kind of a bland speech so far. Not bad but not great so far.

On edit:

Good story on Katrina "government is not the answer"
"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

Jindal's speech is pretty unimpressive so far.
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." --Norman Thomas, 1944

the message is infinitely superior . . . but he seems overly stage managed so far, a la sarah palin.  they should have let bobby be bobby.

the "half underwater and half under indictment" comment was great.

Oh damn, Jindal is the exact opposite of Obama. He can speak from the hip with the wit of a scholar, but can't speak in front of a teleprompter worth a damn.
NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

I'm glad "American's can do anything" was not part of the drinking game.

Hell, I could have given a better speech.

matthews is criticizing jindal for being the governor of LA, and talking about not taking government money . . . even though that state "did pretty well in the department" . . .

Even Britt Hume said it wasn't Bobby's greatest moment. But what he said made sense. He might not be the polished speaker that Obama is, but his thoughts are better.

Krauthammer is saying that it was tough coming on after Obama, but perhaps Americans will someday listen. Said he had a hard task and did the best he could.

Hell, I could have given a better speech.

he had a tough act to follow;  a joint session of congress, & etc.  but it was pretty much a failure.

Jindal is new to the national spotlight. He's a LOT better without a teleprompter:

I suspect that the national party sent someone down there and screwed him up.  they should have left him alone;  let him write his own speech, and deliver it the way he wanted to.

I wish he would have spoken like that tonight.  His speech tonight was a huge disappointment for me.
