Ship Captain Rescued From Somali Pirates
« on: April 12, 2009, 12:52:17 PM »

"American sea Captain Richard Phillips was rescued from four Somali pirates Sunday, a U.S. intelligence official said.

Three pirates were killed and one was in custody after what appeared to be a swift firefight off the Somali coast, the official said.

Phillips, who was not hurt, was safely transported to a Navy warship nearby.

The official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Talks began Thursday with the captain of the USS Bainbridge talking to the pirates under instruction from FBI hostage negotiators on board the U.S. destroyer." Breaking Fox News

3 out of 4, not bad!

I hope they're letting the fourth one swim home. :lmao:

The 4th was injured and captured. Ideally he should be tried and hanged , as following the law of the seas regarding pirates.

So glad to hear about this. Too bad Dick Cheney isn't around to waterboard the pirate left alive.

That captain is a hero.

Justice. Unfortunately the world will scream like babies and Zero will listen. He needs to be brought on trial and at least imprisoned for life.
I fear with Zero this will be a catch and release.

Should we give Obama some props, over the French.  Since he had him rescued without a loss of life for the captives?

Anyone?   :uhsure:

No. O did nothing. He wouldn't even comment about it. Hillary laughed.
Why should he get any credit?

At a news conference, Reinhart says he talked to Phillips on the phone and also read a quote from Phillips in which the captain said: "John, I'm just the byline. The real heroes are the Navy, the Seals, those who have brought me home."

Seems the CO. of the USS Bainbridge found his loophole and seized upon it.

And Dumbo has finally made a comment on the situation..........he's happy for the release  :thatsright:

And we need International help on this matter  :thatsright:

Apparently what happened is one of the pirates was onboard USS Bainbridge negotating with the FBI. The captain of USS Bainbridge gave orders to the sniper teams onboard to take the shot if they had it, which they did...one pirate was in the wheelhouse of the boat and the other 2 had their head and shoulders exposed at the time of the shot...distance was only 20-30 meters.

What?  How about "I applaud our military's decisive action that affected the rescue of Capt. Phillips."  Give credit where credit is due.

BTW, anyone wanna place bets that one or all of the players in said rescue are passed over for promotion?

Same here.  Now, the remaining pirate should be questioned, tortured, hanged, then wrapped in a hog carcass and dumped off at the nearest port with a note attached that reads:  "Next!"
