Prosecutorial and Judicial misconduct IMHO.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

The fact that at least one meeting was held in the mayoral office smacks of political interference

What about the star witness being subjected to giving a statement in front of the decedent's Mom ?

I'm not sure if I am interpreting your reply correctly, but in my opinion it was misconduct on the part of the prosecution to allow it.

Frankly, the prosecutors case was in fact a defense case but I'm not sure which star witness?

Analysis: George Zimmerman Probably Won't Be Convicted of Murder or Manslaughter -- Here's Why
http://abcnews.go.com/US/george-zimmerman-convicted-murder-manslaughter/story?id=19598422#.UdoyA0Dbirt

Quote
I drew a legal conclusion on "Good Morning America" Saturday that would have surprised the Dan Abrams who covered the George Zimmerman case leading up to, and shortly after, his arrest.

Now that the prosecution's case against Zimmerman is in, as a legal matter, I just don't see how a jury convicts him of second degree murder or even manslaughter in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

So what happened? How can an armed man who shot and killed an unarmed teen after being told by the police that he didn't need to keep following him, likely be found not guilty of those crimes?

I certainly sympathize with the anger and frustration of the Martin family and doubt that a jury will accept the entirety of George Zimmerman's account as credible. But based on the legal standard and evidence presented by prosecutors it is difficult to see how jurors find proof beyond a reasonable doubt that it wasn't self defense.

If they were smart they would be consulting with Mike Nifong right now.

Umm...what?

Prosecutors Drop One Charge, Add Third Degree Murder Charge, Premised on Underlying Charge of... Felony Child Abuse

Yup. Prosecution is slowly realizing that it overreached, and is now changing what it charged him with, in order to confuse the jury, and hopefully come away with a conviction for ANYTHING...  :thatsright:

They all could be grounds for appeal. The judge's behavior to prosecutor.

Switching charges at the end of a trail, with no discovery opportunity to the defense has to be outright prosecutorial misconduct.

It should be a mistrial.

Assuming, of course, the jurors aren't smart enough to see all of the Prosecutorial and Judicial malpractice on display in this case, and simply aquit the innocent man.

I do not see any guarantee that Zimmerman could be acquitted despite an almost all White jury pool. It is all women and they can swayed easily by emotions.

As I indicated in a thread elsewhere: they're Broward County voters. IIRC this was the heart of "hanging chad" country in 2000. Stranger things have occurred.

Doesn't have to be unanimous. Just has to be one holdout, and he'll walk.

that battle-ax faced judge is ordering the jury to contemplate all kinds of charges - I think she desperately wants Z to be convicted of something. I still think it's a no go, and this judge's questioning of why Z didn't testify are certain grounds for appeal.

It's Seminole County, hope Orlando doesn't burn too badly this weekend.

True. I still think the jury pool should of been split half between 3 men and 3 women.

If there's a mistrial or hung jury, doesn't the state have the option of retrying him?  If he's acquitted, that's different.

I was better at this stuff when LA Law was still on the air.

yes, that's true, that's what got Menendez a second trial when stupid women messed up his first one. Anything's possible, including a stalemate resulting in a new trial.

It looks like the judge rejected that travesty and it's back to the original charges, so at least there's a little common sense left.
