as an electronic tech, i did such things as component level repair on handheld radios for first responders, software verification, field service, and testing and programming radios. i never really liked it so when i was layed off, i wasnt that upset. as far as other jobs that i have had, they never lasted very long and i wouldnt do those kinds of jobs again anyway. i went back to college so that i could get a decent job AKA not one where i have to stand all day or weld. i worked for a place called Areva, and we built nuclear fuel for different plants and we had to do a small amount of welding on them which meant getting certified. wont do that any more. thats why i dont have any job skills currently because all hte jobs i have had i hated and that was why i went to school so that i wouldnt ever have to do that kind of work again. better to be homeless than to wake up mad everyday that i actually woke up because i hated my jobs so much. as for dignity, well.. we lost that a good while back. at this point, its all about survival really. just trying to make the hours go by, thats why i'm on here. boredom will drive a man to do just about anything.

Wow. Just wow. Since you've got the world by the balls, how's that workin' out for ya?

Will boredom actually get you to stop feeling sorry for yourself, reach down, find what used to be balls, and grow a pair?

I didn't think so.

You're not going to survive (eat, dress, bath, etc.) by making the hours go by around here, son.

But now we know that you're just bored and not willing to do anything except hope for a job you think you deserve and doesn't make you mad. Meanwhile, you're taking up space and breathing oxygen meant for others.

With that resumé, I wouldn't hire you. Get lost!

You will be.

Bullshit, troll.  The fact that you know what "DUmmie" means says to me that you're a DUmpster diver looking to drag its ass across the Cave's carpet.

I don't care if people have jobs or not. -- As long as they leave me alone I'm good with it. What isn't right though is when they start wanting other people to pay their way. To achieve this they either have to steal from someone or vote for higher taxes and more welfare programs. Not sure I see much difference.

Ok, that one gave it away, shit for brains.

So, did you have fun?  If anything, I love getting the chance to tell one of you DU ****tards how I really feel.

It's not a matter of people "can't" finding a job.  For you to believe that the majority of long term unemployed stay that way for 99 weeks due to no fault of their own is the epitome of naïveté.

But what the **** do you care...It's not your money they're sponging off of, right?

And to think I wasted an Earl Nightingale clip on you.  Ugh.  His advice is anathema to every silly belief you cling to. My only solace is that I know you didn't listen to it, and if you did, it would have gone right over your head.

So, to summarize:

You have no skills, by your own choice. You have a shit work history. You don't like work. You don't consider welding or the other trades to be "decent" work. You prefer homelessness, which apparently doesn't make you "mad", to working, which does. And, you want to be hired for a job that lets you sit on your ass all day long.

It's a mystery to me that you're not the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. A ****ing mystery!

You, know snaz, people like you really piss me off...

You cant walk into any job, and think you are going to get that corner office, on the 50th floor. Had you stuck with one job, no matter how shitty, you might have been there, or damn close...

Many , if not all of us, had to stick our faces in the mud, to get where we are today. Why didn't you go to college, for something you did like, that you would have been in a career you desired, and enjoyed.?....grrrrrrrrrrr

i'm not looking to become a welder again. right now, the only jobs i have been putting in for are education based and any cubical type job. if i had known i would have had to learn how to weld when i got on at Areva, i wouldnt have taken that job. as it was, i was only there for a little over a year. over a year too long in my book.

wow, a lot of hatred from this post. its not by my own choice that i have no skills. my family has always been blue collar, work till you drop and i wanted something more. my family thought i was too uppity when i said i didnt want to do manufacturing. i think manufacturing jobs are the worst. my first manufacturing job was at a place called ericsson..i HATED it. in fact, i hated it so much that i enlisted because at that time i believed it would help me get a better job after i did my 4 years. problem was, after i got out, i moved back in with my folks and they were bound and determined that i was going to go back into manufacturing. so jan of 01 i started back in manufacturing, made a LOT of mistakes, like buying a house, and in the middle of 03 i quit. i sold my house and moved in with some friends. middle of 04 i got on at Areva. i hated it, but i had changed because i was soo tired of having such shitty jobs. i no longer cared about work. and so i was out of work till end of 06. i got on at a place called Tyco. i was hired as an intern, they sent us to school and we worked part time. after i got my two year degree done, they let me go because me and my supervisor fought all the time about my hours. so i decided to go back and get a 4 yr degree and get that office job i had always wanted. i went back and got my BA in public relations and history. i absolutely LOVED going to this college. after i got out..i tried and tried to get a job. and what i found was.. there really arent any "good" jobs in this area. this town has been a manufacturing type town for as long as i can remember. and i even tried to get a job at a job fair as an electronic tech again. problem was, i had a 4 yr degree. hte HR lady wasnt interested after she heard this. i was a flight risk. and in that time since, i have realized that if i want to get out of this situation, i will have to move to an area where manufacturing isnt the only type of job. so why do i not have any skills?? because i never had a job that i liked and really wanted to do again. other than my college years, i have no skills for THIS area. i even remember one of my history professors had talked to us in a class one day about the horrors of manufacturing and i chimed in with how bad they REALLY are. i can tell all of you this much... there are worse things than being homeless, one of those is working at a manufacturing plant. i'll pick homelessness over manufacturing ANY day of the next century.

^Sounds like you've made your decision about what you want to do.
Why don't you sign up with a temp agency working in an office of a PR firm, or any firm for that matter?  Even if you start at the bottom doing clerical stuff, at least you could get your foot in the door and gain some experience while earning some money.

wow, a lot of hatred from this post.

What is it with you dimwits and "hate"?  It's like that's the only word you simpletons know other than "racist".

You'd be better served if you could better distinguish implied emotion.  If you could, you'd know not to assign "hate" to what is best described as contempt and disgust.

So you have no skills because you choose not to, the certifications you claim are probably expired and worthless, you are a distraction and drag in your workplaces, you have a worthless bullshit degree, no work ethic, no sense of pride or self preservation, no drive, no desire to be a productive member of civilized society.

its not by my own choice that i have no skills.
This is where you completely fail. YOU are responsible for YOURSELF. If you're 41, you've graduated to adulthood. Perhaps you're confused as to what "adulthood" means. It means nobody wetnurses you any more. It means nobody is going to give you a free lunch. It means that nobody is going to put a roof over your head. It means being a contributing member of society rather than a ****ing freeloader.

Wasp69 stated it very well. You're hearing disgust and contempt. Nobody knows you well enough to hate you. Besides, hating somebody you don't even know consumes energy that, frankly, shouldn't be wasted on the object of that hatred. So get with the program, dipshit.

Ain't nothing wrong with disliking manufacturing jobs. For me personally, doing something like that day-in, day-out, would drive me insane. So, in recognizing that fact, I set out to PREPARE myself for the time when I could move into a job that was more to my liking. I researched my options, went to school, competed for jobs, won one that I liked, then busted my ass inside that job to learn all that I could. And then I continued to bust my ass after I moved around the country chasing better jobs.

The rest of your screed is simply pathetic. You're a loser.

Quote

Translation - as long as somebody else is putting a roof over my head, or I'm living in a cardboard box, or someone's feeding me meals out of a soup kitchen, all is right with the world because I'm not working a manufacturing job.

You've made your choices, chump. Now you're living with them.

the best part is, i agree with you 110%. thats the best part about this. life is about winners and losers. i gladly accept what my fate has become. but it seems to me that all of you are disgusted with me not working. thats the part i dont understand. if i'm happy with how my life turned out, and i'll be off food stamps in may, no harm, no foul. for me, if i dont care what happens to me, then i most def dont expect anyone else to care. believe it or not, when it rains and you have a wooden roof, it'll put you out really good at night.

Let me try and clarify it. I'll type slow so you understand.

Working people produce. Working people pay taxes. Working people contribute to society. Working people benefit the society as a whole. Working people benefit the economy too.

Freeloaders like you (and I don't give a rat's **** if you're going off food stamps in May, WHO THE HELL IS PAYING FOR YOU TO EAT NOW AND UNTIL MAY?) contribute nothing but vermin. You and the cockroaches, lice, and scabies you live with destroy our society and infect our animals.
