A plastic tree would do just fine, I personally don't see the purpose of this slaughter. Even if they were grown in " nurseries " for just this purpose, it really saddenes me to see such beauties dying stocked up in supermarkets or someones living room.

Kroger was selling these midget trees, about two and a half feet tall.  They're perfect for people like me who don't like decorating.

Exactly.  They are planted ONLY because they are worth so much money several years later.

We are going to cut down one of our own trees this year, for the first time ever!     I found a small stand of junipers all crowded together, so we're going to start thinning by taking one to decorate this year.  I am so excited.

On one of the outer edges of my families home place farm is a strand of about 8 Blue spruce trees my dad started decorating for Christmas yrs ago. They can be see for miles coming down the highway. Over the yrs folks have donated lights,power cords etc to keep the trees lite. Even the local power company started to donate the power used to light them for up to 30 days.

Ugh, that Lorax is Hopehoops avatar.  I'm become allergic to it, the same way with Sabrina's iceskates. 

The DUmmies head would have exploded had she had the same job I did at a groundwood papermill.  The tree is snipped from the ground, cruelly taken from its home to a belching factory.  There it is waterboarded.  Then, it is callously tossed into a huge drum with its brothers and sisters, where they are spun and tossed around and the very force of their colliding skins them alive!!  Then they're ground up into pulp, further refined, and then baked alive on a paper machine!!

Then, it's turned into Christmas wrapping paper.  Merry Christmas!

Pull that poor drowned tree out of the river, cremate it and spread the ashes in your yard....it's the least you can do for the poor thing.
