I happen to have a tree crematoriam in my livingroom.
It gets used quite a bit in the winter.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

My next tree (oak, AFAIK) cremation ceremony will commence at 0530 tomorrow, in my living room. :fuelfire: :yahoo: :whistling:

16. I just dont think we should grow and kill life just for amusement

Growing and killing fetuses on a whim is ok but better not do it to a tree. How can these people even reconcile those two things
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism. -Kenny Powers

11. True, but...

...not sure the tree appreciates it. The husband doesn't get the whole fake tree thing, so we get real ones. We all thank the tree before it's put up and then again when it is taken down. He thought it was silly at first. Now, he gets all emotional just like his wifey

8. I get almost

physically ill when I see trees get cut down.

Doing it for Christmas is just horrendous, IMO.

When I see a giant redwood, I think of how many great decks it could build, and all the barbecues and deep-fried turkeys we could have on those decks.

Why kill the trees ??????   For the same price or close to it one can buy a 2-3 foot spruce tree with root ball and bring it in side, decorare it and later take it outside and plant it in the yard.    No yard, then sell it for half price to a coworker friend of family that has a place for it.  Or give it away, after all if it was dead it would just be thrown out.

Been trying for 20+ years to get hubby to do this, ----He reminds me of Fiddler on the Roof---TRADITION----darn it all.

Neighbor did this about 15 years ago, he went out and dug a hole for the tree when the ground was still soft not frozen.    When I visited them they had the tree with root ball and dirt in a very large pot in his front window all decked out in lights and decorations.  Only a bit less then 3 feet tall and a beauty.    After Christmass he moved the tree to his back porch and wrapped it up in plastic and newspapers and there it sat until March.  He then moved it to it's new home and today it is a good 12 feet tall.  All toll he planted a good 7 of the trees , when his wife died and he moved those trees still remind me of him and wife.--------His home lot was 1/4 acre and became a wonderland of trees.

Trees add to the value of property, even if one lives in a run down trailer park, the first beat up old home to be sold is the one with the most trees and the most cared for shrubs.

The only dead or dieing trees I buy are lumber.

I tried that, it still died. I didn't cry.

Treehuggers= :loser:

I cut and kill trees every day for nothing more than a paycheck, so no, I have nothing against Christmas trees at all.  We enjoy a recently deceased tree every year.
It is kind of amusing being an arborist this time of year, cheap people will snag any thing with needles that we put on the ground.

But the trees were really asking for it!

I want y'all to know that the oak tree cremation started a tad late, but is proceeding nicely at the moment.  Oreo has plopped down about two feet (literally) from the fireplace.  Both my lovely wife and The Heiress are enjoying the cremation as well.

Also, we're going to get one of these:

And, one of these:

http://www.gratewalloffire.com/RF-4-Reflective-Fireback-16-Wide-38-Thick_p_96.html

To further aid our tree cremation process.  We figure that it'll throw a bit more heat into the living space.
