Even Britt Hume said it wasn't Bobby's greatest moment. But what he said made sense. He might not be the polished speaker that Obama is, but his thoughts are better.

Krauthammer is saying that it was tough coming on after Obama, but perhaps Americans will someday listen. Said he had a hard task and did the best he could.

That is the best summary I've seen yet. The content of the speech beat Obama hands down but the delivery was pretty weak.
"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

He's a Brown grad and a Rhodes Scholar. They should have just let him ad lib it. I've seen the guy speak off the cuff and he's phenomenal.

I wish he would have spoken like that tonight.  His speech tonight was a huge disappointment for me.

Seemed like he was trying to be too damn nice. If he'd just speak to us like a statesman, he'd have swayed the country. Like WE, I think some Republican operative got to him and told him "how it was supposed to be done". .....which, in fact, was NOT how it was supposed to be done.

They trying to force him to be a conservative version of Obama?

yep.  and after watching sarah palin get overly managed during the campaign, i am beginning to think that the party apparatus is a bigger part of the problem than I imagined.

Like those Republican operatives did such a good job with McCain and Palin.  :whatever: It's time the Republicans clean house or we're all doomed.

I honestly can't tell you what they were trying to do to him.  lots of emphasis on bipartisanship, too many anecdotes, and that strange and unnatural inflection in his voice . . . the whole thing was un jindal-like.

Perky Little Katie Couric analyzed his speech in less than a minute thirty with some douchebag reporter who used the phrase "GRAVE differences... Grave" about 60 times.  Then they went back to how nice Barack smells and how they wished he would just once look back at them in chemistry class. :whatever:

That is my preference also, but I doubt it's gonna happen.

Too many well connected entrenched players.

Katie Couric. WTFever. Jindal turned down Harvard and Yale medical schools after taking his MCAT to attend Oxford U. as a Rhodes Scholar. I don't think Katie wants to make her idiotic ass look THAT dumb.

let's see.  universal health care, universal college education, energy independence, punishment for participating in the free market, punishment for personal success, abandoning iraq (which I don't think he is going to do)  . . . did I miss anything?

oh, yes.  it is all george bush's fault.

Hell, Kev, you & I are "MENSA" quality. That said, MENSA  is little more than a special club where supposed intellectuals can go to mutually mental masturbate each other.

kind of a bland speech so far. Not bad but not great so far.

On edit:

Good story on Katrina "government is not the answer"

That was the only part of the speech I saw.  I liked it.
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

Damn straight. Jindal's response was lacking in focus and professionalism. Barack Hussein Obama's  speech was very totalitarian, and just plain weird - all Americans are now going to go back to college for another year and worship the government forever he thinks?
