Had my groceries disappear out of my car on the way home.

My two favorite no longer available Target bags, one canvas one burlap, bread, Swiss cheese, three Stonyfield 32 oz yogurts, bag of Almond Joy minis for my lunches this week, Olivio, foot long turkey and swiss sandwich from the deli for dinner tonight, corn muffins, pumpkin donuts, bananas, eggs, pancake syrup and a 12 pack of Lipton citrus tea. $44 worth of groceries in total. And the bags had the bread and eggs visible under the light where I was parked.

I work in a town where you don't really have to worry about stuff disappearing. I usually don't lock my doors where I get my lottery ticket, so I didn't tonight. There was a young guy in at the same time I was buying a candy bar, but with with change. Unkempt, and not clean looking. thin dirty jacket and skull rag on his head. He came in the back door almost simultaneously, went out the front into the area where I was parked after the cashier counted his change (OUT LOUD which was embarrassing as hell). He did not look like he was doing OK.

Got my ticket, yakked with the cashier a few, looked at the new Car and Driver, went out to the car, opened the door, and noticed the bags were gone off my passenger front seat. I thought for a couple of minutes, and let it go. Anyone who is hungry enough to steal groceries needs them way way more than I do.

I hope he enjoys the pumpkin donuts.......he needs them way way more than I do. And I hope he shares his good fortune with his friends or family. Even in one of the richest counties in America, we have a lot of people in need, but they get ignored.

Have a nice evening.

I know this is mean and horrible, but :nelson:

Looks like the 99% occupied his groceries.  :rotf:
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

The brain-damaged primitive can view the theft of his groceries the same way decent and civilized people view the theft of their hard-earned money for welfare to support the primitives.

BS dummie..you are just out the money...He sounds like a tweeker that probably thought you had more then that in the bottom of the bags(he even if you had a carton of smokes, he could sell that for cash for a habit). He just didn't have time to inspect exactly what you had in there before you got out so he took the bags. My guess is he left all your crap sitting in a back alley somewhere to rot. Your 44 bucks really went far didn't it? This is probably one thing I hate about liberals the ****ing most--they are such moronic romantics when it comes to human nature and for the worst of humanity. A tweeker out there stealing anything he can find to support a drug habit is somehow the kid in the Christmas shoes song, but a woman going door to door asking for donations to a Christian charity might as well be the devil herself. Twisted freaks.

Damn, madam, I'll bet you're exactly right.

The guy was probably hoping there was booze or smokes in there, and dumped the rest.

You just refreshed my memory a little, in the original bouncy the victim caught up to the thief and after looking him/her up and down for a few minutes gave him/her the rest of the grocery's that were not taken.  I'm sure I would not be too far off if I threw in some admiring onlookers a little applause and a promise from the thief to vote for Obama, hopey changey you know.

I think the story is what he told his mom.
She gave him a list of stuff to buy, and he blew the money on drugs.

"Oh Noes! Groceries was (gasp) stolen!" He proclaimed loudly. "Gimmie some more money and I'll go back. What, your going yourself? OK. I'll watch TV in the basement (and smoke my crack)."

A young man, driven by hunger and desperation, stole groceries from my neighbor yesterday..
I just got back in from talking to my neighbor this morning.

She told me that she had 3 bags full of groceries stolen from her car yesterday. Apparently she had just finished doing her weekly food shopping and, leaving the car unlocked and running, made a quick trip into the post office. As she was walking back out, she saw that her car door was wide open and a there was a young man running off w/some of her groceries. She said that he looked to be about 14 to 16 years of age, thin and a bit disheveled.

He hadn't gotten very far. In fact, she said she probably could have caught up w/him if she wanted to. But instead, she just watched as he went off. Before he turned the corner onto another street, he briefly looked back and they made eye-contact. He looked scared she said, and sad. Then in that very brief moment, he mouthed the words, "I'm sorry", and continued on.

Stunned, she slowly got back in her car. Nothing but the food had been taken. Not her GPS, nor even her laptop which was in the back seat covered by the groceries that the young man had taken. He had to have seen it.

She says she cannot stop thinking about the whole incident and especially that very brief exchange they had had. He had missed one other bag and she briefly considered trying to catch up w/him and hand over that one too. But didn't. She said she is angry w/herself for not having tried to find him. I consoled her as best I could, but she was still clearly deep in thought as we parted company. And now, so am I.

What is happening to us as country?
“Don’t vote for the person who tells you you deserve something. Just don’t do it if it’s something other than life, liberty, or the pursuit of possible happiness. You're aware of course, madam, that the brain-damaged primitive is Ballygrl's neighbor in New Jersey.

If it happened in Newton NJ then it's not that uncommon.

If he lives and works in Sussex County by choice, BTW the reddest County in NJ, that just really amuses me :lmao:, BMW and Mercedes are NOT THE NORM, regular cars and SUV's yes. Not sure if he works in Sussex County though, and Newton is a total dive but the rest of the County is nice.

Mercedes and Beema's have great lock and alarm systems on the remote. One push of the button and armed they are.

This is just a feel good bouncy from drainbramage for cred.

And the post from yard(piece of)work is priceless as well.  PM me your Paypal account?  Oh yeah, like that would be any kind of a good idea.

Just a quick survey, how many here can receive funds in their Paypal account?? ( inquiring minds want to know)

6. Stealing somebody else's groceries is not OK

You should ask if the store had a camera watching the parking lot. It could be easy to nab him that way.

Had he stolen the groceries directly from the store, well that would not be OK either, but it is less of an outrage that stealing them from another customer who uses his/her hard earned money to buy food.

Edited on Fri Nov-04-11 08:52 PM by Zanzoobar

It was someone else's stuff and you were watching it get stolen.

I understand that it's cool with you if someone de-bags you of groceries. But if you had watched the theft, how would you make a judgement on who needed the food more? The swiper or the guy trying to feed his kids?

What if someone had bonked the pilferer over his head? He might have thought your kids were waiting for dinner.

What if your thief traded your food at a crack house?

It just seems to me you've made a judgement when none is due, either way.

Well, when I was leaving Whole Foods today, I stopped at the Chevron on the corner to get some unhealthy snacks Whole Foods didn't offer.  I live in Las Vegas, so I always leave my car doors unlocked and car running.  I stayed in the store chatting with the cashier about daily events.  When I came back out, my car and $500 worth of food was GONE!  I had to walk home with nothing.  It was so embarrassing.

PM me if you want my Paypal address.
