And NYC_SKP, as you probably know, has a mole posting here daily, mocking the gullibility of decent and civilized people.

No, I don't know; I've heard that rumor before, and have been on the lookout for the longest time, and never seen any indication that Skippy hangs around here, in disguise.

Now, I'm not the brightest bulb in the light-sockets, but I'm around here s-o-o-o-o much I think I'd "pick up" on something that seemed suspicious.  It hasn't happened.

If someone exposed Skippy being here, it'd be a major coup, and franksolich would be in debt to that person for the rest of his life, Skippy's so nauseous; his condescending attitude drives one nuts.

And too, I don't believe Skippy has the balls to hang around here, even if in deep disguise; being a primitive, he has a yellow streak.

Thank you, Sheriff Taylor, the dad I never had.

I probably owe more to Andy Griffith and the skills he portrayed as a father on the Andy Griffith show for my upbringing than to any other male figure ever alive.

I came up on a defunct due to death asparagus ranch, raised by grandmother in a home with mom and sister, four years older, and attended a two-teacher eight-grade school.

Like Mayberry, I was raised in a rural setting, without even running drinking water (we had to go to a well to refill what fed a single kitchen spigot).

We had a Black and White TV that my mom bought my grandfather with her first paycheck.

Three years and 14 days younger than Ron Howard, Opie was the boy I longed to be.

And Andy was the dad that I never had, but for lack of any other came to teach me values, and morals, and kindness and goodness, and how to be happy with just the way things are, and without preaching about it.

Thanks, Sheriff. Thanks, Pop.

Rest In Peace.

PS: Fact is, my DU user name is inspired by Barney, who was once heard to say, "Andy, I think we got us an SKP!" (escapee)

(about six hours later, I guess)

Okay, sorry for having quoted Skippy and left; a friend was here working on a piece of farm machinery late at night, and needed my help out in the garage for a bit, after which I just went to bed, forgetting all about this.

That piece by Skippy, above, is a rare piece of primitive writing; in fact, it's almost a collector's item, in that there's not a single mistruth or distortion in it.  Every bit of it's true, although I fail to see why his having attended a "two-teacher eight-grade school" was a handicap, something he apparently thinks indicative of a deprived youth.

And the part about the black-and-white television.  I'm not clear on this, because television was never a part of my own life, and Skippy and franksolich are, roughly, from the same era.  I could be wrong, but I always assumed that from, say, circa 1958-1968, while color television was available, really, black-and-white television was the "norm;" one was more likely to live in a home that had the latter than the former.

Skippy also once wrote a most-excellent piece about his grandmother wringing necks of chickens and defeathering them, which struck me as a sure indication of utter poverty; I have no doubt the windows in his house had those tacky pull-down shades instead of draperies or venetian blinds, and maybe some of them were torn.

Skippy apparently later in life made contact with his absent father, and apparently was with him when his father faded away from this time and place.  Some months ago, when the locust primitive was whining about his own paternal ancestor, Skippy posted a photograph of himself visiting his ill father in the hospital, and it was an awesome photograph, evocative of so much that is good and decent.

<<<knows good photography.

One won't ever see that photograph posted here, however, because we're decent and civilized people, and really, such private moments that happen to get photographed, don't need aired on a public forum, especially not on Skins's island, where the primitives have coarser, cruder sensitivities and possess no understanding of aesthetics or pathos.  They're just bloodcurdling beasts, the primitives, with no human feelings.

So.....it might seem Skippy's a nice guy.

Skippy may have a few outstanding good points--overcoming adversity's always worthy of admiration--but I beg to differ; Skippy's not a nice guy at all.

As with previous Top DUmmie contests, and as explained throughout the year, members are encouraged to campaign for, to boost, to promote, their choices, on both the nomination and voting threads, so as to excite interest in those candidates.....just as I did a few years ago with the die alte sau who did finally win top spot despite formidable competition.

So one's likely to hear more about my favorite candidate all the way up until voting closes.  I don't think he deserves the number one spot, or even the number two or three or four spots, but I do think he rates a spot in the top ten somewhere, in which case I get to write an award specific to him.

In his calling attention to a minor, inconsequential, trivial, outdated error franksolich once made, Skippy brought it on himself.

<<<takes one's reputation and honor seriously.

I'd heard of the term "hopping in the sack", or some variant like "jumping in the sack" or "hopping in bed". I haven't seen that movie yet, but probably will sometime.

As have I and I've never been any extended time in Nebraska. Hopping and jumping in bed/sack seemed to go hand in hand with the phrase jumping/hopping from bed to bed to make reference to someone of more ummm liberal morals when it comes to the carnal sharing with others.

I'm going to nominate Skinner.

Because of him, we had Meta for part of the year, which was a great forum. I wish they'd bring it back. Nothing like watching the inner-workings of these quacks and all their spats being laid out on the table.

In lieu of that he did bring back ATA, which isn't quite Meta, but at least it's something.

I gotta nominate, for one of the Top DUmmies spot, the DFW primitive, who made a big deal about his connections with some ancient newspaper reporter; she died this past year, and went to school with Louella Parsons and Hedda Hopper, or something.

And there's his constant bragging about living in Germany with his big-boned Teutonic hausfrau, away from e-vul America.

The DFW primitive, born and raised in upstate New York under rather affluent circumstances, I find a rather condescending prig.

However, if one's into coins and stamps, I heartily recommend one check out his business, located in.....Dallas-Fort Worth.....the prices are good, the gradings are accurate, and the service is impeccable.

But as for he himself, well, he's a big stuffed pompous ass.

But he promised the CalPig primitive he'd think about setting up a forum in memory of primitives no longer in this time and place, and even though he's had plenty of time to think about it, he hasn't done it yet.

It's very sad, all these deceased primitives not being remembered.

Nominating kentuck and ProSense for DOTY...the former is one of the stupidest creatures to ever exist and the latter such a joke as to even be ridiculed on the island of demented misfits.

You know, there was a time when the ProSense primitive would've been a credible candidate for the Nadin "I am God" award, but those days look gone now.

I haven't decided yet, so don't construe this as a nomination, but I've been thinking about Skippy's pal--he visits her every time he's in Chicago--mopinko, the hypochondrial primitive.  But I'm not sure if she's Top DUmmie caliber, even in 18th, 19th, or 20th place.

I first spotted mopinko way back in the halcyon days of the Bush administration, when she was bitching about the "lousy Bush economy" in General Discussion.  And then some minutes later, she went to the Do-It-Yourself forum, announcing she was getting a new front door put on her house.

There was nothing wrong with the old front door; she just wanted a new one, that's all.

Costing thousands of bucks in a "lousy" economy; her husband must've been raking in the bucks.

Then she hired some little brown guys in the back of a pick-up truck to install it for her, for cash.

She wasn't happy at the work they did, having forgotten that one gets what one pays for; it's unreasonable to expect Old World Craftsmanship at undocumented-workers'-wages.

She was a real bitch about it.

It wasn't until later I learned she's an insufferable hypochondriac, too.

But she didn't do much this past year, other than gripe to Skins about us.

I don't think Skippy was ever associated with New York, although I used to.

It appears he's a native of California, unless there's asparagus farms in New York.

The "NYC" might mean something else.

Remember, Skippy's a new one, and getting a handle on him is like trying to play basketball with jello.

<<<however, has been getting a handle on, slowly but surely.

I also used to think he was perhaps an architect or interior decorator, based upon things he said on Skins's island--all I know about Skippy is what Skippy's said about himself--but then he flummoxed me by betraying an interest in childhood education, and so for a while I supposed he was a teacher.

But he seems to travel around a lot, and on somebody else's dime.

So now I'm supposing he's a governmental employee of some sort.....and a really good expense account, courtesy the taxpayers.

I agree, it appears that NoSense has morphed into a talking points bot, which is really sad. Still I think she (I think the creature is a she) is worthy of a nomination if for no other reason she doesn't flinch in the face of being 100% factually incorrect. A real cheerleader for the cause she is.

Please add the 1StrongBlackMan primitive to the DOTY nominations.  I wouldn't waste a weighted vote on him, but he should be taken into consideration for a lower division award.

Okay, I'm assuming that's a nomination for the nadin, and will record it thusly, unless I'm wrong.

ProSense for the "I-am-God-don't-question-me" award.

I'd forgotten all about him this past year, even though in his first appearance in the Top DUmmies (2012), he did pretty well, locked in a five-way tie for 14th place:

14 1StrongBlackMan
14 Skinner, EarlG, and Elad
14 the bullies
14 TheMagistrate
14 w8liftinglady

If he starts showing his stuff real soon, maybe he can improve on that this year.

I seem to remember Mr.Dorkio (Mr. Scorpio for the lurking DUmb****s) doing something noteworthy-like over the past year.  I nominate him for DOTY.

If I could, I'd like to ask for a clarification.

Specifically about groups...I'm not sure I understand...can groups be included in a nomination for all the awards or just a specific group award?

If this question has been asked before I apologize,  I have been desperately trying to learn how a ford power stroke motor works so I can help my brother.
