I'm a traditionalist, Coach.  Do it the old way.  If one assumes that the DOTY is wrapped up, one won't see the amount of "late surges" coming from the primitives.  Those are always entertaining. :whistling:

I prefer to start out the New Year with the DOTY, rather than have it announced on my birthday.

I can wait the additional 2 days.

Well, you see my concern here, sir, it's for conservativecave as a whole.

The awardment of the Top DUmmie gives us one of our top days of the year, in "traffic."

And that's because of the suspense involved, who's going to win?

But this year it doesn't appear there'll be any suspense.

Surely you could have wrote down a better reason. After all, this reason alone does not make Slutty Sarah exclusively special.  :-)

Rev, that would be true if she were screwing DUmmy men.  She's being done by a conservative guy, who is just probably trying to build up experience in kinky sex practices so that he can brag about having done them on her, to a real conservative woman in the future.

My own personal opinion, but I would say do the Top Dummie on Dec 29th at the earliest time. That way, we look forward to that after #11-20, but there is still #2, #3, and #4 to get to later in the day. As if 2, 3, and 4 were the Top 3. I don't know, it's just an idea for you guys to mull around.

To more clearly illustrate it, this is how you proposed to do it, sir:

29 December -- #04 Top DUmmie
29 December -- Top DUmmie of 2011
30 December -- #03 Top DUmmie
31 December -- #02 Top DUmmie

This is my proposal after #11-20:

29 December -- Top DUmmie of 2011
29 December -- #04 Top DUmmie-later as if #3
30 December -- #03 Top DUmmie-#2
31 December -- #02 Top DUmmie-#1

Like I said...just an idea.

This is just an idea, it's not even set in wet concrete.

Of course, Mr. Wiggum and franksolich reserve the right to give out the awards in the order we think most appropriate, but it's not a big issue with either of us.

And this is your contest; members who nominate and vote.  Mr. Wiggum and I are just the servants here, doing our own labors for the common good of humanity.

My concern is that of "traffic;" if everybody already knows who the winner of the top prize is, traffic would suffer on what's traditionally been one of the busiest days of the year on conservativecave.

It is possible that the Taverner primitive's going to do something especially spectacular that catapults him in front of the current front-runner, in which case all bets are off.  But the Taverner primitive's running out of time; he's got only until 11:59 p.m. central time this coming Saturday, to pull something off.

(And I surely hope the Taverner primitive's reading this.)

I want to make them feel warm and fuzzy.

That's excellent strategy, and I encourage people to do it as much as possible.

Forever engraved in this mind is a headline for a thread written by GOBUCKS.

The primitives were huddled around a campfire discussing wind energy, and GOBUCKS brought it over here.

But rather than saying "DUmmies discuss wind energy," which would've drawn only little attention, if any--I mean, how many people are agog and excited about wind energy?--GOBUCKS wrote "DUmmies discuss wind energy, Las Vegas Lardass weighs in."

Now, that was a master-stroke of sheer creative genius.

An audience may not be interested in wind energy, but it's highly likely they're going to be fascinated by a quarter-tonner's take on the subject.

Sheer genius.

NOT Nadin. This winner should be one that has spent several years in the making. I see Nadin as a one hit wonder.
Whoa there! Nadin is many things, in fact she is most things, but a newcomer she's not.

You should have noticed, in the hopeless drunkard Pitt's hilarious bootheel cat rant, nutcase nadin was right there offering to help Pitt and the sensitive lad beat coach into a pulp.

That makes her one of the DUmp's most senior lunatics.

I know she's not new. I liken her to a baseball player who has a career batting avg. of .200. One year he puts it all together and hits a .300 avg for one single solitary season, then back to .200 for the remainder of his career.

Besides. If Nadin wins, she should share the award with Google.

2010- Anne Pritchett
2011- Nadin and Google

That's one of the problems one encounters when considering candidates for top primitives of the year.

Does one consider them simply on the basis that a particular primitive's been especially remarkable only the past year?

Well, yeah, that's good criteria, a good standard to use.

But what about primitives who over the years, over a long period of time while not being particularly flashy or flamboyant, but who were of high quality?

Your own nomination of Chief S itting Bull for the Willie is a good example.

Redstone did a few things the years past that warranted consideration for top primitive, but he wasn't consistently loud, consistently flashy, consistently dominating--say, as compared with the greenbriar primitive in 2009--and so he lost out to better-publicized, flashier, primitives.

This year, my own votes are going to be based upon both criteria, about half-and-half; I'll be voting for primitives who were smash hits this past year, 2011, and at the same time I'll be voting for other primitives who weren't flashy this past year, but whose conduct over a long period of time warrants their place in the sun.

You have a point.

Ideally, a potential winner should work up the charts in successive years. Finishing 10th three years ago, 7th two years ago and 2nd last year. You would then become the odd on favorite to win it all this year.

Then again I might favor that way because I just don't care for Nadin and am looking for a way to disallow her contributions.

.....I just don't care for Nadin and am looking for a way to disallow her contributions.

Well, it'd be nice if the Taverner primitive were reading this, and did something really stupid.

The Taverner primitive's probably far behind in the polls when compared with nadin, but he's the primitive with the best chance to leap-frog over her.  It'd depend upon how stupid whatever it is the Taverner primitive does, but trust me, if the Taverner primitive did something really stupid, he'd have at least a 1-in-2 chance of overtaking her these final days.

As far as I can discern, the sparkling husband dude is the only other primitive who could possibly surge into the first place, but he'd have to do something even more remarkable, more stupid, than what the Taverner primitive does; I'd rate the sparkling husband dude's chances as 1-in-100, if he could do that.

I dunno what it'd take--maybe if the sparkling husband dude sent his business associates Louie the Orthopaedic Surgeon, Alphonse the Dentist, and Manny the Cobbler (specializing in concrete footwear, of course) to the corporate offices of Skins's island to threaten my fellow alum, that might do it.

I'll be posting the current list of nominations, updated from last time, both here and at our old home sometime Wednesday evening, when the final few days for nominations start winding down.

I was busy today--my head hurts as much as my body--and I'll be busy for three more days yet.

But Wednesday night-Thursday-Friday-Saturday of this week should be enough time for those examining the list to make further nominations, and of course I'll fill in the omissions when locking this thread Saturday night.

And then the ballot will come out circa suppertime next Sunday, December 4, accompanied with a brief description of each primitive on the ballot.`

This morning, before I head out, I'm nominating cbayer the thread-slayer for top primitive of 2011.

Really, one's awed by how much the Bayer aspirin primitive's always on the ball, 24/7/365, ready to douse campfires hardly seconds after they've been lit.

And my suggestion to the Bayer aspirin primitive is that she or he, whatever, start following around any primitive that's been mentioned on this nomination thread, to shut things down the minute a nominated primitive violates one of Skins's best-known and most-easily-obeyed rules.

My fellow alum's magnanimous enough to give the primitives a place to romp and play; his asking that we not be mentioned doesn't seem an onerous burden to bear.

I haven't quite made my mind up on everything yet but I'm nominating Nads for the Willie. If anyone represents DU and has made them infamous across the Internets it's her. She's the perfect know nothing know-it-all, done-it-all everyDUmmie with a perfect mix of arrogance and stupidity.

For me the Golden Bong Award nominee is Firebrand Gary. No one occupies the express lane while whipping out his cell phone and googling corporate profits like him! Then, as a good DUmmie should, he gives his very best stump speech in support of the working man. To ravenous, slathering applause, of course.

Excuse me, but would it be OK to make a speech to push my personal favorite candidate?

If so please take this post as evidence of why this woman deserves the DOTY:

1. Marco Rubio is getting rich pretending he was born in Cuba

He's as sleezy as his Repuke politics. Meanwhile, the Miami Cuban enclave will vote for anyone. They don't bother to read about issues or anything at all. You just mention the word, 'Cuba' and 'freedom' and they vote for you, even if you stand against their other interests, because they literally know nothing at all in Miami. Ignorance is rampant there. I know. I lived there for many years and it was embarrassing.

When has Marco Rubio ever said he was born in Cuba? He was born in Miami to Cuban immigrant Parents.

3. EXACTLY! Being a Latino and being Repuke, is incredibly stupid.

It makes no sense at all to be Repuke being Latino. None.

BTW, the proper term according to Hispanic Trends, the majority prefer use of the word Hispanic as opposed to Latino.

I have given several mentions to CC's DOTY contest on my latest DUFU, DUmmie FUnnies 11-28-11 ("Occupy San Diego Flash Mob Invades Wal-Mart"), in the DUFU itself and in Post 10:

[DUmmie nadinbrzezinski . . . going to Conservative Cave to see how she's doing in the race for DUmmie of the Year.]

[BTW, Sarah Ibarruri, you would be my runner-up to nadinbrzezinski for DUmmie of the Year. Good luck to both of you!]

franksolich of Conservative Cave has told me to tell you all, you DUFU Pingees, that you too are eligible to nominate for the Top DUmmies of 2011, and there are several different awards to be given out:

Official Nomination Thread for the Top DUmmies of 2011

You can go to Conservative Cave's "The DUmpster" to make your nominations and comments, or you can do that here, only if you do that here, it will be up to franksolich or Ballygrl or another Cave-dweller to relay that over to the Cave. You've got till the end of this Saturday, December 3, to make your nominations.
Co-host (with PJ-Comix) of the DUmmie FUnnies, both on Free Republic and at the DUmmie FUnnies' own blogspot.

Excuse me, but would it be OK to make a speech to push my personal favorite candidate?

That's one of the uses of the nomination thread, to "campaign" for one's favorites.

There's a little bit of that that goes on in the voting thread, but by then it's usually too late.

Campaign away.
