Socialist Steve Makes His TV Debut - An Unkempt Flop

We all know how the Bostonian Drunkard posts something, and then goes away, expecting the primitives to humbly and gratefully lap up whatever he just posted.

Sometimes the Bostonian Drunkard hangs around, to get engaged with the other primitives adoring his work, but not usually.

franksolich a long time ago--when the big guy was a toddler and franksolich still a nursing infant in diapers, practically--that it's rude to just say something and leave.  If one wants to have meaningful conversation and discussion, one hangs around to hear the reactions of others, and to react to the reactions.

(Hint: it's also a good way to keep one's threads moving.)

This might be why the big guy's campfires gather so little flame; the primitives already know he's not going to respond anyway, so why bother to comment?

I decided to do a little prodding myself. I called the station and talked to the news editor regarding the segment. I mentioned that Steve Dawes was a proponent of one of the major national sites promoting democratic socialism in the United States, and even gave the link to the most bodacious site www.electstevedawes.com. He actually went to the site while I was on the phone, and has made a note of it for the reporter research pool. He even chuckled at the picture of the car; he remembered seeing it at an Omaha restaurant parked amid a lot of late model cars.

So consider the press duly notified of Steve's socialist views, and hope that we can help assist KETV when new news comes out about Steve, which we will certainly see it categorized smartly by www.electstevedawes.com.

Once the big guy realizes he's not nearly as great as he thinks he is--something probably his wife, his sister, his children, his children-in-law, his co-workers, his union buddies, his neighbors, have known for a very long time--then there's no way but up for him, and so it's all good, the sooner he hits his bottom.

This has been a week to remember for me. Tuesday night was my local union meeting. Due to health reasons our Vice President is taking a disability pension. My name got considerable mention as his replacement. It is a full time job.

Wednesday night was the monthly meeting of the Omaha Federation of Labor AFL-CIO. I had missed a few meetings while recovering from my shoulder surgery. Let me just say people enjoy my comments on current labor topics. I'm speaking on labor tomorrow on the steps of the State Capitol.

Thursday afternoon I was in the audience for the Worker's Memorial Day (http://www.workingamerica.org/blog/2011/04/28/workers-m... /) services. Even I didn't know Nebraska was so high on the deaths per 100,000 list at 5th (http://nebraska.statepaper.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2011... ) in the nation. The memorial was held at Omaha's tribute to Labor Sculpture. The second largest in the US. The name of all that died in Nebraska on the job over the last two two years were read. The Memorial Bell was rung once after each name was read. The peacefulness of the Missouri River added to the solemness of the occasion. Also read were those in the armed forces that made to ultimate sacrifice for "peace in our time" from Nebraska over the last two years.


The Omaha Labor Sculpture

Last night was the crowning event of my big week. It was the second annual Democratic Legacy Dinner by the Sarpy County Democratic Party. The fund raiser of the year. Oh what a night. So many stars were shinning. From the grunts to the future leaders of "our" local area party. It was a perfect night.

Marta and I arrived half way through the opening casual drink up mixer hour. We bumped into old friends the moment we walked in the door. It was old home week. We put on our name tags and had an escort to our table. On the way there Peg O'Day Lippert (the event chair) made a big smile and came straight over to Marta and I. She was obviously glad to see us there. She said "be sure you talk to President Truman before sitting down".

We didn't know for sure we would be able to attend. Marta is on call this entire weekend. She has to do system updates tonight starting at midnight and will be at it a couple hours from home.

Immediately after being shown to our table, we headed to the silent auction area. I wanted to see how well our union grown and packed coffee and wine gift basket was doing. By the end of the auction it got it's full value and I was very happy about that. We also won three different items as an icing on the cake.

I picked this for our middle granddaughter:

Marta and I grabbed one bottle of beer each and started mixing with the filled room of party members. After shaking hands and saying hello to everyone we knew, we walked over to talk with President Harry S. Truman. It was some talk. Marta knew several things about his home in Missouri. He was impressed with the trivia we both knew. I talked about his relationship with organized labor. FDR, Truman, and JFK are by far the best friends the house of labor ever had in the White House. I must admit some of the knowledge about his relationship with labor I learned from my "Today in Labor History" posts in the DU Labor Forum. Marta mentioned that Harry is her favorite President. With his vast knowledge and accurate portrayal, it was easy to believe we were talking to the real deal of a man. We bought an autographed copy of his book.

Not to dominate the central figure of the evenings time, we excused our selves as others came over to chat. I saw Senator Ben Nelson and had to use the time wisely. I have written the Senators office a few times this year about labor issues and his distancing from EFCA. His office has extended me the chance to come in any time to talk things over. The first thing I mentioned was that I pretty much run the Labor Forum on the DU. It got his attention. He is well aware of us.   He knows the DU can be critical of him at times. I said that every chance I get, I point out that Nebraska will never elect anyone that even mentions the word liberal. I thanked him for voting at about 80% with labor lifetime in his senate career. I also mentioned five years ago I was in the room of Omaha labor elite that pumped over a quarter of a million dollars into his campaign coffers in an hours time.

Marta and I had a wonderful evening. We put a couple hundred dollars into the county party war chest. The low point was me in a suit for the first time in years. I'll be in a tux next week for a local film event.

I want to thank Peg O'Dea Lippert and Bellevue Councilwoman Carol Blood for the hard work they do to benefit our party. I wish every county party had two just like them.

How about if they mention the word "socialist" Steve?    I completely understand why you are hiding who you are now - that makes your a phony coward of the highest order, but that pretty much is expected of your party as look at your pal Arctic Jodie in Alaska.   She is hiding her socialist roots also.

Very seedy.  I noticed he said "the codes are there to protect the people, not make it harder on them."  That all depends, Steve.  This quote combined with the look on his face--faux concern, highhanded paternalism--was the typical arrogant leftism.  Some codes seem arbitrary and onerous in many locales (just ask Ballygrl and her remodeling nightmares).  Some codes have the stench of crony protectionism, particularly when a union can get its grubby paws involved.

So is this guy Sloan Owens saying that everything on the site www.electstevedawes.com isn't straight from the account of Steve Dawes?  Is Steve Dawes saying he didn't say those things?  

I know he isn't really a player in this run against his opponents but they should really be alerted to his own words.  Shoot, just direct them to the Dump and let them search his posts.  There is plenty to work with.    none of Steve's friends have lied about him or his words he typed.

I know his "people" read this site.  I would like for them to ask Steve if it's not his own words that is in his friends campaign website?  Can Steve Dawes look them in the eye or type that he didn't say each and every word at www.electstevedawes.com ?

It's fun to back and forth between the cons and libs but to clearly lie like he is when there is forever proof on the internet is dispicable.  His "people" should call him out on it.  They shouldn't take pity on him.  They should tell him to own it, if there was nothing wrong when he typed it then then there should be nothing wrong with the voter's knowing about it now.  Am I right or wrong in my thought process here?

That's his biggest problem - It's easy to deny things that are patently false, or ignore things that are nothing more than insults - but how does one deny their own words ? Especially since the makers of http://electstevedawes.com found examples that go back years.

Unless Dawes & Co. can make the case that the VRWC: Temporal Mechanics Division sent one of our own back in time to post things as Omaha Steve on DU & other places to destroy an almost meaningless run for a local office.

Team TM have* much bigger things on their plate than OS. Like funding operations by purchasing a few 'lucky' Powerball tickets, and preventing the successful assassination of President Reagan.

(*'have' is the best word to use, even though the correct word would mean 'have', 'had', and 'will have' all at once. They don't follow many of the laws that govern time & space anymore.)
