I know she's not new. I liken her to a baseball player who has a career batting avg. of .200. One year he puts it all together and hits a .300 avg for one single solitary season, then back to .200 for the remainder of his career.
Besides. If Nadin wins, she should share the award with Google.
2009- Pam Dawson
2010- Anne Pritchett
2011- Nadin and Google
That's one of the problems one encounters when considering candidates for top primitives of the year.
Does one consider them simply on the basis that a particular primitive's been especially remarkable only the past year?
Well, yeah, that's good criteria, a good standard to use.
But what about primitives
who over the years, over a long period of time while not being particularly flashy or flamboyant, but who were of high quality?
Your own nomination of Chief S itting Bull for the Willie is a good example.
Redstone did a few things the years past that warranted consideration for top primitive, but he wasn't
consistently loud,
consistently flashy,
consistently dominating--say, as compared with the greenbriar primitive in 2009--and so he lost out to better-publicized, flashier, primitives.
This year, my own votes are going to be based upon
both criteria, about half-and-half; I'll be voting for primitives who were smash hits this past year, 2011, and at the same time I'll be voting for other primitives who
weren't flashy this past year, but whose conduct over a long period of time warrants their place in the sun.
