one has to remember that among the sparkling old dude's business associates, there's Luigi the Head-Knasher, Scarface Alphonso, Peppone the Leg-Breaker, Leering Giovanni, &c., &c., &c., and unlike those of us of non-Italianate derivaton, she knew what that meant.

Is it possible to nominate the same person for Willie, Steve, Rob, and Nadin?

Yes.

The only deal about the special awards is that a primitive can win the Willie only one time, and can't win it any more after that.

Other than that, one can repeat, but realistically, I'm not seeing that any previous winner of any of the previous special awards is going to repeat this year.

<<<could be wrong, though; has been before.
Title: Re: nominating thread for the Top DUmmies of 2013

I'm nominating another group for a spot in the Top DUmmies of 2013 (as a group, not as individual primitives), the cooking and baking primitives, who in the past provided much entertainment and amusement for decent and civilized people.

Alas, however, the cooking and baking forum seems on the decline; once perhaps the largest and most animated of all the small forums on Skins's island, this past year it's started to collect cobwebs, as more and more of the cooking and baking primitives wander away to other places because of the lack of leadership under dear old sweet Lu, who thinks her job as hostess there is simply to be the queen bee, regally sitting on her rear end as the drones do all the work.

And so I may very well be nominating a "has been" or "once was" rather than a "currently is," for a spot in top DUmmiedom.  But still, the cooking and baking primitives need some recognition for their contributions to our daily laughs.

Many of mine have already been put in the top Dummies; I will however also submit Bains Bane or jugs for top dummies. Her incessant hatred of all things male and total intellectual dishonesty on crime depending on which race perpetuates it just makes her classic dummie material. She's like every bad assumption of a liberal all rolled up in one: man-hating, racist, pseudo intellectual wasting money in the halls of higher education. She's just classic. At the same time she's a walking contradiction in that her appearance and how she presents herself could easily be seen by many men as a guy magnet--she accentuates her tits, has bold red hair, and looks to be of ample height and curvy--all of which is accentuated as if she is daring all you 'rapists' to even look at her.  :lmao: Kind reminds me of professor bugman who hasn't been around in a while.

The “Willie,”- Toss-up between Redstone and the pittstain. I gotta go with Redstone.

The “Steve,”- None other than Doug Bulna AKA Dainbramaged. Nothing I can say that isn't already known.

The “Rob,”- The once and future King, Taverner. I think that he found out that he wasn't as smart as he thought he was.

The “Nadin,”- I hate to do it but no one stepped up to challenge the bald dwarf. gNads it is.

DUmmies for the coveted award. No particular order as the vote totals will determine the rankings.

1-Lady Freedom Returns- Her aspiration in life is to go to a wigwag in the dessert from a single wide trailer.

2-Doug Bulna- His legacy will live in infamy. Redefined "walldude."

3-graham4anything- First DUmmy to bring up the idea of repealing the 22nd Amendment so as to allow the HMIC to run for a 3rd term.

4-PhDD- Jugs- Boobs for brains- whatever.

5-Gun Control Reform Activism (Group)- Their iggy list is as long as Dougie's (Jugs weaseled herself into a host position)

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=about&forum=1262

6-Crazy bald dwarf- Just imagine, two DOTY's and a Pulitzer all on the same shelf.

7-Cali- The old broad takes a lot of shit but dishes it out without wilting.

8- SidDithers- Not for any particular post but for the one liner replies he gets in. If the DOTY was an Academy Award, he'd get a lifetime achievement award.

9-Bennyboy- Gives a new meaning to the word parasite.

10-Manifestor_of_Light- For being the DUmps biggest bitch.  Doesn't deserve to live.

You know, I'm starting to worry that the cousin's pretty much deserted Skins's island.

Yeah, she's been seen a couple of times the past couple of weeks, but they were only quickie drop-ins, nothing of substance.

I think, like the sparkling old dude, she's slowly bailing, soon to be seen no more.

The same for Den-Den, Dennis the Menace.

Which would be an unspeakable tragedy, as the DUmpster needs comedy material.

I look at it as an opportunity. It'll allow new DUmmys, formerly lumpenprimitiven, to rise above their previously lowly station and shine. Bring a new dimension to the DUmp, as it were.

Frankly, seeing the same names over and over is getting a little tedious. One just has to see (for example) the names nads, the Masturbating Nemesis, Mrs. Dorkio or Billy the Pitt in a subject line to know what is coming next.

Like stale bread it may be edible, but not satisfying.

Nutcase nadin has been briefly, temporarily occupied in the shithole south of Texas, attending to a family problem.

Despite world-class, state-of-the-art, free, single-payer medical care  in mexico (have you ever seen an unhealthy mulching technician?), her brother allegedly bought the farm, bit the big burrito, passed away.

So nadin was called away maybe ten days ago to help get him buried.

She has only posted a few times from the shithole due to the unreliable nature of electrical supply in that superior, world-class country.

Be assured, the "award-wining" journo will return to the Dump momentarily, with a vengeance.

Her temporary absence should not be allowed to detract from her candidacy and no one should forget the overwhelming body of her 2013 work.

Her arrogance, condescension, pettiness, ignorance, comical English, and absolute refusal to ever concede even the tiniest mistake make her an incomparable candidate for her second Dummy of the Year award.

Like stale bread it may be edible, but not satisfying.

Here's one for you, one I've been itching to make; NYC_SKP, Skippy from New York City.

I don't think anybody's ever paid attention to him, despite that he exhibits the principal characteristics of primitivity with the exception of, perhaps, extravagant embellishment.  Otherwise, he's the perfect primitive.

I never paid attention to him myself until a few months ago.  Up until then, I'd always dismissed him as merely one of the lowly lumpenunterprimitiven, the faceless lynch mob, no different from any of the other indistinguishable nobodies.

But a few months ago, the primitives were talking about name changes made back in early 2009, and Skippy had the bad manners to mention that franksolich had made a mistake when compiling the list.

Making up that list of name changes involved my culling through 5300 primitive screen-names to find all those who'd changed theirs; it was a lot of work, a lot of time and trouble, laboring a mountain to bring forth a mouse, but given the grievous peril the primitives pose to the republic, to this nation, to all things good and decent, to humanity in general, what with their dark seditious and criminal sentiments, it had to be done.

The price of liberty is eternal vigilence.

That was more than four years ago, that I compiled that list, which of course has since become unimportant.  It's still here simply because unlike Skins's island, conservativecave doesn't try to erase history by deleting threads, even if they're valueless any more.

So.....out of circa 5300 names, I made one mistake.

One lousy crummy little mistake.

What is that?  An error rate of one-half of one percent?  One-half of one-tenth of one percent?  One-half of one-one-hundredth of one percent?  One-half of one-one-thousandth of one percent?

I think that's a pretty negligible error-rate, one out of 5300.

So Skippy had the effrontery to point out I made one whole ****ing mistake.

If Skippy knew how to win friends and influence people, rather than chortling "ha-ha, franksolich made a mistake," he would've instead said "oh, wow--franksolich made only one mistake; that's awesome, only one mistake."

The boy needs to learn some manners, if he wants to get along.

DOTY:

rsmith6621-  for delivering lame bouncies like the mailman delivers junk mail

William Pitt-  for being a falling-down drunk for another year

fizzgig-  the naked shaved head primitive who recently may or may not have hopped around in the sack with frank

OmahaSteve- a perennial election loser

I would also like to throw in two other primitive groups for DOTY nomination:

First, the primitives who attack the other primitives when they post their Kenyacare horror stories.  Here is a thread by another primitive condemning this mob's attitude: http://www.conservativecave.com/index.php/topic,92518.0.html  (I don't have a name for this group.  Perhaps someone else could think of something.)

Secondly, the WishaDU mob.  This group includes all beggars and their enablers.  Examples would be  Amber, Stewert, Atomic Kitten, and a whole host of other begging primitives and those that run WishaDU who post threads admonishing the primitives for not giving enough.

The “Willie,” -- I gotta go with Redstone.

You know, I've always been a big advocate of Chief S itting Bull, the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive, being permanently and foreverly enshrined as the Greatest Primitive, Ever.

(http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad335/photoatcc/redstone.jpg) (http://s949.photobucket.com/user/photoatcc/media/redstone.jpg.html)

Chief S itting Bull personified every principal characteristic of primitivity, being foul, arrogant, angry, bitter, irrational, hate-filled, stupid.  But mostly arrogant.  He had a real problem with impulse-control.

He died, reportedly, by his own hand two years ago.

I dunno where it's at here, but I wrote a eulogy for him that I'm sure his widow had it printed, laminated, and inserted into her Bible for solace and comfort in her life without him.

I tried getting Chief S itting Bull the Willie, but never could.

Perhaps this year's his year.

I'm going to nominate this primitive for the Willie too; the late red round one:

"The cACA Lemmings"

"The Wishadupes"  (that actually sounds like it would make a good name for a band-  maybe Taverner could start it!)

* * * * *ANNOUNCEMENT FROM franksolich* * * * *

Pending rule change; I have to first clear it with Mr. Wiggum, as it involves an extra award, meaning he'd have to count more votes.  (All I'd have to do is write an extra award.)

There's been an unanticipated deluge of groups of primitives nominated for a spot in the Top DUmmies awards.

I'd figured I'd be the only one to nominate any groups, of which I've nominated two, hardly an unmanageable number.

Well, I was wrong.

If too many groups win one of the top spots, it'd be a disincentive for individual primitives to exert initiative on their own behalfs, and we don't want that; we like it when each primitive asserts his own self, because it's more comedy.

The Top DUmmies, twenty to be selected, will be individual primitives only.

And then a new award, for the top group.

That is, if Mr. Wiggum approves, as it'd mean more work for him.

Also, please remember that this year, the votes for the top DUmmies will be weighted.

I like that idea.  I really hummed and hawed over nominating those two groups, and almost didn't do it, but they were so prolific this year, I couldn't help myself.

Two categories also prevent another twist from happening: double credit.  Say for example that Amber begs on WishaDU.  Not only is she raising her own chances, but also the chances of the Wishadupe group.  This is an unfair advantage, and makes her stupid action count for double.

Right.

And in case one thinks, "hey, hey, hey, what's up with this, franksolich changing the rules in the middle of the game?--it shouldn't be done that way"--one should think again.

I can't think of a single year in which I've been involved, that the rules or standards haven't been modified in the middle of the process. We're not primitives here; we adapt, evolve, and alter if unexpected circumstances demand it.  The bottom line's the actual ballot (coming Sunday, December 8); anything before then's subject to change if change is desireable, and those changes clearly communicated.

I would like to nominate someone based on their anti-gun position and have considered several canidates for the position. In LBN and GD there are three (3) standouts, Hoyt and alp227 are two but they cannot hold a 45 ACP round to onehandle when it comes to the dedication to taking rights of citizens to make himself feel good about the fact that he cannot legally own a firearm.

True, onehandle isn't of top DUmmy caliber but he deserves credit for turning his personal obsession into a true artform. Thus I throw out onehandle for consideration.

Great nomination.

And that reminds me; I need to nominate the William769 primitive for the top DUmmies too.

I had high hopes for Wills the first time I ran into him; he seemed a multi-talented sort of person, who could provide amusement in all sorts of different areas.

But as usual with first impressions (at least my first impressions), Wills turned out one of those one-issue primitives; he's obsessed with only one thing.  Nothing else matters.  Talk about a one-track mind.

However, I think he's worthy of a place in at least the bottom half of the top twenty DUmmies.

There's a few also rans that started out the new year with potential but quickly fell out of favor as the snow melted. Hockeymom is one such DUmmy.

As to groups, Jugs would be the recipient of the award from the anti gunnies if it won as she managed to usurp control of the group. If not this year, 2014 will be a banner year. I plan on giving them a lot of exposure.

fizzgig--the naked shaved head primitive who recently may or may not have hopped around in the sack with frank

For the first time, I've hit a speed bump on nominations.

This one, sir, I'd like you to reconsider; you may be judging her upon how I described her in "the brain-damaged primitive spends Thanksgiving with franksolich," rather than how she's presented herself on Skins's island.

If, after consultation with God, you still think she needs on the ballot, so be it, and she will be.

This troubles me greatly.

When I was writing "the brain-damaged primitive spends Thanksgiving with franksolich," I needed a primitive to provide inspiration for writing of the seduction of franksolich.  I briefly contemplated using Ms. Piggy, the "msanthrophe" primitive, as the inspiration, but the thought of that sour sau groping any part of this body vomited me.

By sheer random chance and luck, the choice then fell upon the fizzy one, who is of course much more aesthetic, and a nicer person.

As mentioned frequently in that story, one was not to draw conclusions about the character and conduct of the fizzy one from what I was writing; I was simply using her as the inspiration.

This has since caused me no end of grief and sorrow and lamentation, that I may have impugned the good name and reputation of a primitive for whom I feel no animus (which is a rather rarified group, by the way).

Well now, seriously, nobody was duped last year.

It was only that someone was especially talented at moling.

Look at the list of past winners of the Top DUmmies.

How does one know for sure that none of those other winners weren't moles?

I'm pretty confident that at least five or six of the hundred or so past winners since 2005 were moles--including the famous bobolink primitive.

Let me clarify my nomination a little better.  I didn't mean to imply that her hopping around in the sack in the walrus' story had any influence on my nomination.  I look at her as sort of being a part of the lunatic trifecta: dennis, locoNuts, and fizzgig.

Obviously, she pales when compared to the twin ivory towers of lunacy found in dennis and LocoNuts, but she's still a lunatic in her own right, and I think deserves a nomination for her hard work this year.

I just threw that part about hopping around in the sack in there because it was a good excuse to type "hopping around in the sack".

Title: Re: nominating thread for the Top DUmmies of 2013

There's two different criteria one can use for determining a top DUmmie.

They're both exactly equal.

One is the primitive who provided the most steady, the most consistent, flow of amusement and entertainment during the past year.

That has been, unquestionably, my cousin nadin.

The other is the primitive, otherwise pretty bland or boring, who did something spectacularly stupid, and it blew one's mind away, it was so.....stupid; one singular act that overshadowed all else.

That has been, unquestionably, the brain-damaged primitive.

Both criteria are exactly equal.

However, since walrus-face is likely to win the Steve anyway, as it now stands, franksolich is foursquare behind cousin nadin for number one, and the brain-damaged primitive for number two, when it comes to the top DUmmies.  And keep remembering, votes for the top DUmmies are weighted.

By the way, what is so unusual about the phrase "hopping around in the sack"?

It's a common phrase around here, in the Sandhills.  I've used it since I was a little lad.

Also, there's "making nice-nice," sex between a married couple, and "making naughty-naughty," sex between two people who aren't married to each other.

By the way, before I forget, I want to nominate my twin, Atman, for the Rob.

The guy hasn't yet won the award named for him.

Atman long ago slipped from Top DUmmie material, not even worth twentieth place, but still, whenever he shows up on Skins's island and tries to act as if he knows anything about something, it makes the abdomen sore for hours, from having laughed and guffawed so much.

And also before I forget--I'm taking off for a bit--I want to nominate my fellow Nebraskan, the big guy in Bellevue, for one of the slots among the Top DUmmies.

The big guy's been less productive than in the past, which I assume is because cops all over Nebraska seem to be reading, and appreciating, him.

And that limp-ass run for the city council this year was a dud.

So no, Omaha Steve doesn't deserve to be ranked as highly as he has in the past, but still, somewhere in between #08 Top DUmmie and #20 Top DUmmie, somewhere in there.

I wouldn't waste one of my weighted votes on him, though.

I can't recall ever hearing or seeing it anywhere before arriving here at CC.

The phrase fits both your composition style and the primitive's flippant view of sex like a glove, and makes me laugh every time I see it.

Okay, let me ask you this; this is a serious question.

It may've been strange to you, but the first time you read it, though, you knew exactly what it meant, right?

I have a reason for asking that question.

Oh, absolutely, even without the context it was given within (either calpig or nads sack-hopping, I believe).

Oh, absolutely, even without the context it was given within (either calpig or nads sack-hopping, I believe).

The reason I ask that is because Nebraska's best writer, Mari Sandoz, was constantly rejected by publishers in New York City and Boston because they insisted "Nebraska Sandhills English" was too alien-sounding to be comprehended by outsiders; that it grated on the ears, that nobody could understand it.

Which didn't explain why her books were vastly popular in England, from which the Sandhills are even more remote than the effete eastern establishment bastions.

I suspect they really rejected her because she wasn't part of them.

Anyway, this new movie that recently came out, "Nebraska," is being hailed by the critics as a masterpiece, as a possible winner of Academy Awards.  It's famous for its exhibition of the plain unadorned Nebraska English, and course other than the main actors and actresses, the cast consists of native Nebraskans.

If someone sees this movie, can he or she tell me whether or not we're "hard" to understand?

I agree the OmahaSteve has really dropped the ball this year but I'm leaning towards Rob for the Rob again. I'd like to make a few more nominations for top dumnies while I'm here -

And NYC_SKP, as you probably know, has a mole posting here daily, mocking the gullibility of decent and civilized people.

No, I don't know; I've heard that rumor before, and have been on the lookout for the longest time, and never seen any indication that Skippy hangs around here, in disguise.

Now, I'm not the brightest bulb in the light-sockets, but I'm around here s-o-o-o-o much I think I'd "pick up" on something that seemed suspicious.  It hasn't happened.

If someone exposed Skippy being here, it'd be a major coup, and franksolich would be in debt to that person for the rest of his life, Skippy's so nauseous; his condescending attitude drives one nuts.

And too, I don't believe Skippy has the balls to hang around here, even if in deep disguise; being a primitive, he has a yellow streak.

Thank you, Sheriff Taylor, the dad I never had.

I probably owe more to Andy Griffith and the skills he portrayed as a father on the Andy Griffith show for my upbringing than to any other male figure ever alive.

I came up on a defunct due to death asparagus ranch, raised by grandmother in a home with mom and sister, four years older, and attended a two-teacher eight-grade school.

Like Mayberry, I was raised in a rural setting, without even running drinking water (we had to go to a well to refill what fed a single kitchen spigot).

We had a Black and White TV that my mom bought my grandfather with her first paycheck.

Three years and 14 days younger than Ron Howard, Opie was the boy I longed to be.

And Andy was the dad that I never had, but for lack of any other came to teach me values, and morals, and kindness and goodness, and how to be happy with just the way things are, and without preaching about it.

Thanks, Sheriff. Thanks, Pop.

Rest In Peace.

(about six hours later, I guess)

Okay, sorry for having quoted Skippy and left; a friend was here working on a piece of farm machinery late at night, and needed my help out in the garage for a bit, after which I just went to bed, forgetting all about this.

That piece by Skippy, above, is a rare piece of primitive writing; in fact, it's almost a collector's item, in that there's not a single mistruth or distortion in it.  Every bit of it's true, although I fail to see why his having attended a "two-teacher eight-grade school" was a handicap, something he apparently thinks indicative of a deprived youth.

And the part about the black-and-white television.  I'm not clear on this, because television was never a part of my own life, and Skippy and franksolich are, roughly, from the same era.  I could be wrong, but I always assumed that from, say, circa 1958-1968, while color television was available, really, black-and-white television was the "norm;" one was more likely to live in a home that had the latter than the former.

Skippy also once wrote a most-excellent piece about his grandmother wringing necks of chickens and defeathering them, which struck me as a sure indication of utter poverty; I have no doubt the windows in his house had those tacky pull-down shades instead of draperies or venetian blinds, and maybe some of them were torn.

Skippy apparently later in life made contact with his absent father, and apparently was with him when his father faded away from this time and place.  Some months ago, when the locust primitive was whining about his own paternal ancestor, Skippy posted a photograph of himself visiting his ill father in the hospital, and it was an awesome photograph, evocative of so much that is good and decent.

<<<knows good photography.

One won't ever see that photograph posted here, however, because we're decent and civilized people, and really, such private moments that happen to get photographed, don't need aired on a public forum, especially not on Skins's island, where the primitives have coarser, cruder sensitivities and possess no understanding of aesthetics or pathos.  They're just bloodcurdling beasts, the primitives, with no human feelings.

So.....it might seem Skippy's a nice guy.

Skippy may have a few outstanding good points--overcoming adversity's always worthy of admiration--but I beg to differ; Skippy's not a nice guy at all.

As with previous Top DUmmie contests, and as explained throughout the year, members are encouraged to campaign for, to boost, to promote, their choices, on both the nomination and voting threads, so as to excite interest in those candidates.....just as I did a few years ago with the die alte sau who did finally win top spot despite formidable competition.

So one's likely to hear more about my favorite candidate all the way up until voting closes.  I don't think he deserves the number one spot, or even the number two or three or four spots, but I do think he rates a spot in the top ten somewhere, in which case I get to write an award specific to him.

In his calling attention to a minor, inconsequential, trivial, outdated error franksolich once made, Skippy brought it on himself.

<<<takes one's reputation and honor seriously.

I'm going to nominate Skinner.

Because of him, we had Meta for part of the year, which was a great forum. I wish they'd bring it back. Nothing like watching the inner-workings of these quacks and all their spats being laid out on the table.

In lieu of that he did bring back ATA, which isn't quite Meta, but at least it's something.

I gotta nominate, for one of the Top DUmmies spot, the DFW primitive, who made a big deal about his connections with some ancient newspaper reporter; she died this past year, and went to school with Louella Parsons and Hedda Hopper, or something.

And there's his constant bragging about living in Germany with his big-boned Teutonic hausfrau, away from e-vul America.

The DFW primitive, born and raised in upstate New York under rather affluent circumstances, I find a rather condescending prig.

However, if one's into coins and stamps, I heartily recommend one check out his business, located in.....Dallas-Fort Worth.....the prices are good, the gradings are accurate, and the service is impeccable.

But as for he himself, well, he's a big stuffed pompous ass.

But he promised the CalPig primitive he'd think about setting up a forum in memory of primitives no longer in this time and place, and even though he's had plenty of time to think about it, he hasn't done it yet.

It's very sad, all these deceased primitives not being remembered.

I haven't decided yet, so don't construe this as a nomination, but I've been thinking about Skippy's pal--he visits her every time he's in Chicago--mopinko, the hypochondrial primitive.  But I'm not sure if she's Top DUmmie caliber, even in 18th, 19th, or 20th place.

I first spotted mopinko way back in the halcyon days of the Bush administration, when she was bitching about the "lousy Bush economy" in General Discussion.  And then some minutes later, she went to the Do-It-Yourself forum, announcing she was getting a new front door put on her house.

There was nothing wrong with the old front door; she just wanted a new one, that's all.

Costing thousands of bucks in a "lousy" economy; her husband must've been raking in the bucks.

Then she hired some little brown guys in the back of a pick-up truck to install it for her, for cash.

She wasn't happy at the work they did, having forgotten that one gets what one pays for; it's unreasonable to expect Old World Craftsmanship at undocumented-workers'-wages.

She was a real bitch about it.

It wasn't until later I learned she's an insufferable hypochondriac, too.

But she didn't do much this past year, other than gripe to Skins about us.

I don't think Skippy was ever associated with New York, although I used to.

It appears he's a native of California, unless there's asparagus farms in New York.

The "NYC" might mean something else.

Remember, Skippy's a new one, and getting a handle on him is like trying to play basketball with jello.

<<<however, has been getting a handle on, slowly but surely.

I also used to think he was perhaps an architect or interior decorator, based upon things he said on Skins's island--all I know about Skippy is what Skippy's said about himself--but then he flummoxed me by betraying an interest in childhood education, and so for a while I supposed he was a teacher.

But he seems to travel around a lot, and on somebody else's dime.

So now I'm supposing he's a governmental employee of some sort.....and a really good expense account, courtesy the taxpayers.

I agree, it appears that NoSense has morphed into a talking points bot, which is really sad. Still I think she (I think the creature is a she) is worthy of a nomination if for no other reason she doesn't flinch in the face of being 100% factually incorrect. A real cheerleader for the cause she is.

I'd forgotten all about him this past year, even though in his first appearance in the Top DUmmies (2012), he did pretty well, locked in a five-way tie for 14th place:

No apologies needed; this is the first time for a group award.

The intent's to keep the Top DUmmies as individual awards, as incentive for primitives to give us their individual best.  I think it's best to keep the special awards--the Willie, the Steve, the Rob, and the Nadin--for individuals only too.

And so if one has a group in mind, best to just nominate it (for whatever reason) for the overall group award.

I have two nominations for DOTY. But before I proceed, allow me to mention two DUmmies that with just a wee bit of effort could in the future make it to the top of DUmmie-hood. They just need to polish up and fine tune their stuff so to speak. Those Dummies I speak of are dixiegrrrrl and bigdarryl. Both have potential and both have screen names that just scream "look at me, I'm a lib.", but they still have to put forth just a smiggen more effort to make the cut. Perhaps this mention as a possible DOTY honor will give them just the push they need for 2014.

OK, so allow me to nominate two more DOTY contenders for this year, treestar and Scuba. I think we can all agree that Scuba needs the attention and treestar wants desperately for everyone to think she sits in a tree and poops in a bucket that some underling ground dweller empties. Consider these nominations my humanitarian duty in an attempt to improve the self esteem of two needy DUmmies.

I wouldn't do it just for spite, if that's your reason.

I do believe he would be the first winner to run unopposed. In future campaigns, we could always look back and say that there was a DUmmy that had his award won so decisively, that no one even dared to run against him. It would add greater humiliation to his victory. I don't believe that it would ever happen again. This is Doug Bulna's perfect storm.

I agree.

It would be a first, and it would be a double-barrelled distinction for the brain-damaged primitive--the first time a primitive ran unopposed, and the first time a primitive was unanimously selected, for an award.

It's almost not worth it- a foregone conclusion.

I might nominate someone as a dark horse against him (if nobody else does), just so he doesn't have the satisfaction of running away with all of the votes.

Doug . . . naaah, that's Omaha Steve that would finish last in an unopposed race, behind "Other." :whistling:

I was gong to nominate another DUmb**** based on the thread that BattleHymn brought up about Doug getting his butt plug inverted about that newspaper which published all of the names of legal hangun permit holders then getting threats (Cooley Hurd), but has said primitive done anything of note since? :???:  I'll put that nomination on hold for the time being.

I'm gonna be mean here, and further splinter the vote for the Willie, the award give the most-memorable primitive.

So far we got:

the late red round one
the bitter old Vermontese cali primitive
the big guy in Bellevue
(the late) Chief S itting Bull, the bird-smacking stoned red-face primitive
the sparkling old dude

That's a really good selection, although I always thought Chief S itting Bull was the Greatest Primitive, Ever, and long overdue for recognition that he set the standards for primitivity.  He was the textbook primitive, the exemplar, the paragon, the model.

But in past years, I couldn't get many interested in him, and so I gave up.

But I'm mystified as to why no one's mentioned poor stupid Beth, known both as EFerrari and sfexpat2000, and so I'm nominating her for the Willie.  She's been gone from Skins's island for about 15-16 months now, and is sorely missed, because she was such a prolific poster, and in so many different forums.

I believe she was, and still is, the all-time poster on Skins's island, despite that she'd been a member only since November 2004, when she was among the Andyites emigrating to Skins's island after the elections that year.

One could argue there were certain small forums that managed to stay animated and lively because of her presence; the rural life forum, for example.  It's been collecting cobwebs since she left.

The sfexpat2000-franksolich love affair rocked the internet, and needs no explanation, and I think some homage needs to be paid the one and only primitive who was an equal match to franksolich.  I won, not because of wits, but simply because I had more staying power, more endurance, more tenacity, than she did.

She came very close.  Admirable woman, poor stupid Beth.

I agree.

It would be a first, and it would be a double-barrelled distinction for the brain-damaged primitive--the first time a primitive ran unopposed, and the first time a primitive was unanimously selected, for an award.

The guy needs something to cheer him, and this could do it, if it happened.

Be aware of DUbious moles trying to make sure it doesn't happen.

Come to think on it, the only DUmbass that wouldn't like to see it happen is Dougie himself. If some FNG nominates someone else, we'll know that that person is Dougie's mole.

I was going to. Then I though of all of the DUmmies that have left the island or post so infrequently that they are almost nonexistent. There's Beth, Horse with no brain, The Panther, Mrs Dawson, bobbolink, xultar (sorely missed), Joanne98 and HannahBell.

Some, such as Anne Pritchett, AKA Proud2BlibKansan, the Die alte Sau primitive, the dysmenopausal Kansas school teacher, are not missed in the least.

Yeah, I don't miss the Die alte Sau at all; I keep hoping she performs a self-abortion of herself, but alas she pops in Skins's island once in a while, showing she hasn't.

I checked, to see where they're at now, former top DUmmies:

2005 Distressed American -- gone
       William Pitt -- still around
       mopaul/phalloscraper -- gone

2006 William Pitt -- still around
        phalloscraper/mopaul -- gone
        StellaBlue -- gone

2007 TomInTib/too many AKA to list -- gone
Proud2BLib -- for the most part, gone
        sfexpat2000/EFerrari -- gone

2008 TomInTib/too many AKA to list -- gone
Husb2Sparkly/Stinky the Clown -- for the most part, gone
Proud2BLib -- for the most part, gone

2009 greenbriar/demtenjeep -- gone
        bobolink --gone
        EFerrari/sfexpat2000 -- gone

2010 Proud2BLibKansan -- for the most part, gone
Stinky the Clown/Husb2Sparkly -- for the most part, gone
       EFerrari/sfexpat2000 -- gone

2011 nadinbrzezinki -- still around, but fading
       Taverner -- gone
Omaha Steve -- still around, but only a shadow of his former self

2012 BanTheGOP -- gone
nadinbrzezinski -- still around, but fading
       Taverner -- gone

One wonders why that is, so many primitives winning, and then walking away.

You know, actually poor stupid Beth, then known as sfexpat2000, should've been the first Top DUmmie, back in 2005 (she ended up 5th or 6th; I forget which), because of her role in inciting the scam that rocked the internet.

She was by far more interesting than the ridiculous Distressed American.

But back then, we were still at our old home, which had some real sourasses who were "tired" of the scamdal--as if someone was pointing a gun to their heads ordering them to read all the Andy threads--and did everything they could, to obstruct proponents of open and honest fund-raisers.

And there were enough of them to keep poor stupid Beth from top spot.

I'm really glad none of these sourasses came over here with us.

With an almost perfect DUmmy resume, this canidate for DOTY, at least on paper, has it all. A bI-pOLAR condition for which he takes meds (and thus of course  goes off said meds from time to time), retired union worker, and is a self-taught expert on micro/macro economics and mob psychology. This individual knows workers rights! The only two issues detracting from is canidate is while he has the required nasty tendency, he uses it at the wrong time and for the wrong reasons and since retirement this year he has not put in the same amount to quality posting time as when he was "working". I offer up for DOTY nomination DUmmy fumesucker.

Another favorite DUmmy that has been working on "broading her horizons" in 2013 by shifting focus from expert commentary on all things political in Central and South America to socialist wonderlands in Europe is DUmmy Judy Lynn. So I nominate her for a DOTY also.

Judy Lynn and Beth were both on their knees for Hugo.

On DU ll, she dominated the LBN section. No one dared to cross her. Her opinion was to be considered as fact. Not so much on DU lll.

She's still a bitch though.

Yeah, the subway cat's two sisters did what her mother, or Amber's sisters (in the case of the convenience store primitive), didn't have the courage to do; they got her put away some place where she's watched over and safe.

She's still eligible for the Willie, though, if someone wants to nominate her.

The William Rivers Pitt award is for the most memorable primitive, and hence not dependent upon what a primitive was, or did, this past year.  It could be any primitive going clear back to the beginning.

For the Steve Dawes award, how about DUmmy Taverner, Mark Kregel.

His big, vulgar mouth ran afoul of the DUmp lezbo Gestapo, then he got shitcanned after calling Skimmer Luke Skinwalker or something like that.

He's the only DUmmy I can recall ever extolling the virtues of heroin.

Well, but it seems to me the Taverner primitive is a worthy nominee for the award given the primitive who's been his own worst enemy, without the help of anybody else.

I've been paying close attention to the nominees for the Robyn McGrath award, the "Rob," for the primitive who incites the most laughter when the primitive tries to come across as credible and authoritative.

The Rob, which was new last year, went to my cousin nadin while I thought it should've gone to my twin Atman; after all, it was named after him.

And thus far this year we've got as candidates:

Atman
BainsBane
Lady Freedom Returns
nadinbrzezinski
Taverner

I think Atman deserves to win, especially since it seems, as with the sparkling old dude, he's fading from the scene, soon to become of little or no interest in the DUmpster.  He never did in all these years crack the top ten, and deserves at least a measly little token award.

For the Rob: LocoNuts and Dennis the Menace.

Those two guys have been more fun that a barrel of monkeys.

They're so funny, it makes me hope they hold off on suicide for at least a few more months.

Of course, "credible and authoritative" is just another way to say "nadin".

Perhaps in the spirit of "everyone is a winner", a new catagory should be created. Something along the lines of DUmmy Emeritus?

Perhaps in the spirit of "everyone is a winner", a new catagory should be created. Something along the lines of DUmmy Emeritus?

There's a problem, though.

One person writes all the awards.  The winners are given to him a mere five days before it's time to start posting them.  And those five days happen to be.....just before Christmas.  There's been circa 15-20 awards every year, and of course not all of them get written in those five days.

If one has family, social, or work obligations (I don't; I make it a point to clear the calendar of all such things beforehand), he couldn't do it.  It's a lot of pressure, to churn out so much in so little time.

Some of the awards I've written have been, literally, hot off the press, first-and-only drafts, and finished just seconds before I've posted them.  The closest call was when the die alte Sau won Top DUmmie in 2010; that was scheduled to come out shortly after lunch-time New Year's Eve.

I had to help the neighbor with some cattle in a raging blizzard the morning of December 31, 2010, and it was past 1:00 p.m. when I got back inside.  I'd written not a word about the die alte Sau, thinking I'd get it done that morning.  I was considerably wet and my hands and fingers frozen when I sat down in front of the computer to write the award.

It was wholly first-draft, spur-of-the-moment.  It came out circa 2:00 p.m., on time, if one considers that close enough to the promised "shortly after lunch-time."

<<<likes to be on time.

So right now, we're looking at what has to be written, in the order they'll most likely appear, the week between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve:

(01) the bottom half of the top twenty primitives (one single award)
(02) the Willie
(03) top primitive #10
(04) the Steve
(05) top primitive #09
(06) the Rob
(07) top primitive #08
(08) the Nadin
(09) top primitive #07
(10) top primitive #06
(11) top primitive #05
(12) the group award
(13) top primitive #04
(14) top primitive #03
(16) top primitive #02
(17) top primitive #01

Seventeen awards in six and a half days.  It's about like this every year, and I try to limit the number of awards given out, so that I may have more time to give the winning primitives my best literary efforts.

Last night, while reading a certain primitive on Skins's island, what all he's ever said about himself, it suddenly struck me that I've discovered a new species of primitive.

I'm calling it primitivus malignus, as it's a sort of primitive which poses a real threat to the republic.

I hope to God it's unique, or barring that, at least very extremely rare.  It's not good.

It appears that Skippy, the NYC_SKP primitive, is the real deal, a primitive who actually works to get things done.  (He's been on Skins's island only since 2008; not exactly an old-timer.)

We've always been rather more used to the primitives who talk the talk, but don't walk the walk; blowhards, big mouths, braggarts, hot-air balloons.  And that does describe nearly all the primitives, who are far more interested in telling other people what they should do, rather than doing those things themselves.

Skippy seems to have mastered a trick of doing it on somebody else's dime, though, not his.

The task of making this award production work in such a short period looks daunting to me.  I am quite content that I am not the one who has to do it, or even help. Not that I wouldn't, but I'd really rather not, and am happy that I'm not.
But big kudos to Coach and Ralph Wiggum and all concerned who orchestrate.

I'd like, at this time, to call attention to the ladies on my LEFT. And enter their names in nomination for DUMMY OF THE YEAR:

First, cbayer. Who has given us many reasons to vote for her, but most especially to me for her utter preponderance of pretentiousness when describing Provence this or that, and her other exclamation of sheer disgust at the other poor ladies in the Cooking and Baking forum. We all know, well at least should assume, that all she has room to cook on the two burner countertop hotplate is a skillet of past dated eggs and some scraps of sausage crumbs from the dumpster behind Dennys.

Second, Sabrina. For her useless support of the Round Bald One. Acres and acres of typeface to silence the bullies nipping at our heroine's heels when all she really had to do was screech "SHADDUP!"

And then, there's Are_Grits_Groceries. What can I say, AGG, grits are not groceries. I can't stand the sight of them. But for little other reason than your stupid screen handle I nominate you for DOTY.

Oh, and because you found out too late that cACA would actually raise your health insurance rate, stick you with inferior insurance. Quit your job, go on welfare and get better coverage with Medicaid. Good luck finding a doctor. Lets hear you cheer now.

Myself, though, I'm loath to nominate primitives who've had the balls to show up here--don't let that stop anybody else, though--excepting for their own particular reasons, :jugs:  :yahoo: and my twin Atman.

But generally, if a primitive actually shows up here, franksolich thereafter loses interest, and disturbs the primitive no more.

You know, diabeticman's a really good choice; now that he's been nominated, I'm pretty sure I'll be voting for him.

The 0bama Gestapo's been nominated, and won an award, before; I'm not sure what year, though.

Thanks for the nominations; they're all going on the ballot.

By the way, not here, but on the ballot, there's going to be a link to what in Nebraska's called "the voter information guide" to candidates.

But one has to be in that exclusive group, members with 1000+ posts only, to be illuminated by it, sorry.

I forgot about him. He deserves to be named scumbag of the year.

The 0bamacare lemmings are those primitives vigorously trying to counteract tales of woe about new medical insurance plans.

The 0bama Gestapo are the apologists for the Big Zero, period.

Two different groups.

I think I might have made a mistake, gimme a break this is only my second stab at the DOTY.

My last post was my votes...not nominations...I was starting to stress as the days wind down but as I reflect on it I see my mistake.

I admit that I tend to get caught up on the small things, I'll revisit the OP.

Thank you for your understanding.

Nominations for DOTY.

Th1onein  Also would like to put her up for the Steve.  DainBramaged might have lost his job, but she put her life and the lives of her Spawn in grave danger, by bringing a "ghettoish" dude into her and their lives.

Kpete, can't believe she hasn't been brought up yet.  Also maybe there should be a special award for the Dummy who posts from behind gated walls.  Maybe a Flyarm award.

Dreamer Tatum, Zappaman and Sid Dithers.  For occasionally adding some sanity to the DUmp and knocking down the silly conspiracy theories of true moonbats such as

Octafish.  So proud of having attended a 50th ANNIVERSY JFK conspiracy conference.

Judy Lynn  A true moonbat.  Still believes in Hugo and the Bolivarian revolution, and thinks that Casto holds democratic elections. Always had a soft spot for the true  Stalinists

Mike C  The  bug doctor, never misses a spot to complain about not being able  to pay down his student loans.

One of the funniest things SidDithers ever said was during a primitive dicussion about "weird" "Christian" "religious" "beliefs," where he mentioned, "Well, if you don't want to be laughed at, don't have funny beliefs."

Man, I never saw a primitive express so well what motivates the DUmpster.

Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians that the world will look at us Christians as "weird" and "foolish".

God gave us Christians an excuse for our beliefs to look funny to the outside world.

Now, what is the excuse for your funny beliefs, Sid?

You know, I'd really like to nominate the late Tangerine LaBamba for the Willie, one's most memorable primitive.

Most might remember her as the left-handed attorney who gave the Bostonian Drunkard so much grief during Fitzmas on May 12, 2006, but I most fondly recall her from the night she showed up here on conservativecave, December 17, 2009.

It was awesome, how she illuminated us about the various primitives of then-prominence.

She spilled the beans faster than a railroad grain-hopper could.

Great nomanee my friend.  For those who weren't here, you have a link where she showed up?

One fine Sunday morning in summer 2012, Chris_ was trying to fix a software problem, and ooops, suddenly every topic started, every comment, on the whole of conservativecave was by Chris_.

I'm sure some here remember that summer morning.

The web-site was wholly Chris_, no one else.

Everybody was Chris_.

It was an accident, and took Chris_ a very long time to repair.  And he could repair it only back to a certain date.  Tangerine LaBamba's comments still exist here, but they're lost in the myriad of Chris_ and franksolich posts, with Chris_ and franksolich shown as the commenter.

I just checked; Chris_ has 4,813 pages of comments, and I have 2,843 pages of comments.

Chris_ has 39,989 comments, and I have 42,102 comments.

Chris_ has 3,102 topics started, and I have 8,767 topics started.

All of her comments are buried.....somewhere.....in these two superenormous glomerations.

I doubt even supersleuth grasswire Judy of Skins's island could find them any more.

That was about two and a half years after Tangerine LaBamba was here, and inbetweentimes we were using her material.

Her presence was noted, and commented upon, in a still-extant thread started by thundley4, but damn, there's so much material I'm not up to looking for even that.

If someone can find one of her quotes, I can probably fix it.

We do have a backup that goes up to 2010.  That would fix most of the older ones.  Unfortunately, accounts that were deleted (there are a few) are unrestoreable.

That was a pain for Chris_, and I felt for him.

He restored me first, because I was the largest block of "topics started" and "comments."  Because I remember how many posts I have, by the time he got done, that number seemed about right.  But my number of posts does not coincide with the number of posts one might find under "posts by franksolich," which is a larger number.

But it's not worth worrying about, and no, Chris_, don't worry about it; you got too many other things on your plate.

Coach, sir, other than campaigning for a specific nominee, I attempt to keep myself removed from the DOTY. I don't vote in well respected contest, and I don't think I've ever nominated anyone. I don't vote or do nominations because I feel it would be somewhat unethical for a fictional spirit-guide to do so; however, I do request permission to make one single nomination. She may be on the list and I just missed her. If not, I, a man, open the door to the little woman, redqueen. I do so not out of mutual kindness from one individual to another. I open this door because I am a man and she is a woman and the door may be too heavy for her.

Right; it's no big deal.

I forgot we'd closed it to visitors.

It all started when Odin's Hand, at the time a moderator, noticed a post by a member in the moderator's forum--you'd been trying to fix someone's account (whose, I dunno), and fixed the wrong one.  When that was determined, you tried fixing that, and kaboom! the whole board was suddenly Chris_.

It was funnier than Hell, watching the reactions of members logging on that morning.

Awhile back I was doing some researching on something. I was going through quickly scanning through some old posts and ran across one that read like one of mine. Then I noticed it was posted by Chris. I scratched my head for a second then had a laugh when I remembered the brief period of time that we were all Chris.

I already had a pile of respect for Chris but that incident added two more logs on the pile. The first was he showed he could take a joke as we picked at a bit. The second was that he got things straightened back out pretty darn quickly. So thanks to Chris for being Chris...and for a short time being everyone else.

But more embarrassing, I once spotted--oh, about a year ago--a post showing franksolich as the commenter, but it was obviously.....vesta111.

These quirks apparently exist because of changes members make in their e-mail addresses, as shown on their profiles.  Some members keep the same e-mail forever and ever, never changing it, while others of us have changed it at least once.

If one's never changed his e-mail, or has changed it only since September 10, 2011, then one's comments posted are probably 100% correct.  The rest of us, well.....

My only hope for Chris_ is that his love for Vera Wangs has not grown cold since that evening so long ago.    :-) :rotf:

The way I understood it, Chris_ had to sort names by e-mail addresses as shown on profiles.

And so if one'd always had the exact same e-mail on his or her profile, then all the comments were properly attributed.

But if one had changed the e-mail on his or her profile from when one first joined, up until the Chris_ catastrophe, then the only comments that could be properly attributed were those aligned with one's latest e-mail address.

Which meant some of us had our earlier-in-time comments attributed to Chris_.

(I remembered all the e-mail addresses I'd used, so I got off easy.)

A couple of years ago, I remember one time looking for a comment made by JohnnyReb shortly after he'd joined here--I think in February 2008.  It was a great comment, a damned fine piece of writing, a literary masterwork.  But all I could get back to was April 2008 for JohnnyReb, and so I asked Chris_ where his earlier comments were.

(JohnnyReb must've changed his e-mail on his profile in April 2008.)

Chris_ assured me JohnnyReb's earlier comments are still here, and suggested I might find them by culling through all the Chris_ and franksolich posts.

Yeah, right.  One might as well try to excavate Mount Everest with a teaspoon.

But, as we all know, excresence happens.  It's not the end of the world, and Chris_ did heroically restoring all that was restored.

<<<never has had a complaint.

I've got to add this idiot. It is as rotten as a snake and deserves the same fate. I've wanted to bitch slap him several time this past year. I don't know how I overlooked him.

If you haven't noticed his post, start paying attention. He's worthy of a top 10. He's as vile of a DUmmy that ever existed.

Let's invite her for a return engagement.

Nominate away.

For the Nadin I nominate Stewart the leech...doing the world such a self appointed service of saying O`Reilly sucks and only aski...demanding in return that everyone pays his bills and provides a comfortable living.

I know exactly where you're coming from.

There seems to be a popular primitive attitude, "support me simply because.....I'm me."

"Because I grace this world with my existence, support me."

The big guy in Bellevue had been a prime example of this, asking for money for his campaign without bothering to tell prospective donors why they should.  "Come on, now, support me because I'm me."

It's not that important, but it might help others during the research portion of their ballot.

You know, I dunno if anybody else has noticed this, but there's a lot of primitive with serious dermatological degeneration.  mike_c, Skippy, steve2470 are the ones who immediately come to mind, but there's others.

Their skin, at least their facial skin, appears about twenty years older than they are.

Must be from too much fun, too little work, in the sun.

Here's an example of Tangerine LaBamba:

Quote
But, has anyone here ever read California Peggy's poetry?

Just on the basis of that, she deserves the top prize.  I'm pretty sure it was directly responsible for a number of the fires and landslides that took place in California, probably gave Charlie Manson one of his migraines, and even made Arnold Schwarzenegger think that maybe he was living in the wrong state.

Don't get me wrong - her poetry isn't bad.  It's awful.  It's the kind of thing that would blind God if He had to read it.  It's a collection of words that should be machine-gunned down, one by one, preferably out in the desert, with no witnesses, and a nice young girl who could be counted on to claim that she'd been shooting jackrabbits.  It's so bad, mirrors crack if anyone looking into a mirror while thinking of one of CP's poems runs the risk of permanent scarring, even blindness, while thinking of it as he peers into the mirror.

I don't want to say that it's the worst thing I've ever read, because I also once had to read a chapter of a book written by my dermatologist's brother-in-law (this happens when you have your first book published, and everyone suddenly has a manuscript they absolutely NEED you to read - it's a sure-fire best seller) in which every woman - and there was a new woman on every page - had the most amazing orgasm as soon as the man entered her.  Every time.  One stroke.

CP's poetry isn't that bad because I don't have to go to her and tell her that there are parts of it that need some work.

Her poetry needs immolation.  She needs to have all writing impletments and keyboards, paper, blank walls, toilet paper, paper towels, margins in newspapers, and even the blank part of framed works of art removed from her home until this idea that she's writing "poetry" passes.  Maybe medication will help.

Okay, I think I got all the official primitive screen-names down right (not on this thread, but on the ballot), as they actually show on Skins's island, with capitalization or non-capitalization, with spaces or no spaces between words, with _s or no _s, and so forth.

It's important to have the primitive exactly as the primitive writes it, for ease of searches.

*****ANNOUNCEMENT FROM franksolich*****

Because of constraints on time in real life, while nominations are still open until 10:00 p.m. central time this coming Saturday, although ten days had been promised for voting, voting will instead take place from circa breakfast-time Sunday, December 8 up through supper-time Saturday, December 14.

Six days rather than ten; sorry.

This is to give Mr. Wiggum more time to count the votes, and franksolich a few more days to write the awards, which will come out as promised, beginning the afternoon of Christmas Eve.

The rules for voting will be posted here sometime late Friday evening, but the thread "locked" until after the official ballot is appended early Sunday morning, after which it'll be opened up to comments.

I don't see a problem with that time frame.

There's going to be something new this year; two campaign-and-voting threads, not just one.

The first is going to be the usual-and-standard thread here in the DUmpster.

However, since the primitives especially this past year have bitched and moaned so much about how we hurt their wittle feelings with what we say about them, there's going to be a second one somewhere else here, where one can say what one wishes without worrying about hurting primitive feelings.

So as to not miss anyone worthy and to refresh my memory, I checked back over my editions of the DUmmie FUnnies from the first of the year. A place to start is to see if there were particular DUmmies who were featured so prominently in a DUFU that I mentioned them in the byline. Below is a list of all 23 DUFUs I've done since the first of the year, noting those DUmmies especially featured therein. (BTW, only 23 DUFUs in 11 months is a very low number for me, compared to previous years. I've had a lot going on this year in my life and my work.)

And so, for their strong comedic contributions, and if they have not been nominated already, I nominate the following featured performers of the DUmmie FUnnies for Top DUmmies of the Year:

Ken Burch
WilliamPitt (4x!)
samrock
liberal_economist
Locut0s
Hugabear
tk2kewl
Fire Walk With Me
Kablooie
nadinbrzezinski
hooverville29
leftstreet

This is not to say that all of the above are Top Ten or even Top Twenty material in the final balloting, but I'll at least put their names in the nomination hopper. And of course there are other DUmmies who are worthy of top consideration who are not mentioned above. I will get to them in a later post.

I also want to mention an important DUFU that my DUmmie FUnnies co-host PJ-Comix posted, i.e.:

DUmmie FUnnies 08-23-13 (Get DUmmie DainBramaged FIRED For Stealing Cable Box Remote At Work) (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3058022/posts)
DainBramaged

This was the DUFU in which I uncovered the scene of DainBramaged's crime (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3058022/posts?page=62#62) and his secret identity (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3058022/posts?page=65#65).

And so I also nominate for the Top DUmmies my own personal choice for DOTY 2013:

the William Rivers Pitt award, the “Willie,” for the most-memorable primitive from any time since the founding of Skins’s island on January 20, 2001.

Definitely the already-awarded WilliamPitt, nadinbrzezinski, and TomInTib (in his many guises) would be on my Mount Rushmore of DUmmieland as being among the most memorable DUmmies ever. If I had to pick a few others who have not yet won the Willie, they would be, and so I nominate:

Andy Stephenson:  The late lamented red round one, the center of the maelstrom that rocked the internet!
sfexpat2000/EFerrari:  So prominent for so long, and then . . . so long!
bobbolink:  Bobo the Hobo, posting from her home in the back of a Buick. Winning the Willie would be sweet revenge!
benburch:  The butt of so many jokes!

They all would be deserving first-ballot inductees into the DUmmieland Hall of Fame.

Quote
the Steven Dawes award, the “Steve,” for the primitive who proved his own worst enemy during 2013; usually, this means a primitive who wallduded himself, getting himself fired from a job because of comments made on Skins’s island. . . .

DainBramaged. Hands down. No contest. No one else is remotely close.

Quote
the Robyn McGrath award, the “Rob,” for the primitive who, simply put, one found funny during the past year, provoking the most merriment and mirth. . . .

SidDithers, the funniest of Nadin's bullies.

Quote
the Nadin Abbott award, the “Nadin,” for the primitive who exhibited the most “I am God”-like characteristics during 2013; the primitive who was never wrong, always right.

Is this the inaugural award? Then I would give it to Know-it-all Nadin herself, nadinbrzezinski.

This whole contest shows what little sister syndrome you guys suffer from. And for the Willie, no mention of Bev Harris shows how dumb and lacking in cognitive memory your group think circle jerk really is.
What is it with you libs and your projection ? If you knew just a few people on this site you would know you couldn't possibly be making such assertions about this forum.
What you know best you project most, like group think and talking points.
And what is it about you people and your character assassination ? Don't shoot the messenger, shoot down the message, if you can, lib.

I don't remember anything like this last year.  Do they often make a head on run at the Dotys like this.

It can either be the primitives whining more than usual about us, but on Skins's island, as appears to be the current case.  I wish they'd spread their whining over the year, instead of bringing it to a head now, when one's so preoccupied with so many other things one can't engage them as much as one'd like.

Or it could be a primitive actually coming here and staying a while, as Systematic Chaos did last year, or the late Tangerine LaBamba did three years ago, or as AllentownJake did four years ago.

Something of some nature always happens during the Top DUmmies contest.

The ballot thus far . . .

the Willie:

Andy Stephenson
benburch
cali
EFerrari
Omaha Steve
Redstone
Stinky the Clown
Tangerine LaBamba
Th1onein
undergroundpanther

Please include, sir, my nomination of bobbolink for the Willie.  Also, on EFerrari, I would list her as sfexpat2000/EFerrari, since she gained much of her renown and fame and memorableness under her previous nom de DUmb.

The rules say the Willie's a one-time award, and so once a primitive's won it, the primitive's not eligible for it any more.  The bobbling primitive's won it before.

So, here are my submissions:

DOTY

dfk - For having his seditious scalp tacked to $kinner's wall after so many years of loyal service.

Cherokee Progressive - A sarcastic voice of occasional reason in a hurricane of stupidity.

Group

The DU gay mafia - These deviants seem to be able to survive $kinner's purges better than cockroaches surviving a nuclear winter, only to come back bitchier than before.

The DU man haters - Seriously, how did Seabeyond's bra burners not make the nominations?  Has anyone seen a more toxic collection of hormonal demons than this bunch?

The Rob

Dainbramaged - Who hasn't laughed their ass off at this fool?  Especially since Labor Day?

The Nadin

Dainbramaged - DUmmie Doug's penchant for hearing no voice other than his own and never being wrong.  Benghazi!

For the Rob, for trying to sound authoritative and wise, while being comically addled and stupid - grasswipe Judy Smith, pie shoppe proprietress, matriarch of six living generations, and Miss Addled Oregon of 2013.

For the Willie, the Mount Rushmore of the DUmp, Pam Dawson. For two or three years, no DUmmy provided more quality democrat lunacy than Pam, from her cruise ship adultery, her vulgar grandmother, her graphic gut rot details, her five-story starter home, her Glock, her plagiarism, to her demotion to guarding felonious teens. Pam is an icon, one of the Founding Loonies of the DUmp.

(And by the way, how on earth did that useless robo-poster Grayson ever win an award? Must have been the same people who voted for Ann Pritchett, and were duped by the asshat last year.)

For DUmmy of the Year - certainly not a winner but a prominent contributor who coulda been a contender - ugly DUmmy Warpy

I guess I am in the unique position of being the sitting DOTY in nominating the wonderful group of alleged humans for their awards. (Yes, I sense another BS or two for that self-indulgent remark, but I digress.)

Steven Dawes award: Who else but DainBramaged? Doug Bulna's playful escapade with the remote resulting in his walduding is a runaway for this award.

Robyn McGrath award: I'm leaning toward LocoNuts for sheer self-pity in a humorous hubris manner.

Nadin Abbott award: Gotta go with Nadin herself in the inaugural of this new category named after her.

William Rivers Pitt award: Stinky the Clown, just because of the name, I admit. Other than that, I don't really see a standout in the legacy department.

And for DOTY: Nadin again, pretty much in a runaway this year. She was my pick last year, and is deserved of the buck-toothed ass award.

I have been thinking about this for a couple of days. Please know that I appreciate all that you do. But I can't resist asking for the creation of one more "Special" award. Perhaps this has been considered before, but how about the DUfus?

If that's the case, nominate all 5,000 of them.

Besides their official primitive screen-names, should nicknames with which we've baptized particular primitives also be cited on the ballot, or would that look too much like favoritism for certain ones?

Such as:

BainsBane (:jugs:  :yahoo:)

DainBramaged (the brain-damaged primitive, walrus-face)

grasswire (addled Judy, the pie-and-jam primitive)

Would that be cool or not cool?

Yes, I believe they should be cited with their nicknames.  I don't have a reason, other than they're funny.  The only problem is settling on a single nickname for each one, if one is all you intend to list.

The grasswire primitive is known by at least two names: pie-and-jam primitive and also grasswipe.

Frank, first thing you might want to do is to double-check the spelling of the official screen names:  upper-case/lower-case, spaces/no spaces, underscores/no underscores.  For instance, Fire Walk With Me does not use underscores.

As far as nicknames, I would be inclined to mention them in the descriptions, not in the ballot listing. And nicknames vary. Your nicknames are not always obvious to me; they're not necessarily intuitive, and they may not be the ones I use in the DUFUs. And with Nadin or Pitt, e.g., they each have more nicknames than Carter has pills. But as long as we have the official screen names, that's the main thing.

This was a concern of mine--screen-names need to be accurate for "search" purposes--and I had double-checked the names.....with the single exception you cited.

I dunno why, but "search" wouldn't show anything under "Fire_walk" or "Fire walk" or &c., &c., &c., and I was truly stymied; I couldn't find an example of his posts so as to get it the way it is.  Thanks for the illumination, as I wanted the names to be 100% correct, so as to not give Skippy on Skins's island another chance to gloat that "franksolich made a mistake....."

As far as I can tell, all the others are correctly stated.
