the best part is, i agree with you 110%. thats the best part about this. life is about winners and losers. i gladly accept what my fate has become. but it seems to me that all of you are disgusted with me not working. thats the part i dont understand. if i'm happy with how my life turned out, and i'll be off food stamps in may, no harm, no foul. for me, if i dont care what happens to me, then i most def dont expect anyone else to care. believe it or not, when it rains and you have a wooden roof, it'll put you out really good at night.

Why do you consider yourself a conservative?  Your values don't seem to indicate that.  Second question, do you suffer from an alcohol or drug addiction problem?  Is that part of why you are in this situation?

I'd trade my sit-down IT job if I knew how to weld.  Those guys make more money than I do.

wow, a lot of hatred from this post.

Not a bit of hatred. I don't give a shit about you- if you die tomorrow, it won't change my life in the least.

That was an incredibly DUmb thing for you to to say.

have you thought about moving to where the jobs are?  This afternoon I heard Sean Hannity talking to a woman who's 19 year old son moved to North Dakota and got a job in the oil fields, working essentially 6 months out of the year (2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation) and making $60k a year.  He had another guy on who got out of the Army and went to work in the oil fields in Texas and is making $100k for the same 2 on/2 off schedule.

The jobs are there if you are willing to look for them, accept something below your current expectations as long as you are willing to work hard and advance on your own merit.  If you aren't willing to put in the effort, then nothing anyone here says will make a difference.

Hello all, i'm new here and wasnt quite sure if this belonged in this part or not, but i have a question concerning jobs. do all of you on here work?? and if so, how do you feel about people who cant find a job today??

Going back to your original question.  Asking decent conservative folks how they "feel" about something is a waste of time.  Further, claiming you can't find a job is pure self delusion as your subsequent posts clearly show that finding a job is the furthest thing from your mind.  Finally, your sloppy/lazy writing style shows you are clearly unsuited for any type of office work and your efforts at educating yourself were wasted.

Personally, I don't feel anything about you.  Even pity would be wasted.

Sorry new writer, I as a female with just a nursing degree found after a few years I was not suited to my job.   I was so involved with my patients I would call on my day off to check on them.  A death was to me a failure and just could not get around the fact that death was a natural outcome for some of my cases.

So I quit my job and drove a school bus, now there was a sit down job.   Later I moved and got a job at minimum wage in a cosmetic company, moved after a lay off and found myself working in the bilges of ships doing lagging.

Next job lasted 22 years, worse one I ever had, standing on wet concrete floors 10 hours a day,  some times 6-7 days a week, exhausting.  Started at $5.00 an hour and by the time I retired was making $20.00 an hour with benefits and a 5 week vacation paid every year.

Now I hated my JOB, but the management was super and I managed to have some fun with coworkers, we became family. All in it together and we bust our ass to make the company successful. Bonus checks of a weeks pay at the end of the year helped.

WORK is just that, WORK, it is not suppose to be fun or easy, we do not all get a job being a recreation director on the Love Boat.

I can see where your family is coming from, hard work and pride in doing so.  Every time I got my pay check it was to me a pat on the back for being valuable to the enterprise and gave me the feeling I was worth something to society.

Now that I have retired I am a bit adrift, I get my #SS check every month for doing nothing but being alive.   There is no satisfaction every week from seeing the results of my labor, no more team work and the lets all pull together for a common good.

You Sir may not like welding but if you are good at it, well that is WORK, get better at it, learn from the old timers.      I was surprised to find we in the manufacturing jobs earned more then the sit down office staff who could not get over time.

One woman in her late 50's worked all the overtime offered and made $35,000 one year and she could not read or write or speak English well.

well despite the negative (and a few decent) comments, i learned one thing. majority of those posting the negative comments are merely establishment republicans, not true conservatives. you see, a guy like me steps back and figures out the problem and wants to fix the problem. i have YET to read one comment that actually addressed the real problem. it would seem that on one hand, liberals are trying to make the situation worse by raising min wage. you establishment republicans only viewpoint is that you should just work at ANY job you can find. both sides are not interested in trying to fix the problem. the problem is, 20, 10 yrs ago, one could get any job they wanted as long as they had a college degree. today, that is not so. there are NO DECENT middle class jobs available. you have crappy wal mart jobs or you have jobs that require a MA and 10 yrs of experience. the middle class jobs are GONE. and they are not coming back. not one person asked why did he go back to college so late in life? the reason is to never have to do crappy jobs again. i REFUSE to do another crappy job ever again. i'm better than that. i might be homeless but i still have my dignity knowing i'm not a wal mart greeter. we had a special on the local news the other nite talking about why people cant get a job today. they didnt go to some CEO or politician to find out, they went to the low level supervisors and HR folk. you know what they said?? again, they said what people like me have known for the last few years. 1. if you survived the recession in 08, you may very well last at your full time job for the foreseeable future. 2. if you have not worked in 6 months, you are unemployable no matter what skills you have. 3. the days of just hiring anybody to fill a position are long gone. One of the HR folk mentioned for a regular part time manufacturing position, it took them 8 weeks to find a person to hire. this person had no college, but had been working full time at another job. this leads back to #2. and lastly, because of the recession, companies now know just how much they can cut back and still profit. you folks can keep thinking about how wal mart will save you, but the rest of us are going to sit back and wait till things get worse. things are going to get much worse before better. and BTW, some of you keep talking about how we are a "SOCIETY" well guess what...if thats your view then we are all in this together and you WILL continue to pay for "vermin" like me. hope that makes your day. oh yea, btw.. i changed a friends headlights for some money. easiest 20 bucks i made in the last 2 months. keep working for those that are on min wage lol.

You're wrong.

Your inherent negativity is the "real" problem.  Period.

Period.

There are no jobs because you tell yourself there aren't any.

You are unemployable because you tell yourself you are.

Things are going to get worse for you because you tell yourself they are.

You are your own worst enemy.  We've basically been trying to tell you that--but you don't want to listen.  You'd rather blame everyone and everything else for your own problems rather than stop thinking about what it is you don't want and start thinking about what it is you want.

It's as simple as that, but I can tell I'm wasting my time here.  You'll believe what you want to believe.

I don't read your posts unless they're short, walls of text give a headache.

But allow me to tell you something that you want to hear.

I don't care what happens to you and neither do you, you can go die in a ditch eating worms and it won't make a bit of difference to me.

Actually, I rather like drowning yourself in a bucket (that wasn't me but I forget who came up with that.)

You've made your choices so I don't understand why you continue to bother us with this insipid thread.

I enjoyed my time working in retail.  It's actually one of my more favorite jobs.  I also never worked so hard physically in my life, and it sure beat sitting on my butt in front of a computer all day.  The time flew by too.

I've had a lot of jobs (by choice) as most of them were through a temp agency.  I never looked at my jobs as work per se.  I think it's an attitude.  I went into everyone as a challenge and to learn something new and add to my growing list of business experiences.

What I find distressful about the OP's attitude, is that he made a choice to be homeless and not work.  I'll never understand that. I really don't care either, as long as he isn't taking from the system that tax payers support.

Being a grown up means your supposed to take care of yourself.  I don't see where exposing oneself to the dangers of being homeless or taking tax payer funded food stamps is acting like a responsible adult.

Well done!!

Thanks Scoobie,   at my age it is difficult to understand the new world and the new life people live.

Only thing I understand is the dignity of people that rejoice in  their accomplishments.

I understand the fact that few have any interest in building something for the future, be it themselves or monuments to the future.

We are becoming sheep in the field, they do not toil or give any labor to others, they just exist to eat, sleep and breed to  be used by other and expect the others to keep them warm and fed, until they are culled out to feed the Masters for their desires.

Dignity must be instilled in the youth, the ethic of pride in their doings, the pride in themselves, the pride in their ability's  such as they are be it to hoe a corn field better then others or to as a house wife be the best in canning vegetables and taking first place at a country fair.

well despite the negative (and a few decent) comments, i learned one thing. majority of those posting the negative comments are merely establishment republicans, not true conservatives. you see, a guy like me steps back and figures out the problem and wants to fix the blah blah blah, bullshit bullshit bullshit

Whatever, DUmp rat.  Take your lying ass back to whatever leftist cesspool you slithered out of.

Sounds like we got another liberaltarian (another self-appointed "true conservative").

Sounds like we got another liberaltarian ("true conservative") on our hands.

Seems to me more like a semi-literate DUmbass trying to troll.

Hey, I have a bullshit Business Degree and am just south of $200K -- I also travel over 100K miles a year and have nights like last night when my trip was wiped out due to an unexpected blizzard and it only took me 4 hours to get delay-delay-delay-cancel.

Thank God I love what I do and left working for the State of California 15+ years ago.  If I stayed there I would be a suicide statistic by now...

Well, thanks to all the mods for letting it stay here so we can play... It is always nice to see examples of just how dumb liberals are...
