I just tried to post a response but my computer went goofy. Pardon me if it posts twice.

I can't remember exactly but I think I googled "conservative forums" and this came up along with others. I liked this one better. I get on here several times a day to check news. I don't post much because usually the person who puts up the news has a comment that says it all.

My only suggestion would be that when a person H5's you or bitch slaps you, it should show up on your personal page so you know who did it. I'm on a wrestling site and it does that and gives you an option to leave a message as to why you did it. Keeps people from bitch slapping cowardly. Just a thought....

The preferred thing to do, if someone likes, or dislikes, something someone else has said, to comment upon it, not just "high-5" or "bitch-slap."

That's the preferred method.

For a while, "high-5"s and "bitch-slaps" were discontinued, and then some months later, after it appeared everybody was aware they weren't to be taken seriously, they were restored.

I prefer the preferred method, but if that was the only method, dutch508 would be the top commenter here.

I agree with your preferred method. And I don't take them serious because I can predict when they come. But some still bitch slap and you never know why. I would hate to be banned because I got 1000 bitch slaps and didn't know why I was getting them. I am confident that I can back up  any debate with reason. So If people think I am unreasonable and I don't know it, I would like to know why. Like I said, just a thought.

Thank you for giving me a chance to clarify something.

No one at no time ever has been banned because of a number of "bitch-slaps".

No way; they're not taken seriously.

"Bitch-slaps" has never been a criteria for expulsion; only violation of the rules of conservativecave.

Frank, considering the amount of interest the Casey Anthony trial and aftermath engendered, perhaps CC could have a True Crime forum?  Seems like there's always a case The Flaring Nostrils of Justice Nancy Grace is ranting about. :-)
Seriously though, I could envision quite a bit of traffic to such a special interest forum, myself included.  Just a suggestion.

Well, that Casey Anthony thread here does seem to have been one of the largest ones ever, here.

And with the elections coming up next year, the Democrats are sure to be committing a lot of true crimes worth noting.

But I dunno; perhaps you could post this suggestion and expand a little upon your argument, in the "Suggestions and Feedback" forum here, so the administrators and moderators will see it?

Certainly.  I cannot take too much time today to elucidate, expound or otherwise expand upon this subject, as my son's girlfriend, her 3-year old, my 2-year old grandson, and my daughter, her friends, son's friends, oy vey, have all descended upon me for a birthday picnic in my son's honor.  He's 24 today.  My baby is almost a century old.  I feel so old.  Ah well.  Anyway, since I snuck out of kitchen prep for a CC mental health break, I will have to revisit the issue tomorrow.
Not complaining about the company, sir, just making my excuses (as she slinks away from the computer before she gets an anti-social rep). :-)

Well, but madam, have a good time; family and real life are more important than the internet.

You got all sorts of times to make the suggestion; it can wait.

Here goes: I’m a French-Canadian, Christian Fundamentalist, Very Pro-Federalist (I despise the “indépendentiste” movement), Royalist Conservative. I have yet to find another one like me. My fellow Canadians on Canadian conservative forums would probably think I’m some sort of an oddity (there aren’t many around and I don’t think they’re very Quebec-friendly). I like to hang out here. And I like you guys.

I like the forum just as it is.   :cheersmate:

Just wanted to add..I know why the people here in my province are so anti-English. Revisionist history. They don't realize that it's because had it not been for the British, we would not be speaking French today.

My family have been Monarchists for generations. When we hear that abomination cry of "vive le quebec libre" all I hear is more communist propaganda.

Sorry to derail. Carry on.

No derailment, madam, because this thread's pretty much run its course.

On this monarchy thing, where H.M. the Queen is head of state of Canada, I've always been very confused about sentiments expressed by contemporary Canadians, either apathetic towards the queen, or even hostile.

I'm appalled that there's even non-Quebec Canadians who are republicans.

Yet these are the same sorts of Canadians who whine about "being confused with Americans" or Canada "getting to be too much like America."

What they forget is that the monarchial system in Canada is one of those things that exactly, precisely, clearly, distinguishes them from America and Americans.

Abolish that system, and "goodbye" to anything that distinguishes Canada and Canadians from America and Americans.

I did notice a few years ago that on Canadian ten-cent pieces, for a short time, the "D.G." was omitted from the royal titles on the face of the coins (it's since been restored); the first time I saw that, I figured okay, the "D.G." first, the queen next, and then Canada's just another republic just like America.  But as mentioned, the next year, the "D.G." was restored, and continues today.

The D.G. Was left out during the 2010 Olympics to read something else for a commemorative coin, but I can't think of any other time. Methinks you're more knowledgeable than me.... :)

That omission bothered me, but I didn't know the reason.

The first time I saw it, I thought, "Okay, the Canadians are starting to ditch the queen, and so are going to be just like Americans, nothing distinctive about them at all....."

The Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics commemorative quarters have dropped the inscription "D.G. REGINA," and they read "CANADA ELIZABETH II," along with the date of issue and Ilanaaq, the emblem of the games.

It was just for the Olympics. Not to worry. I like the ten-cent piece with the Bluenose Schooner on one side and Her Majesty on the other.

Well, in case you didn't know this, historically, when one starts getting rid of a king (or queen), the first thing they do is alter the royal title, dropping the "by the Grace of God" part.

That's in cases where they've done the job slowly, by first diminishing the title, and then much later the position itself.

I was always fond of the royal effigy used 1953-1964, although that's a minority opinion on aesthetics.

I don't really have any Canadian favorites in the coin collection--I've got tons, it seems, of Canadian coins, though--but the large one-cent pieces, made before 1920, seem most pleasing.

The favorite Canadian stamp's from 1897, the Diamond Jubilee, showing a big mass of red covering the map.

Time for that once-a-year survey of the membership, so as to figure out what works, and what doesn't work.

conservativecave seems to be working astonishingly well, the numbers (traffic) going up-up-up every single month, the sky being the limit; obviously conservativecave does what works.

But it's that time of the year anyway.....

(a) what brought you to conservativecave?  (a member already here, google search, whatnot)

(b) any suggestions on how to improve conservativecave?

Well in my case Frank it was you. I always enjoyed reading your posts about the dummies over at CU, lurking of course cause I'm pretty shy, and then all of sudden it was like the place died.  It seemed to me like it was a place where if you disagreed with management, especially Gator and his "moral clarity", then you got kicked off.  I try not to judge people, except for dummies, their stupidity and lies of course, and I'll be damned if that asshole and his "moral clarity" was gonna judge me.  I got more moral clarity in my pinky than he has in his entire body so I never joined.

So anyway ... here's how I found about this place. I googled Franksolich and at the top was CC. So Perky, painfully shy person that he is,  lurking in the shadows as always, read CC for a fairly long period of time and liked the place.  Then one night I was half lit on frozen margarittas, and did something I had never done and joined.  Figured I wouldn't post much and said so. Regretted it when I sobered up and figured I would just quietly go away. Then I got a private message from DD, talked with him a little and found out we had some things in common, and figured this place was where I could be myself. The rest, as they say, is history.

As for improvements... the only thing I can say is that ya all should drop the login forever feature and make the default an hour or two. I never noticed it for like 3 months and always wondered why when I got back on I was always logged in. That ain't good in my opinion.

Ya know... Perky is really dumb sometimes and if Perky is dumb, other people are too.

Dunno about the software ya all using but I would think that maybe if someone hasn't posted, or accessed the site, in some period of time it should log you out. Just a suggestion of course.

Living in the Dummies minds rent free since 2009!

If I didnt' have the login forever option on things, I'd probably be there once, and never be able to make it back into my account.   :p
