Amazing how a reelection can reshape an incumbent's thinking about many things. Now safely ensconced in the White House for 49 more months, the Obamas have decorated the place with 54 Christmas trees this year.

Even allowing for the usual Washington excesses with taxpayer money, that's a whole grove of Christmas trees.

"We have 54 trees in the White House," an excited Michelle Obama proudly told visitors the other day. "54!  That’s a lot of trees."

In fact, the Obamas' 54 trees this year are almost 50% more Christmas trees than last year. That was during the campaign before Obama whispered a reminder to the Russians that he had to be careful until Nov. 6, when a victory would give him more "flexibility."

Now, how much carbon do you suppose those 54 trees could be sequestering had they not been chopped by this green president?

I know you're supposed to recycle those real trees after Christmas but my husband sure gets a kick out of lighting our tree on fire in the ditch.

People used to take their old Christmas trees and weight them down with cement blocks and throw them in the lake to make fish habitats.....you aren't allowed to do that any more....the game wardens frown upon it.

A plastic tree would do just fine, I personally don't see the purpose of this slaughter. Even if they were grown in " nurseries " for just this purpose, it really saddenes me to see such beauties dying stocked up in supermarkets or someones living room.
 

Um, I think the DUmmies are having a brain freeze or they are not up on their eco-friendly practices.

Another thing they don't allow anymore. Used to nail the beads together on old tires, cut a hole in the tread portion of the tire and sink them in shallow to neck deep water. Go back in a few days and pick them up and pour out catfish.....and the occasional snake.
