If someone can find one of her quotes, I can probably fix it.

We do have a backup that goes up to 2010.  That would fix most of the older ones.  Unfortunately, accounts that were deleted (there are a few) are unrestoreable.

Nah.  You've always done more than your share.  It's no big deal any more; we got what we wanted.

I still get a laugh when occasionally coming across a post ostensibly by you, but it's obvious it's someone else, usually a member who's a femme.  But it's been a very long time now, and it's so rare it's not worth sweating a drop about.

That was a pain for Chris_, and I felt for him.

He restored me first, because I was the largest block of "topics started" and "comments."  Because I remember how many posts I have, by the time he got done, that number seemed about right.  But my number of posts does not coincide with the number of posts one might find under "posts by franksolich," which is a larger number.

But it's not worth worrying about, and no, Chris_, don't worry about it; you got too many other things on your plate.

Coach, sir, other than campaigning for a specific nominee, I attempt to keep myself removed from the DOTY. I don't vote in well respected contest, and I don't think I've ever nominated anyone. I don't vote or do nominations because I feel it would be somewhat unethical for a fictional spirit-guide to do so; however, I do request permission to make one single nomination. She may be on the list and I just missed her. If not, I, a man, open the door to the little woman, redqueen. I do so not out of mutual kindness from one individual to another. I open this door because I am a man and she is a woman and the door may be too heavy for her.
Fictional spirit-guiding by appointment.

For new members and lurkers: I am a fictional spirit-guide with no smell whatsoever. I am part irish setter and part pigeon. If you don't smell any strange smells it means I'm probably standing next to you. As I am a fictional character anything I post should possibly be considered fictional.

According to this thread by Mr. Mannn, that was on September 10, 2011 that it happened; I was off.  Sorry.

http://www.conservativecave.com/index.php/topic,64173.0.html

The gratitude was because we kept the Chris_ board up and running while Chris_ was dealing with the problem, whereas if this had been Skins's island, it would've been shut down several hours for repairs.

Well, we did close the site to visitors.

It's no big deal.  It'll get fixed eventually, probably when we migrate to a new server.

Right; it's no big deal.

I forgot we'd closed it to visitors.

It all started when Odin's Hand, at the time a moderator, noticed a post by a member in the moderator's forum--you'd been trying to fix someone's account (whose, I dunno), and fixed the wrong one.  When that was determined, you tried fixing that, and kaboom! the whole board was suddenly Chris_.

It was funnier than Hell, watching the reactions of members logging on that morning.

Awhile back I was doing some researching on something. I was going through quickly scanning through some old posts and ran across one that read like one of mine. Then I noticed it was posted by Chris. I scratched my head for a second then had a laugh when I remembered the brief period of time that we were all Chris.

I already had a pile of respect for Chris but that incident added two more logs on the pile. The first was he showed he could take a joke as we picked at a bit. The second was that he got things straightened back out pretty darn quickly. So thanks to Chris for being Chris...and for a short time being everyone else.

It's been a few months, but I think the last one I saw by Chris_ that wasn't really by Chris_ was when he was talking about three of his kids.  It sounded more like one of the two "Defiants" here, not Chris_.

But more embarrassing, I once spotted--oh, about a year ago--a post showing franksolich as the commenter, but it was obviously.....vesta111.

These quirks apparently exist because of changes members make in their e-mail addresses, as shown on their profiles.  Some members keep the same e-mail forever and ever, never changing it, while others of us have changed it at least once.

If one's never changed his e-mail, or has changed it only since September 10, 2011, then one's comments posted are probably 100% correct.  The rest of us, well.....

I saw one just a few weeks ago that was still showing "Chris_", but was signed by Doc.

My only hope for Chris_ is that his love for Vera Wangs has not grown cold since that evening so long ago.    :-) :rotf:

The way I understood it, Chris_ had to sort names by e-mail addresses as shown on profiles.

And so if one'd always had the exact same e-mail on his or her profile, then all the comments were properly attributed.

But if one had changed the e-mail on his or her profile from when one first joined, up until the Chris_ catastrophe, then the only comments that could be properly attributed were those aligned with one's latest e-mail address.

Which meant some of us had our earlier-in-time comments attributed to Chris_.

(I remembered all the e-mail addresses I'd used, so I got off easy.)

A couple of years ago, I remember one time looking for a comment made by JohnnyReb shortly after he'd joined here--I think in February 2008.  It was a great comment, a damned fine piece of writing, a literary masterwork.  But all I could get back to was April 2008 for JohnnyReb, and so I asked Chris_ where his earlier comments were.

(JohnnyReb must've changed his e-mail on his profile in April 2008.)

Chris_ assured me JohnnyReb's earlier comments are still here, and suggested I might find them by culling through all the Chris_ and franksolich posts.

Yeah, right.  One might as well try to excavate Mount Everest with a teaspoon.

But, as we all know, excresence happens.  It's not the end of the world, and Chris_ did heroically restoring all that was restored.

I've got to add this idiot. It is as rotten as a snake and deserves the same fate. I've wanted to bitch slap him several time this past year. I don't know how I overlooked him.

If you haven't noticed his post, start paying attention. He's worthy of a top 10. He's as vile of a DUmmy that ever existed.

Edit: If allowed this nomination I am prepared to campaign for it.

You know, I'd really like to nominate the late Tangerine LaBamba for the Willie, one's most memorable primitive.

Most might remember her as the left-handed attorney who gave the Bostonian Drunkard so much grief during Fitzmas on May 12, 2006, but I most fondly recall her from the night she showed up here on conservativecave, December 17, 2009.

It was awesome, how she illuminated us about the various primitives of then-prominence.

She spilled the beans faster than a railroad grain-hopper could.

Let's invite her for a return engagement.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

For the Nadin I nominate Stewart the leech...doing the world such a self appointed service of saying O`Reilly sucks and only aski...demanding in return that everyone pays his bills and provides a comfortable living.

I know exactly where you're coming from.

There seems to be a popular primitive attitude, "support me simply because.....I'm me."

"Because I grace this world with my existence, support me."

The big guy in Bellevue had been a prime example of this, asking for money for his campaign without bothering to tell prospective donors why they should.  "Come on, now, support me because I'm me."

It's not that important, but it might help others during the research portion of their ballot.

You know, I dunno if anybody else has noticed this, but there's a lot of primitive with serious dermatological degeneration.  mike_c, Skippy, steve2470 are the ones who immediately come to mind, but there's others.

Their skin, at least their facial skin, appears about twenty years older than they are.

Must be from too much fun, too little work, in the sun.

Thanks; it is in fact important, for "search" purposes.
