Not everyone who steals does so because they're "down on their luck". A thief will steal as the opportunity presents itself. Most poor people I have ever met would much rather swallow their pride and seek charity for themselves and their families rather than dishonor themselves and deprive others by stealing. Are there no food stamps, WIC, or food banks where this DUmmy lives. There's a good chance that the thief, seeing bags in an unlocked car, thought there might be something really valuable in them and just grabbed them up. If the DUmbass had just driven around the block, she might have found her groceries and bags just dumped out on the ground somewhere, the thief being disappointed that he got nothing but pumpkin donuts, or whatever.

That's assuming, of course, that a word of her story is true.

But the possibility of it just being the work of an opportunistic thief wouldn't fit into the narrative of all the "poor, desperate people out there starving to death as a result of Rethuglican policies". Nor would it allow for the sidelong self-congratulatory pose of being, "not vindictive to those who are not as fortunate as me".  :whatever:

I think every DUmmy reading here and there needs to hand out $44 worth of food once a week all year long so needy people aren't forced to steal.

110. I was burglarized one Christmas years ago.

 This was back near the end of Bush Sr's term. My daughter was only 3 or 4 at the time, and we'd gone to my brother's house overnight for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.

When we got home and discovered the theft, the items missing were:

1 Christmas ornament off our little tree;
1 new stuffed toy;
1 blanket;
1/2-gallon of milk and every bit of nonperishible food.

Someone with a child, hungry, took only what they needed.

The wrapping paper from the stuffed toy (a gorgeous life-sized white cat) had obviously been torn off by a child and was in a heap on the floor. My child said, "She just wanted a Christmas present, too," and I hugged her with tears in my eyes. She understood even then.

Although we had little to spare back then, I wished I'd left some cash laying around.

Thanks for sharing your story, DainBramaged. At the very least, you've inspired some new donations to food pantries and help organizations.

I see they don't lock the house either.   :whatever:  BOUNCE SKY HIGH.   :lmao:

So I'm getting the DUmmies have no problem with you stealing from them as long as you say you're needy.

Or is it because that's the excuse they use when they steal ?

26. I am far from well off, that $44 was 2/3 of my grocery budget for the week
 but I have an apartment, I have a car, and I'll have to think about those Almond Joys when I'm eating my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch at work for the 20th+ week in a row.........

Sounds to me like his car payment is more than his grocery budget, way to prioritize DUmmie.

Oh FFS, the burglars are bringing the kids along now, too, so they can select their stolen Christmas gifts?

They're not even trying anymore. Zero  :stoner:'s awarded.

I'm still trying to figure out this, uh, rather gratuitous snippet of information:

I once had some colorful ceramic gnomes.  Two, in a rock garden on the side of my house.

I came home one day and found them gone.  I did weep and sob over the loss but my heart knew someone that couldn't afford gnomes probably needed them more than me.

I sure hope they have a happy home.   :rotf:  I can't afford to replace them but I do pray for them and their new owners.

Since that day, I have given regularly to the traveling gnome for their Lost Gnome Foundation.  It's not a lot of money but I know it will help at least one gnome get back home safe.

In the spirit of shadeaux's generosity on supplying money for lost gnomes-

The previous owners of our home had their United States flag stolen off of the front of the house.  A few days later, whoever took it brought it back, and reinstalled it on the receptacle on the house.  Obviously, this was a downtrodden person in need of some patriotism, and couldn't afford a flag of their own.

On that note, I'm willing to purchase and install a deluxe United States flag in a prominent location of my choosing on any DUmmie's home/apartment/section 8 housing, that would like to express their patriotism, but cannot afford to do so.   :popcorn:

I believe in Jesus and what he taught, and maybe that's why Republicans have so much hate in their hearts, because punishment is better to them than a full stomach.

His point, dipshit, is you should not encourage this. It may not be an inconvenience to you, but what if it had been a family raising children who have a 300 budget a month for food and they just lost 15% of that budget to a thief? What if that was the last 44 bucks a single mother had until payday in a few days and now she has very little to feed her children? Seriously, think, dummie...even if true(likely not) your tacit approval only encouraged that thief to do it again. The next person very well may not be able to weather that kind of thievery like you did and they may have other mouths relying on them being able to get their hard-earned groceries home without a tweaker pilfering them.  :hammer: :hammer:

I've been thinking about something ever since I first read this some hours ago.

Surely the brain-damaged primitive means "the difference," but maybe not.

I noticed that too, frank. I like how he uses 'non-friend'; it reminds me of a Frenchman taking off his glove and slapping another man across the face. I guess it was supposed to have a sting from the icon of goodness and generosity that is brain-damaged. Saint brain-damaged has spoken...

Shut up your bitchin' Dain you worthless parasite.

You should feel proud that your property was redistributed to the needy without your consent and without any verification of what constitutes needy.

Except you won't of course. Wealth redistribution only applies to people who don't support wealth redistribution.

Heh, my Mom came home from Montana one year for Christmas.  Gave me all my brother's Christmas presents to take to my home and wrap.  It was bad weather, so I tossed em in my backseat.  Drove home, and thought I would just leave em out there because I didn't want to lug the stuff in.  Car got broken into.  All the stuff got stolen.  You can't replace all that Montana Micro-Brew, and syrup, preserves, and what all.   :thatsright:

Now there is one of those things that I've always fretted about, and worry that by the time I get around to making a choice, the perp will have left my home.  Should I use the shotgun, or the handgun?  I know the shotgun is more devastating, but I'd really like to use the handgun, too.

Oh, well.  Maybe if someone breaks in, and the spousal unit is around, she can wield the shotgun, whilst I use the handgun.  Decisions, decisions.
