Title: campaign thread for the Top DUmmies of 2013
Post by: franksolich on December 06, 2013, 01:30:12 PM

Welcome to the first of two campaign-and-voting threads for the Top DUmmies of 2013!

The second thread, for those who wish to express their sentiments about primitives, but only to a select audience, is at: http://www.conservativecave.com/index.php/topic,92629.0.html

Voting will be open from breakfast-time Sunday morning, December 8, through supper-time Saturday evening, December 14.

This thread, and the other one, will be “locked” to comments until the final ballot is appended Sunday morning.  After that, both threads are wide open, receptive for comments.

All voting is done by secret ballot, and one may do so by sending one’s votes to Ralph Wiggum here, or to him at: ralphwiggumcave@outlook.com  Mr. Wiggum counts the votes and keeps them confidential; franksolich simply writes the awards, nothing more.

The recommended way of voting is via personal message to Mr. Wiggum here on conservativecave.

One is free to reveal how one has voted, in either of the two threads, but remember, those comments aren’t votes; they’re just comments.  Please vote first, and then comment away all one wants.

Anyone in the whole wide world with an e-mail address is eligible to vote, but Mr. Wiggum retains the right to determine if a particular voter is bona fide or malicious, and has the right to reject any ballots he believes are not sincere.

- - - - - - - - - -

After one has voted, one can change one’s votes any time up until the polls close Saturday evening, but when changing votes, please advise Mr. Wiggum it’s a change in votes, not an original ballot.  He’s going to double-check anyway, but it’s a courtesy.

- - - - - - - - - -

One may vote for ten primitives for Top DUmmie of 2013.

Votes are valuable; please don’t not use them, and vote for ten, not one or three or six or something.

One may vote for one each for each of the special awards; the ballot’s pretty much self-explanatory.

- - - - - - - - - -

Votes for the top five DUmmies ARE WEIGHTED.

When voting, one should rank his top five preferences, #1, #2, #3, #4, #5.

Mr. Wiggum will then assign 5 votes to one’s first choice, four to one’s second, three to one’s third, two to one’s fourth, and one to one’s fifth.

Then one should list five more primitives in no particular order; primitives whom one thinks should be Top DUmmies, but not quite as high as one’s first five choices.  Mr. Wiggum will then assign one-half vote to each of them.

The reason one’s top ten choices aren’t all weighted is because after about the first five, it gets murky, trying to decide if a primitive should be #6 or #8 or #10 or somewhere in between.

- - - - - - - - - -

Finally, I have to express my personal appreciation to Mr. Wiggum, who started the Top DUmmies back in 2005, but then time and circumstances gave the honor, the distinction, the joy, of writing the awards to me, franksolich.

Mr. Wiggum was not around to count the votes last year, during which time I learned what a nuisance, what a trouble, what a bother, it is.  I don’t want to count votes again, ever.  It’s a pain, and I’m very happy Mr. Wiggum is taking care of that end for me.

It’s really great, how two very different people can work so well together.  On one hand, we got a guy who’s a professional, who’s good with chicks, who oozes confidence and competence out of every pore, and on the other hand, we got another guy who’s loud and raucous and breaks things.

But it works.  Probably because neither of us are primitives.

Suggestion:

Due to the length of the list of candidates running for Top DUmmies--although the ballot's been longer than this a couple of other times--rather than scanning the roster and selecting ten, do this:

First, think of your favorite primitives, then look at the list, to see if they're on it.

If one is not sure the exact identity of a primitive--we do after all give them nicknames more sensible than their screen-names--this thread is where one should inquire; feel free to ask here before voting.

Okay now, this isn’t a voting thread, as all votes are done via personal message or e-mail.  This is a campaign thread, and one can vote, and then change one’s votes, up until the polls close.

But my choices, I think, are pretty much engraved in granite.

Anyone’s free however to tell me if I’m wrong, and why I should change my mind.

Did you make a mistake by selecting NYC_SKP as a top 5?

I well aware of who he is but he has not done anything of note. As far as I can tell, he's barely made a dent on the DUmmy radar.

I'm disappointed. You selections are usually more carefully thought out.

Oh now.

Granted, Skippy was a PonP nearly all year long, a primitive of no prominence, a lumpenunterprimitiven, one of the faceless lynch mob, a DUmmie scarcely worth a second glance.....that is, until he complained about a minor trivial inconsquential little mistake I'd made five years ago, which abruptly caused me to stand up and take notice.

It was one of those instances where I had the potential to make 5,053 errors--this was back when Skins allowed the primitives to change their screen-names--but made only one.  One mistake out of 5,053.

One mistake out of 5,053; that's practically error-free.

Now, if it'd been my good pal Manny, the MannyGoldstein primitive, who noticed the error, rather than gloating, "ha ha, franksolich made a mistake, ha ha, these freepers are really stupid, ha ha," he would've said "wow, franksolich made only one mistake, when he could've made as many as 5,053; that's impressive, only one mistake out of 5,053 possible mistakes."

But of course, Manny knows how to win friends and influence people; Skippy doesn't.

So, yes, I will admit it was a grudge nomination, and this is a grudge vote.

- - - - - - - - - -

However, a good case otherwise can be made for selecting Skippy to the top ten; he's the classic enabler, the male version of the CalPig primitive.  He's always cheering other primitives on, in their pursuits of one disastrous course or another--Amber and walrus-face being the more-prominent examples, but he does it a lot--but like the CalPig primitive, that's all he does.

Says some nice encouraging words, as if it's as good as sending cash or giving some other type of assistance.

And he imagines himself a very nice person, simply because he says nice things.

I still don't buy it. Unlike DUmmies, I believe in the freedom for the right to vote for the nominee of your choice.*

*Even if it's a wasted vote.

I'll make my choices later today, after I give it some serious thought.

I'll make my choices later today, after I give it some serious thought.

Oh now, give some thoughts to Skippy.

Skippy and the CalPig primitive are very much alike; they might as well be twins.

You remember the now-late wiley50 primitive, the worthless freeloading bum who was building an ark up in the mountains and forests of Tennessee, that he was hoping to float out to sea, escaping from America but at the same time collecting American social services?

The old guy who was addicted to marijuana and pain-killers?  The one who had a couple of dozen or so children by different women, scattered all over the country?  The one who worked under the table so as to not have his pay seized for overdue child-support?

His landlord in Tennessee finally kicked him off the property, keeping the half-built shell of the ark, and the wily primitive hoofed it to California.  He was hoping to get supported by an abandoned son of his, but really, he had no place to go.

The CalPig primitive wished him luck; the usual nice words.

The wily primitive asked the CalPig primitive, who lives in a palatial house with lots and lots of room, if he could shack up there a while.

The CalPig primitive never responded.

Some months later, the wily primitive died, of exposure.

I always blamed his death on the CalPig primitive.  She had the means to help him, but didn't.  All she did was utter nice words, as if that was all he needed.

Now, Skippy has nowhere near the means that the CalPig primitive, who's loaded, does.

But it drives me nuts that he thinks he's such a nice person, because he says nice words.

<<<says nice words all the time, but doesn't think that makes a nice person.

Of course, one must substitute "bright" with "mentally competent" in the case of the pie-and-jam primitive.

Really, she's very silly, and I'm surprised her guardians--her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and adult great-great-grandchildren--haven't yet smashed her computer to pieces so she'd stop making herself look bad.

That's a solid reason. What's holding her back is her lack of postings overall. She just isn't the same since she moved out of the attic.

That's a solid reason. What's holding her back is her lack of postings overall. She just isn't the same since she moved out of the attic.

She used to be a lot more frequent; in fact, she was one of the top primitives in the cooking and baking forum.

But when dear old sweet Lu took over the forum, Lu decided that because she had the title, she didn't have to do any work in it; all she had to do was sit around like a regal queen bee while the drones started the topics and made the comments.

It had an obvious effect on grasswire--and other formerly prolific posters in the cooking and baking forum--who, when seeing Lu wasn't doing any work, thought, "well, why should I, if she's not?"

And hence the unhappy decline of that forum, once the most lively "small" forum on Skins's island, which provided the DUmpster with tons of comedy material.

I wonder how poor addled grasswipe Judy Smith hoards. She's homeless, squatting in an abandoned bodega up there in the edge of Portland, Oregon.

She totters up and down the sidewalks, bundled in multiple overcoats summer and winter, tugging a little red wagon heaped with treasures she finds in the devil strip on trash pickup days. She also collects hair clippings in little medicine bottles.

Now in her early 70s, she still mutters about the pie shop that never was, her fantasy from nearly three years ago. http://www.oregonlive.com/milwaukie/index.ssf/2011/03/pieandjam_shop_to_open_along_the_trolley_trail_aid_local_music_programs.html

As comically addled as she is, she tries mightily to sound normal, clued-in, authoritative, resulting in hilarity that embarrasses her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren. (The Smith clan breeds like fruit flies.)

All that makes her a great candidate for the Rob McGrath Award.

One of the deals about never having seen many movies is that one tends to remember those movies one's seen, all of them.

I'm reminded of an old black-and-white "art" movie by Bertolt Brecht or Thomas Mann--I forget which one--where there's a deranged old woman walking among the dead on a battlefield during the Thirty Years' War, "Christians, awake!  The winter's gone!  The snows depart, the dead sleep on...."

But instead of that, I'm seeing multi-overcoated Judy pulling her little red wagon, droning "Free pies for the rich!  The poor gotta pay!" in reference of course to that she was going to give away free pie to well-paid governmental bureaucrats, but charge the poorer people.

Though I'd still vote for poor addled grasswipe Judy Smith, poor stupid rsmithnumbers deserved a nomination and consideration for the Rob.

I feel awful for having failed to nominate poor stupid rsmithnumbers for the "Rob McGrath" award.

Though I'd still vote for poor addled grasswipe Judy Smith, poor stupid rsmithnumbers deserved a nomination and consideration for the Rob.

There were a few good ones who were overlooked.

But there's just so many.....like for the Willie, for example, the most memorable primitive.  I voted for Chief S itting Bull, the bird-smaking stoned red-faced primitive, because I honestly and sincerely believe the late Redstone was the Greatest Primitive, Ever.  And he hasn't been honored yet.

But at the same time, I was torn about poor stupid Beth, surely one of the most memorable primitives ever, too, and years and years overdue for an honor.  And she's the primitive who should've been the very first Top DUmmie, back in 2005.

But I had to go with Redstone this year, with hopes of going for Beth next year.

For those seeking more information--for voting purposes, of course--about both Chief S itting Bull and poor stupid Beth:

Skippy is hard to read at times. He's an ardent supporter of the 2nd Amendment. Him and jugs don't agree on much. Now that she's a host of the anti gun forum, he managed to find himself on their iggy list.

Of course she's been peeking.  Which is okay.

I'm hoping she wins one of the top ten spots in the Top DUmmies of 2013, because if she does, I can write a whale of an award for her, a literary masterpiece that she'd be proud to print out, frame, and hang on the wall in her office.

Well now, I'm making a big deal about how I voted for primitives I want the most to write about.

That's not necessarily the best criteria when choosing candidates.

I urge all voters to vote their consciences, not to vote the way I did because it pleases me.

I'll live; I can write about primitives I don't want to write about.

You've known me long enough to know that I can't be swayed.

I'm just saying I'll give it all some additional thought. There's room for those that deserve it most. Myself, like others I'm sure, selected a DUmmy just to give them a small sign of recognition, knowing that they no chance of winning. If they receive no votes after being nominated, that's fine. Just being nominated is what separates them from the total dreks, those that never have and never will see their name in print at CC.

We have 10 votes for top ten. I'll cast them wisely.

In case anyone forgets why nadin is really the only candidate for the "Nadin", from the vault here is one of her classic threads about the Japanese earthquake. Her arrogance is on a different plane from any other DUmmy, even the drunken Pitt. One thing that strikes me about it is how nearly all these 2011 nadinbullies are now gone:

Ok I want you people to understand something right now

in a regular, every day quake, you got logistics issues... which translates into :

FOOD,
WATER
FUEL
MEDICAL SUPPLIES
TENTS.
DOGS
RESCUERS that can self maintain

yep the list familiar from many a quake and other disaster.

Here they also have people inside the exclusion zone. From a TRIAGE perspective it is not that people are afraid to go in there to get them. Just that going in will get more people killed... now or later... really does not matter.

As an Emergency Worker it gets to the point that you have to give up... and it might seem cruel... given thousands are still in the zone from what I can read... but this is the reality of it.

And typing this is hard, because these people LOOK healthy, can talk to you, and all that.

Radiation just adds all kinds of complications and if I were in charge of operations (which I am thankful I am not) after a similar event around oh San Onofre... yes I would have to write off people...

This is the way it is... cruel, cold yes... unfortunately the needs of the few do not override the needs of the many.. even if the few are a few thousand people.

Nor would I ask any crew member of mine to go in... with or without equipment. I would not ask that... either.

It goes without saying... NOBODY DESERVES THIS, but this is the very cold and bitchy reality.

Why I was hopping for these people, but as long as this goes on... yes somebody pretty high up has made that decision... and no, it has nothing to do with capitalism but all to do with TRIAGE. Oh and incidentally if I happened to be inside the exclusion zone... I pretty much expect to be left behind... that is the way it is.

30. Amen, She posts these to "inform" us "ignorant" folks every time any event
happens which remotely justifies such a post. Never mind that others here at DU are M.D.s and nurses and have worked in the medical field for years. Or that the rest of the DU community understands the situation perfectly well. OP is convinced that there is a very high level of ignorance that she needs to address, again and again, with a strange sort of enthusiam, reminding us that many must die! (all caps, etc.)

8. It does, trust me all the triage I ever had to do was
let go a three year old (open skull fracture) who was still breathing when we got on scene and take care of her uncle... with a femur fracture.

But the logic is very nice on paper, a bitch to implement If people can leave on their own, they will be taken off... but who knows how much contamination they already have, gross and internal... so you may help them to die... that is the bitchy thing about radiation

125. All right, look -- here's the deal.
I'm going to say this even thought I'm pretty sure you've got me on ignore. English is not your first language. You're not a native-born American. The phrase "OK I want you people to understand something right now" is something only a few people would utter, and those people would be:

1. An ineffective coach trying to give a pep talk to a bunch of half-assed players who don't give a shit.
2. A timid boss who suddenly tries to prove something some employees who generally get their work done well and on time.
3. A parent who has never had control of his/her children.
4. A principal in a John Hughes movie.

So pardon ****ing those of us whose hackles go up when you take this ****ing tone with us. You'd think after awhile you'd learn, or ask what the deal is, or check in with a language coach so people pick up what you're trying to put down. But if you're not going to, well, then, you bought the milk, you're going to have to drink it.

I heartily endorse the cousin for both Top DUmmie and the nadin; I see she was nominated for the Rob too, as the funniest primitive, but no, there's been other primitives funnier than her.

Her "I am God" attitude grates; I don't think even Hitler or Stalin or Mao or Barack or other megalomaniacs ever thought of themselves as Omniperfect as the cousin apparently thinks of herself.

She's forgotten that humility is the beginning of wisdom.

I saw the list of banned members over there--the "protected forums" keep such lists of primitives they don't want coming into their little worlds--as did Tucker; this was only the other day, and Skippy was on that list.

After reading what was said here, :jugs:  :yahoo: was in a position with power to unban Skippy, which is what probably happened.

They're on the ballot, although I didn't vote for any of them, the three certifiably-insane primitives, the locust primitive, Den-Den, and Amber, and they're worthy of consideration by others.

It seems the locust primitive however is the only one still hanging around Skins's island.

I dunno what's up with Amber; she pawned her lap-top, she lost her lap-top, or her lap-top was stolen, one of these three.

As for Den-Den, it is possible--maybe not probable, but possible--that he took franksolich's advice and counsel.

Remember, I'd reminded him countless times that he could either be a primitive, or be sane.  He couldn't be both; he could be only one or the other.

For a while there, it looked as if Dennis the Menace opted for being a primitive, but now he's been gone for a while; I wonder if he's seeking true professional psychiatric help, and if so, it'd be a good thing.

But he's got to keep in mind; one can either be a primitive, or be sane.  Not both; only one or the other.

I see the big guy from Bellevue's on the ballot again this year; he seems to have replaced the sparkling old dude as a perennial ballot-choice (the sparkling old dude's up for a special award this year, but not for a spot in the Top DUmmies, so his own streak is now broken).

Or like Harold Stassen, a former governor of Minnesota, who appeared on Republican presidential primary ballots every four years 1940-1992.

Given that my fellow Nebraskan's performance on Skins's island this past year was lackluster, I don't think he even deserves Top DUmmie #18, #19, or #20, the lowest rungs in Top DUmmiedom.  I wouldn't throw away a vote for him; any one of the lumpenunterprimitiven on the ballot deserves it more.

I dunno what happened to the big guy, why he faded.  It's possible that since cops now read him, and he of course works for the Omaha Police Department, having failed in his attempt to get aboard the disability gravy-train, he's not as bold in posting as he used to be.

Which is our loss--he did after all provide much comedy material for the inventory of the DUmpster--but for him, probably good.

Maybe the big guy's learned a lesson we here learned years ago, decades ago, and adapted to it--speech is free, but words do have consequences, sometimes unexpected, even unpleasant, ones.  One can't just shoot off one's mouth saying outrageous or stupid things, and not draw flak for it.

<<<shoots off mouth all the time.

<<<expects unexpected, even unpleasant, consequences because of it.

<<<draws flak.

<<<accepts, adapts, and moves on.

I don't know about that. Look at Doug Bulna, AKA Dainbramaged. He could had a heart attack and died while sitting on the commode taking a crap. The 99% on the island would go Dainbramaged who. Never heard of him.

To the best of my knowledge, no one has ever asked about his absence. Even the lurkers that have read his misadventures here at the cave. That tells you something.

You know, there's some good groups, some excellent groups, up for the group award:

the anti-gun nuts
the bullies
the cooking and baking primitives
the exiles to OldElmTree
the gay mafia
the moles
the 0bamacare lemmings
the wish-for-a-dupe beggars

The anti-gun nuts and the gay mafia are long long overdue for recognition, but one's surprised that the women's-libber Gestapo wasn't nominated too.

The bullies won a spot in in the bottom half of the Top DUmmies a couple of years ago.

The cooking and baking primitives by far have been the most colorful cast of characters, but they began fading with the introduction of DU3, and dear old sweet Lu as the hostess of that forum.  Nothing against dear old sweet Lu, who's an improvement over the vile old hate-filled hippywife Mrs. Alfred Packer, but she's no leader; she doesn't hardly post anything, and if the leader shows a lack of enthusiasm for something, so too do the followers.

One suspects that's why the sparkling old dude hangs around hardly at all any more; he and his trophy wife used to be among the most-prolific and entertainng posters in the cooking and baking forum, but slowed their pace when dear old sweet Lu took over the helm.

Their attitude was probably writ all over their faces whenever they showed up in the cooking and baking forum; "well, if dear old sweet Lu, who's the leader here, doesn't post original topics and comment, why should we?"

That's why the DUmpster here flourishes and prospers; the two leaders here, SGT Snuggle Bunny and Freeper take an avid interest in what's going on, and are always posting original topics and commenting.  And the rest of us follow them.  As long as their own enthusiasm doesn't flag, neither will ours.

It's very sad, what's happened to the cooking and baking forum.  Once the liveliest "small" forum on Skins's island, it's eroded away to about the same traffic and level of interest as the cobweb-infested deaf and hard-of-hearing forum there.

Remember the DUmp is made up of 6,000 Narcissists. The only important people in their miserable lives is themselves.

That's very true; the primitives act as if only each of themselves exists, that nobody else does.

It's shown in the monotonous repetition of campfires lit on Skins's island, where there's dozens, scores, in a few case hundreds, of campfires involving the same topic, but a primitive doesn't want to be caught dead commenting at another primitive's campfire; he wants his own, and he wants to be the one starting it.

Only my good pal Manny, the Manny Goldstein primitive, seems immune from such narcissism......and in being humble, Manny has what are some of the largest and most-active campfires blazing away.  The guy's got no ego; the message is more important than himself.  It's not about Manny; it's about whatever issue my good pal brings up.

It must be odd, being a primitive, one person among circa 5,000 others, and utterly unaware, uncaring, of the existence of all these others.  It still freaks me that more than two years after the apparently-self-inflicted death of Chief S itting Bull, the Greatest Primitive Ever, his neighbor Atman probably isn't even aware he died.
Title: Re: campaign thread for the Top DUmmies of 2013

An addition to the above: one recalls one primitive--a lumpenunterprimitiven, so his name escapes me--who whined that we "know more about" the primitives than the primitives do themselves.

"Why" is easy to understand; we pay attention to those around us, while primitives pay attention only to their own wretched miserable individual selves.

That's one of my pet peeves. I hate it where there is a big breaking story or event. Especially if it's a nonevent to decent and civilized people. It's useless to go DUmpster diving as there is page after page of campfires covering the same topic. Many with identical headlines.

Ooops, I went off on a tangent, neglecting to public-relationsize my own choice for the group award, the moles, real and imagined.

On the surface, the moles probably don't seem all that prominent, but underneath, they're probably the biggest thing affecting the conduct and behavior of the primitives.  The primitives probably notice only circa 5-10% of the manipulation that goes on, but that's enough to give decent and civlized people plenty of amusement and entertainment.

There's real moles, and there's "moles" that are figments of the primitives' paranoid imaginations; I'd say the latter sort of mole has the biggest influence on events on Skins's island.

I dunno if this is here or there, or even relevant, but anyway, Fat Che, the long-ago-mausoleumed "benburch" primitive, used to write original pieces and post them.

And then three or four months later, he'd repost the same literary creation as if it were brand-new.

And then he'd do it a third time, and a fourth time.....

Fat Che wasn't an idiot when it came to manipulation of the primitives; he knew that given their short-term memories, the primitives weren't likely to notice they'd already read the same thing before.

No way. No one knows or cares about Dennis.

If he quit coming in to work, they'd just figure he was having one of his breakdowns; they must be accustomed to that by now.

You know, this is what drives me nuts about dear old sweet Lu in the cooking and baking forum.

She doesn't post much, even though as hostess of the forum, she should, really, be the top poster there, the leader.

Her "what's for supper" campfires, for example, consist of just the title line.  She expects the drones to explain in long and explicit detail what they're doing for chow, but she won't set the example by describing what's on the supper-table in her own place.

Dear old sweet Lu is a reasonably-ancient woman who lives in the mountains and forests of western North Carolina-eastern Tennessee, with her husband, bewhiskered Bill with the face of a Pennsylvania Dutch farmer, who works at the local sawmill.  Dear old sweet Lu appears to be a pretty sociable person.  Dear old sweet Lu is "into" sorcery and witchcraft and somesuch.  Dear old sweet Lu is afflicted with a list of ailments half a mile long.

She has more going on in her life to write about, than I do.

<<<if were dear old sweet Lu, would be writing a mile a minute in the cooking and baking forum, the consequence being substantially-increased readership and participation there.

But no; she's the queen bee; work is for "other people" to do.

To me, Pam Dawson aka greenbriar/demtenjeep is by far the outstanding candidate for the Will Pitt award, the Willie.

It's the DUmp Hall of Fame, and Pam is a towering figure at the DUmp.

If you were to list up the top 50 bouncy tales in DUmp history, I'd wager to say that Pam would be responsible for 20 of them.

She is a pathological liar, a plagiarist, and the victim of a cruel genetic accident, and those are all near the top of qualfications for an outstanding DUmp democrat.

Just consider a tiny sampling of Pam's contributions to the DUmp:

* Attempted adultery on a cruise ship
* Drunk living in the basement
* Death of foul-mouthed Grandma Bonnie
* Beatings from her bullet-headed husband
* Terminal gut rot with all the symptoms
* Five-story home, sleeping fifty, although looking like a starter home on Google Earth
* Holli escaping on her eighteenth birthday
* Spooky the cat owns a Glock
* Brush with death at the laundry  mat.
* Micromanaging jerk of a principal
* Black student wants to be her slave
* Demotion to guarding an "alternative school"
* Another cruise, and photos of a knockoff Coach purse
* Stories about deadbeat sisters and brother
* Using her "stimulus check" for yet another cruise
* Holli secretly enlisting in the Army
* Hates Holli
* Loves Holli
* Describes sex on twentieth anniversary

And on and on and on. And virtually every word of her stories is untrue.

Pam's mug should be on the DUmp's Mount Trashmore.

No candidate could be more deserving. Compare Pam's bona fides with last year's winner, Grayson, who has never actually made a single DUmp post himself.

Pam Dawson/greenbriar/demtenjeep for the Willie.

Just when you think all decency is lost in this younger generation something changes your mind...see I teach 8th graders

Today we were discussing the "middle passage" and reality as a slave and we got very graphic and detailed.

Now...before we go any further...this particular class has a bunch of "personalities" and about 5 kids get really irritated.

Today one black girl raised her hand and stated the following:

Mrs. Greenbriar, I don't mean to sound ungrateful or anything but I think I would rather have lived then. I know I would have been a slave but At least people had respect and values and morals and did not act like fools or idiots...

WOW

I told her well XXX that would have put us on different sides, she said no Mrs. Greenbriar, I feel you would have been one of those slave owners that would have risked everything to teach us to read and write and better our lives

5. A fifth-grade girl  talking like that?

Choosing slavery?

A black girl, eleven or twelve years old, in America, told you that she'd prefer to have lived as a slave because today's culture is too crass for her?

Who are her parents, and what has she been taught about slavery? Does she know exactly what it was? What it entailed?

I'm sure you would have been a most benevolent slave owner, Mrs. Greenbriar, but I have trouble believing that any child with a functioning brain would make that choice.

Or even talk like that......................................

Despite the innocuous-sounding name of that forum, and its ostensible purpose, it's just as full of hate and rage and impotent sedition.....and comedy.....as any of the "political" forums on Skins's island.

I'm struggling to narrow it down to only one primitive for the Rob.  There are several good choices.

You're right; that's probably the award presenting the most blue-ribbon candidates:

the Robyn McGrath award, the “Rob,” for the primitive who, simply put, one found funny during the past year, provoking the most merriment and mirth; a primitive who wishes to be seen as authoritative and credible, but just isn’t bright enough to cut it.

Atman
BainsBane
DainBramaged
denninmi
grasswire
Lady Freedom Returns
Locut0s
nadinbrzezinski
Fat Che's Little Brother
SidDithers
stevenleser
Taverner

In my opinion, all of them with the exception of SidDithers--who was funny in other ways--meet the basic criteria.

It was an easy decision for me, because I'd already made up my mind before nominations even started, and didn't bother considering anybody else.  They're all rock-solid candidates, but I'm sticking with my twin.

My suggestion is that one vote for a primitive not likely to win any of the other special awards--which would eliminate at least walrus-face, as he's sure to win the Steve--so that the wealth of awards gets spread around.

It's like watching monkeys at the zoo, only they fling less poo than DUmmies do.

I've always been mystified as to why the primitives resent us watching them as if they're a television show.

They're aware Skins's island is a public forum, and anyone can watch.

And surely they're aware that it isn't only the DUmpster watching them.

And then there's their old hippie lack of inhibition and discretion; they want to be looked at.

I've just never gotten it; we give them what they want--an audience--and they bitch.

You know, the primitives ought to be grateful to us; at least we're paying attention to them.

No one else is, most certainly not their lords and masters, other than to laugh and sneer at them; after all, the primitives are very hard to take seriously.

I remember a post by the LynneSin primitive right after the Big Zero was re-elected.

As an aside, one wonders what ever became of the LynneSin primitive, once one of the most-prolific posters in the Lounge on Skins's island.  She evaporated shortly thereafter.  I suspect it was terminal dropsy, as she was so obviously afflicted by that, lots of weight and lots of water of course being a common side-effect of taking too many pharmaceuticals.

Anyway, shortly after the Big Zero was re-elected, she wrote something asking him to please pay attention to the feelings and concerns of the primitives.

It read as if a humble anonymous peasant praying for a slight favor from a faraway king, the peasant knowing in advance his petition wasn't going to be addressed anyway.

We're the only people in the whole world who care about the primitives.

For me, the only candidate for the Rob is poor addled grasswipe Judy Smith.

She is sooo addled, yet constantly makes learned pronouncements about any subject that strikes her fancy.

She's still hot on coach's trail as she investigates the tragic death of the round red sodomite.

She's the Jim Garrison of Dear Andy's murder.

My heart wouldn't be broken if Atman weren't selected, and she were.

In fact, grasswire would probably be my second choice for the Rob.

But surely Atman as an idiot surpasses all the other candidates but her, with the exception of walrus-face, but hey, walrus-face is going to walk away with at least two awards, so give another primitive a chance.

Just as I found the brain-damaged primitive's intolerance of other points of view the most obnoxious thing about him, I find :jugs:  :yahoo:'s presumed intellectual superiority the most obnoxious thing about her.

I really despise that; no one know what are degrees of intelligence, and it's stupid to think one does.

In the fourth grade, I scored the lowest in an IQ (intelligence quotient) test given to all ten-year-olds in town (I dunno how many of us there were; the town had circa 3,000 people, and there were three grade schools).  In that time and place, such information was made public, how each kid scored.

Ten years ago, I took a comprehensive IQ test that involved only writing, and professional analysis and evaluation of one's intelligence from that.  I "scored" in the highest 1% of that.

When it was revealed that I was deaf--and the deaf tend to be really lousy at articulation of feelings, opinions, and ideas, really retarded--the psychiatrist was floored.  "No way," he said; "it's just not possible......"

Smart or stupid, no one knows, and it's ridiculous to assume.

When I mole Skins's island, I never try to come across as intellectually-superior to the primitives, which perhaps explains my success over there.  And it's honest; I don't know for sure if I'm smarter than the primitives or not.

:jugs:  :yahoo: needs to rein in her arrogance.  It would make her a better person, being more humble.

Well, :jugs:  :yahoo: and any other primitives with delusions of intellectual superiority need to remember intelligence is not a moral value betraying virtue.  It's something one's born, or not born, with.

I suppose most here would agree that "dumb but honest" is morally-superior to "smart but dishonest," or "dumb but diligent" is morally-superior to "smart but irresponsible."

This will be what I’m sending to Mr. Wiggum (minus the commentary).

Top DUmmies
1. nadinbrzezinski - No one single DUmmie has put forth so much effort to entertain the masses as nadin. I don’t see how she can lose.
2. rsmith6621 - He has tried so hard to wrest the Bouncy crown from Bouncy Ball. Sadly, he doesn’t have her creative writing chops.
3. Taverner - He was too cuckoo for the cuckoo nest.
4. Pretzel_Warrior - He was nice enough to row over and give us curbside entertainment.
5. Link Speed - He’s been so many pretend things.

I refuse to list any more than five for Top DUmmie because, even though their stupidity has grown, they seem to be not putting forth as much of an effort to entertain.

William Rivers Pitt award
Stinky the Clown - He.doesn’t.want.to.be.an.internet.laughingstock.so.I’m.putting.him.up.for.this.very.serious.award.with. Pittian.dots.

Steven Dawes award
DainBramaged - I don’t know how it can be anyone else.

Robyn McGrath award
BainsBane - I’m voting for BainsBane for two reasons, but not those two.

Nadin Abbott award
nadinbrzezinski - How could she not win the inaugural nadin award?

Group award
the moles - I almost went with the bullies, but they really aren’t that impressive without nadin.

Willie- Redstone, posthumously.

Steven Dawes- In a slam dunk runaway...DainBramaged

Robyn McGrath- Taverner

Nadin Abbott- The crazy, bald headed dwarf.

Group- Gun Grabbers- Now accepting the award for this group is "Jugs" (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/tucker13/special/cleavage.gif)

Top DUmmies of 2013

10-SidDithers- Just because I think that he'd be fun to drink a beer with.

-4- 9- Omaha Ed Norton- He began another losing campaign without much fanfare.

8- graham4anything- If it could only exert themself, it could be a top 5 easily. The malady called laziness ruins another DUmbass with potential.

7- Manifestor_of_Light- Just a mean ol nasty bitch. With any luck (or outside influence) it will be winning an award for 2014  posthumously.

6- Skittles- Another lowdown nasty bitch. Not fit to live among decent and civilized people.

5- NYC_SKP- After some serious thought, if he can get under jugs skin (after fighting the fat orbs), he's gotta be worth more than honorable mention.

-9- 4- fizzgig- The year started out with her buying a cabin in the woods. The year ended with her husband losing his job. That in itself is worthy of a top 10.

3- Taverner- Not as smart as he thought he was. (http://www.cool-smileys.com/images/107.gif)

2- Cousin it.

1-Doug Bulna- His year was epic. His hiding the remote thread was no different than any of the other dozens of threads he started, except it had a entirely different, totally unexpected, outcome.

It's a shame that the nomination period is over. I would have proposed the cave members as an award for the group. What we did collectively to dainbramaged will live on forever.

Anyway, there you have my 2013 selections.

Moving fizgig to 4 from 9. Sorry Steve. Looks like you lost out again. You were only mentioned by your reputation anyway.

Another sad, tragic case of a primitive not taking the advice and counsel of franksolich.

Seriously.  For years I warned him, on freerepublic, at our old home, and here.

It never seems to end well, for any primitive who ignores well-meant and commonsensical advice.

For the benefit of lurking primitives, who don't know who Chief S itting Bull, the Greatest Primitive Ever, was, this was the advice and counsel constantly offered him:

Quote
Oh now, as you know, sir, I find Chief S itting Bull a rather fascinating object of study.

Perhaps you didn't know this, but the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive is dealing with an unfortunate degenerative neuro-muscular condition, which of course goes without saying that, yes, yes, yes, that's very bad, that's terrible.

But at the same time, for some reason, Chief S itting Bull thinks he can "deal with" the problem by building and solidifying his rage and anger and resentment and Hate against all that is good and decent; by hitting people and things, by reckless tearing-down and destruction.

And so franksolich remains inquisitively curious, how that's going to work out for the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive, in ameliorating his unfortunate situation.

The sequel to this was it appeared Chief S itting Bull was beaten up in a fight election night--because of his big mouth, his hate and rage--and was in the hospital for quite some time.  He had to have his jaw wired back together, among other things.

This was before we learned what happened:

Quote
I've been all over Skins's island the past four days, and haven't seen the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive at all; one wonders what's up with that, given that Redstone has an opinion about everything, and never's been afraid to say it.  And there's been plenty on Skins's island on which Chief S itting Bull could opine.

One wonders if something happened; perhaps the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive was putting gasoline into his car at the neighborhood convenience store, the self-service pumps, and because the fuel was slow in flowing, he leaned over, lighted cigarette dangling from his lips, to look inside the aperture.

Alas! poor S itting Bull! alas!

As many know, the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive, who now lives in eastern Connecticut, was born and raised in New Hampshire, coming from a long line of earnest, hardworking, modest Gaels, the salt of the earth, who spent generations working in the textile mills there.

That was too meant to be Redstone's destiny, but he arrogantly balked at the notion.  No way was he going to be a manual laborer; he was too good to get dirt and callous on his hands.  Besides, he had "talent"--in music, in song-writing, in song-singing, in the jewelry business, in the know-it-all business, in the hospitality business, in the beating-people-up business.

Chief S itting Bull wasn't going to work in an old textile mill; he was going to be a star.

Well, well.....

The bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive is now, of course 60 years old (give or take one year either way), and as it turns out, never did anything worthwhile with his life.  Sure, during the late 1960s, he teamed up with the lying tits primitive, the now-mausoleumed "TomInTib" primitive, and they hitch-hiked around the Great American Southwest (including a stayover at the Charles Manson "ranch")....but that's a scant accomplishment.

Alas! poor S itting Bull! alas!

Now, if circa 1967 or 1968 or 1969, Redstone had gone to work at the textile factory, well, here it is, a little more than forty years later--and he would be about ready to retire with a five-figure pension and a six- or seven-figure retirement account.  The Life of Riley, he could be looking forward to.

But no.....

One of the funnier episodes captured here in the DUmpster was when TomInTib, reading about how wealthy Chief S itting Bull was, decided to go east and visit him, hoping to get a loan from him.  He didn't say this explicitly, though; he gave Redstone the impression it was just a friendly social call, and so the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive was looking forward to it, as they had a lot of good times to remember.

The lyling tits primitive got there, the two of them had a few beers, strummed a few guitars, told a few "do you remember....." stories, and then TomInTib asked his old friend for some money.

Tom had to hitch-hike back to California, and they never mentioned each other again, until the lying tits primitive informed the CalPig primitive that Redstone had departed this time and place.

Deadstone's lunacy and the volume of entertainment he provided were but a fraction of Pam Dawson's.

That's why Pam won a DOTY while Deadstone never really came close.

Pam's genetically distorted mug belongs on the DUmp's Mount Trashmore.

**********ANNOUNCEMENT**********

This being Wednesday morning, there's only three and a half more days to cast ballots.

If one hasn't done so, please do it soon, rather than waiting until the last minute; after all, something might happen in real life, and as one's put it off, the last minute will have come and gone, and one hadn't voted.

Remember, as the rules state, one can change one's votes up until polls close anyway.

Also, a personal plea--please vote for ten top DUmmies, not just five or six or seven.

Surely it's any easy matter to think of ten primitives.

The reason for this is that the more votes that are cast, the less likely ties are to occur, and ties are a pain, as was demonstrated last year.  So please vote for ten, no less.  Thank you!

Well now, nobody's going to disagree that Pamela's an excellent choice for the Willie.

I plan to vote for her.....sometime.

My problem is, because the Willie never got started until some years into the Top DUmmies, there occurred a backlog of most-memorable primitives, and only one's selected each year.

I've got Redstone in line for this year, poor stupid Beth next year, Pamela the year after, the sparkling old dude the year after, and so on.

We'll see how it goes, but that's the problem--too many primitives, but only one spot.

5- NYC_SKP- After some serious thought, if he can get under jugs skin (after fighting the fat orbs), he's gotta be worth more than honorable mention.

I saw something rather discombobulating, last Saturday or Sunday, while reading Skippy on Skins's island.

It was ghastly; I spotted it, and in a half-second, had already turned the pages.  There are some things one doesn't want to see, and I'd like to retain at least a minimal respect for Skippy who after all isn't all bad, only circa 90-95% bad.

I flitted by too quickly--fortunately--to catch all the details, but it appeared to be a self-posted photograph of Skippy holding a dog on his lap.....and Skippy attired in a pink bathrobe with a fur collar and fur at the ends of the sleeves.  I'm sure that's what it was, and thought, horrified, "no.....not Skippy."

It's true that some men get off on supersized jugs--I'm sure the university puts them to good use, in fund-raising, as there's probably a lot of rich guys, alum of the institution, who do get off on them--but not all men do.

<<<more likely to get a hard-on seeing a dead fish, than :jugs:  :yahoo:'s jugs.

Well, I have to admit that of my two reasons for voting for BB for the Robyn one is rational and the other is very naive.

The rational reason is that, other than nadin, no other nominee better fits the qualifications for the award.

The naive reason is one with which many here will probably disagree. I’ve only seen one photo of BB. In the photo, IF her attitude is completely disregarded and forgotten about, she is not, at least in my opinion, too bad of a looking woman. It’s only after her attitude is added to the equation that the “ugg” factor come into play.

I think that winning this award offers a chance for a turning point for her. She could see that she’s been prone to being hateful and egotistical with a false sense of superiority, turn from those attributes, and become a lovely woman. Or she can double-down on those attributes and become a mass of ugly that challenges for top DUmmie next year.

That, sir, is what uglifies primitive women.

On the surface, some of them look okay, perfectly fine, even enticing--I give you the example of poor stupid Beth, circa 15-20 years ago--but when one gets to know of their hate, their anger, their silliness, in front of one's own eyes they metamorposize into ugly old hags.

Just looking at her, the seabeyond primitive doesn't look unaesthetic--but then as one gets to know her, she's suddenly as ugly as Medusa.

He's one of the more-obscure candidates for the Top DUmmies, but I'd appreciate it if voters gave some attention to Wills, the William769 primitive.

When one hangs around Skins's island, Wills probably doesn't appeal because he's a one-issue primitive, always and unrelentingly dwelling upon gayiety to the exclusion of everything else.  Yawn.

The world's a very big place, and there's more issues, more concerns, than just gayiety.

It's as if franksolich were to post about deafness, and nothing else.  Just deafness.

<<<would be even more boring than is at present.

One has mixed feelings about Wills; on one hand, he has that afliction frequently gotten by gays, and is suffering much because of it.  It was his self-indulgent, self-gratifying conduct, not his "feelings," that got him into this mess, and perhaps now he understands.  One can't control one's feelings, but one can control one's conduct.

If I for example, were more concerned about my feelings than my behavior, I'd be hopping around in the sack with every femme coming my way.  But because I restrain myself, I enjoy not only the reputation of a gentleman, but also avoid emotional discombobulations and diseases that come with certain women; and those sorts of things can wreck one's life.

Maybe Wills understands that now; self-discipline is a good thing.

But then on the other hand, sympathy turns to utter disgust when, for example, one sees a photograph of Wills kissing a fish.

That's the difference.

Whenever one sees Wills' name as the lighter of a campfire, one knows without even reading the title, "oh, it's another one of those stupid gay issues....."

I have to plug Atman again for the Rob.

He didn't do much on Skins's island this year, and so no nomination or vote for my twin as one of the Top DUmmies, but damn, every time I see him on Skins's island, I have to stop, look, and laugh.

Atman's a child of privilege, having been born and raised in one of the Levittowns down in Florida; his mother has scads of money, and his late father made good money.  He's always been vague about his family--which is okay, and good sense, as they aren't primitives and need left alone--but apparently he has an older brother and two older sisters.

Being the youngest, his mother spoiled him.  She struck him as the "sensitive" one, the one too fragile and too refined to survive in the rough-and-tumble world, and overly protected him.  And somewhere along the line, Atman picked up this odd notion that "sensitives," "aesthetes," are supposed to be angry, pissed-off people, even though they themselves haven't suffered.

Atman's wife--but no primitive, remember--is apparently a medical health professional, a registered nurse or physical therapist or something like that.  He's spoken of two adult sons, and is a grandfather.  One gets the impression they all have to cater to the old man's whims, who acts like a temper-tantrumming little girl in pigtails when he doesn't get his way.

Atman lives in eastern Connecticut, where he's an "artist," usually of caricatures.  I know his work's been panned here, but in my own opinion, he's actually pretty good.  He lives in an exclusive neighborhood, near a lake.  He has a rather high opinion of himself, and has Perierre water piped into the plumbing, because ordinary water isn't good enough for what he drops into the commode.

Despite that he constantly whines about "the rich" as if he's not one of them, he is.

Why he's even on Skins's island mystifies me; it's like someone in the country club set hanging around with the trailer court trash (no negative commentary on people who live in trailers--no way).

I can understand the poetic justice in seeing Atman win his namesake award, the "Robyn McGrath Award".

But when I read the official qualifications for consideration:

Quote
the primitive who, simply put, one found funny during the past year, provoking the most merriment and mirth; a primitive who wishes to be seen as authoritative and credible, but just isn’t bright enough to cut it.

I can see no DUmmy, even McGrath himself, who surpasses the addled, mumbling, great-great-great-great-grandmother from suburban Portland, grasswipe Judy Smith.

Atman is as stupid as grasswipe; I see it as a tie on that point. But Atman tends to be a gray, stalinist, grim kind of stupid, while Judy's mental impairment makes her a little more comically stupid. For example, can you imagine McGrath wearing three overcoats while pulling a little red wagon heaped with junk? Or pledging free pie to schoolteachers?

It is a close, close race, but I have to give it to grasswipe at the wire by a pie crust.

Frank, everyone knows you are the Nadin.

All you have to do is admit it and you've made the first step towards recovery.

Well, while the brain-damaged primitive, walrus-face, made a good run for Top DUmmie, I'm still sticking with cousin nadin as my first choice.

If walrus-face had heeded my advice and counsel, even GOBUCKS would judge him worthy of Top DUmmiedom.

But he didn't; walrus-face thinks that franksolich doesn't know anything, that franksolich doesn't have his best interests at heart.

The brain-damaged primitive is a solid second choice, but cousin nadin beats him out solely on her plodding tenacity all year long.  Seriously, I don't know how she does it, stubbornly clinging to her "I-am-God-don't-question-me" attitude in face of all that's been flung to her.

She'll break sooner or later, coming to admit to herself that she's full of shit, but when?

2022?  2036?  2047?  2061?

From what I've noticed of her, it's always a rather naff comment about kicking people's arses...it's gone beyond a meme to become a rather sad, unfunny bit of dribble coming out of the corner of an invalid's mouth.

If Doug had taken franksolich's advice I doubt he'd be under consideration for Top DUmmy.

Had he made a clean breast of things, admitted his mistake publicly, asked his employer for forgiveness, and made an honest effort to redeem himself, just think what a difference that would have made.

By now, four months later, Doug would be happy, smiling, and prosperous.

He'd be clean shaven, with a respectable businessman's haircut.

He'd have lost seventy or eighty pounds and begun dressing spiffily, in a nice wool blend sport jacket, button-down Arrow shirt, sharply creased trousers and brilliantly polished Florsheim Imperials.

He'd be rolling in the hay with attractive middle-aged divorcees and widows every night of the week.

He may even have regained vision in his fogged-out eyeball.

He would laugh and flash an engaging, winning smile at the mention of the DUmp, a place he no longer visits.

He would be donating money to his local Republican party, and would be a member of the National Rifle Association.

Had Doug taken franksolich's advice he wouldn't be a Top DUmmy - he wouldn't be a DUmmy at all.

I like the way nutcase nadin has completely shut it down.

She's trying to give other DUmpmonkeys a chance for some votes.

She got back from the shithole south of Texas, posted for a few days to let us know she was back, then shut it down.

Never fear, she'll be back with a vengeance on the day after voting concludes.

nadin is all about humility.

As she said, "My middle name is hulimtily."

I guess they're ashamed of giving the 2012 win to Skippy.

This year should be nadin's third consecutive triumph.

I dunno.  There was only one vote separating the two primitives who came in second, with the winner.

One single vote would've made a difference; it could've made any of the top three Top DUmmie.

This is why it's so important to vote, and to vote for ten primitives, not less than ten.

For the group award, the specific, official qualifications were not spelled out.

For me, the only reason for a DUmmy to exist, the only way to justify his consumption of oxygen, is to provide entertainment to normal people.

With that as the only criterion, my vote goes to The Bullies for the group award.

The crazy bald dwarf is a force of nature, a nut whose craziness would exist in a vacuum.

But when her nuttiness meets the catalyst provided by The Bullies the fireworks begin.

Comments from The Bullies are hilarious in their own right, but they also serve a higher purpose.

The potshots taken by The Bullies in every substantial nadin thread goad her into ever more spectacular performances.

Without The Bullies, nadin would still be hilarious but with The Bullies she's incredible.

The Bullies for the group award.

Omaha Steve does not have nearly the presence he once had here, and Amber is fading down the stretch.

I think Steve has been a major disappointment this year.  There was a spark of the 2012 Steve this year, back when he announced his candidacy for city council during the special election.  He sort of faded away again after that.  I have to wonder if his lack of posting isn't partially due to frank's suggestion that he's reigned it in to avoid making waves at the police precinct he is employed at.

We had a nice bench of primitives to choose from this year for DOTY, and I found choosing the top slot to be difficult.  In the end, I voted Amber for the top spot.  I did it, because it takes a special kind of stupid to do what she did in leaving her a home and a job she had here, to be homeless over 1,000 miles away in a strange town, away from any family.  As a very practical person, it's simply inconceivable for me to think someone could do something like that out of their own free will.

My only concern was that she might be a mole.  The only evidence I could verify was to go back over her posts from when she was in my town staying at the homeless shelter, scanning for anything where I could trip up her storyline.  If "she" is a mole living elsewhere, s/h/it did a damn good job of describing/knowing things that one would really need to visit my locale to know.

Redstone--too close to call, as a good case was made for Pamela too

the Steve
DainBramaged--runaway

the Rob
Atman--probably won't make it.....again

the Nadin
nadinbrzezinski--runaway

group
the moles, real and imagined--too many top-notch candidates to split the vote; probably won't make it

Top DUmmies:

2 - WilliamPitt
3 - nadinbrzezinski
4 - Loc0nuts
5 - Pretzel_Warrior
Fire Walk With Me
cali
kentuck
TheMastersNemesis
Scuba

The Willie:
This is my hardest choice. I think there are four nominees worthy of enshrinement int he DUmmie Hall of Fame:  Andy Stephenson; sfexpat2000/EFerrari; bobbolink; and benburch. Since 2014 and 2015 will mark the tenth anniversary of the scandal that made Beth and Andy famous, I think I will save my votes for those two for the next two years. That narrows it down to Bobo and ben. Tough call. That means the other one I will have to save till 2016. It's almost a coin flip, but I think this year I'll go with . . .
benburch

The Steve:
DainBramaged

The Rob:
SidDithers

The Nadin:
nadinbrzezinski

The Group:
The anti-gun nuts

Initially a skeptic, I came to like the idea of weighted votes.....but only for the top half of the top ten.

Really, by the time one has to pick a sixth or seventh top DUmmie, it gets hard.

I suggest this voting format be used in the future; weighted votes for one's top five, and then just five more primitives each given equal votes (in this case, half a vote each, because the fifth primitive gets only one vote).

I of course have no idea how the voting's going, but I suspect those half-votes are going to make a difference in some of the spots.....which is why I urge others to vote for ten, not less than ten.

If one's voted for less than ten, one still has until suppertime tomorrow (Saturday) to send an amended ballot to Mr. Wiggum.

My votes for DOTY top 10/20 and the "specials"

Top DUmmies:
1 - Dainbramaged. His was a magnificent run. Quite possibly the very best, most egarious, self inflicted wallduding in Dummy history. That it all happened over the Labor Day weekend made that holiday one to remember.

2 - Lady Freedom Returns. She and Dave should have stayed on the road with their hike to Washington. Even better for her would have been to stay with her family, who could be looking out for her well-being and supporting her psyche after the CHAD induced breakup with Dave. Death by wolf would have been much swifter than the death from a thousand cuts she is suffers now.

3 - Bainsbane. Can't we get two votes?

4 - LocutOs. Loser, but a winner in the DOTY competition.

5 - Pretzel_Warrior. A valiant effort in the end.

And the "not the pick of the litters"

Cali
cbayer
crazy Dennis
Nadinbrzezinski
NYC_SKP

The Willie:

The Steve:

The Rob:
Lady Freedom Returns

As you know, the awards will be given out beginning the afternoon of Christmas Eve, all the way through to early afternoon of New Year's Eve.  There'll be a minimum of fifteen awards over seven days, but there might be more if there's ties (which I hope there aren't, but it happens, and I can live with it).

The schedule is generally: the bottom half of the top twenty DUmmies, and then in ascending order each of the top ten DUmmies.  The special awards are interspersed between all that.

This year, I might open up with the Steve.  I dunno.  It's already a foregone conclusion, pretty much, and best to get the non-suspense-filled awards out of the way first.

By the way, thank you for that vote for Skippy; I want so badly to have to write an award for him, meaning he has to finish in the top ten.  I don't care where, but somewhere in the top ten, even tenth.

I saw another self-posted photograph of Skippy the other day; he was wearing a shirt outside his pants, and since the shirt was cut straight all around (i.e., no shirt-tail, front or back), it reminded me very much of late 1970s polyester, the leisure-suit, 8-track tapes, Tony Orlando & Dawn, spiffy, those sorts of things.

A shirt is normally meant to be tucked inside the pants, but sometimes one likes to be casual, sloppy, careless, and so it's okay to occasionally wear the shirt outside the pants.....provided the shirt has tails on it, front and back.

Shirts with a straight hem all the way around.....no way.  Best to tuck that thing in.

I'm no sartorial aesthete, but it freaks me that a middle-aged man would dress that way.  One almost expected to find a lei around his neck.

In the summer I do wear a shirt with a scalloped hem, unbuttoned over a T-shirt. It's usually a cover garment, hiding the firearm I have on my right hip.

Don't want to scare the kiddies and moonbats. <--------------Some may debate that they're the same thing.

Well, that's acceptable, because it's unbuttoned, and your masculine t-shirt is showing.

It's definitely no late-1970s Carter-era Hawaiian look.

It was not a problem, coach. I originally didn't have the Skip-meister punched in at all. Then I read your post about wanting to write an award for the idiot. That put him in, but alas, some other deserving DUochebag, I don't remember which (or what), So I can hopefully read such an award.

I seen what you did with the SPIFFY thing, there.

I put in a vote for Skippy, too.  I didn't understand what frank found so interesting about him, until I started reading his posts through the same lense I read the Calpig's posts through.  Condescending, shallow, uppity, and in reality no help at all for the afflicted primitive he is consoling.

In a nutshell, you said it much better than I could articulate.

But there's a second, more personal, reason, too.

<<<wants Skippy to learn how to win friends and influence people, which he certainly didn't when he found a minor inconsequential insignificant trivial outdated mistake I made, and gloated about it.

If he'd reacted the same way my good pal Manny, the Manny Goldstein primitive, who knows how to win friends and influence people, would've reacted had he found the error instead, Skippy would've never showed up on the radar for Top DUmmies.

Every time I see that picture of her holding that pie, it cracks me up! I've never been into a bakery, or even Shari's or Denny's, where the top looks like someone's 5 year old helped decorate it. And she looks proud of herself!

You know, I'm obviously a minority here, but that pie, to me, didn't look too bad.  I would've eaten it up in a hurry.

Despite her ever-increasing senescence, I think the pie-and-jam primitive is probably, in real life, a better-than-average cook.  Not as good as the sparkling old dude or our mothers, but probably she's pretty good.

It's just all these other things about her that grate on one's nerves.....

I think it was suggested earlier that addled Judy's famous strawberry pie was decorated by one of her great-great-great-granddaughters, who was learning Judy's tricks to pass on to her own young daughter.

Regardless its origin, it's an awful-looking pie. Why arrange strawberries to look like a chicken's head?

Not that it wouldn't taste good, but that's a long shot, since poor addled Judy is always talking about gluten-free, sugar-free, GMO-flour-free, pesticide-free, dairy-free, salt-free, shortening-free, HFCS-free baking.

And another thing: where is the rest of the crust?

I'd pose as one of the rich, and get it for free.

Remember the grasswire primitive's chant, "Free pie for the rich, the poor gotta pay.....free pie for the rich, the poor gotta pay.....free pie for the rich, the poor gotta pay....."

Remember, she was going to give free pie to overpaid governmental bureaucrats and teachers, and charge the poor.

The crust of that pie is waaaay up over the left side of the dish. Can't even be seen on the right side.
That right there is a sign, with bright red neon arrows pointing at it, that poor old addled Judy is not particularly caring in her presentation style.

Pie shop my arse. Even government workers, much less the paying poor and private sector working stiffs will pass that pie for rhubarb and custard pie with a straight crust.

As a fictional spirit-guide I refrain from voting; however, I feel that I can campaign.

Imagine the lone good player, probably a 4’ wide defensive lineman with a low center of gravity, on an otherwise dismal football team. Although the other players may sometimes not always put their hearts into the game, the 4’ wide defensive lineman is constantly waddling around the field doing his job. He tries to help his dismal team by telling his teammates all of their faults so they might improve. They may not want to hear it, but he doesn’t let their lack of interest deter him.  He struggles to carry his dismal team. He struggles to make his dismal team better. The team’s failure never stops him. He is dedicate to his job.

Ladies and gentlemen of Conservative Cave, nadin is that lone good player on Team DU, and I urge you to cast the one vote that should be perfectly clear: nadin for the top spot in this year’s DOTY.

OK, here are my votes. I know its a secret ballot, but Jimmie crack corn and...

1) DainBramaged: Hands down he is number one this year. And he did it all to himself. The sheer arrogance required to brag about your misdeeds on an open forum...That is simply insane. and this was the year of the insane DUmmie.

2) Cali...hers was the first post after DainBramaged waldude OP. and she supported him all the way! That alone got her the number two slot. I really have to question the sanity of anyone who has no problem with such behavior.

3) Lady Freedom Returns The year of the insane DUmmie continues. Her saga and imaginary indian lover, solidified her spot.

4) Nadinbrzezinski Our favorite narcissist, blind to her own shortcomings, was eclipsed this year. Hard to believe she could be be pushed to #4, but the level of insanity was dramatic this year.

5) Taverner So insane that he got himself kicked off the asylum. That is pretty bad.

TheMastersNemesis...honorable mention for continuous epic rants.
Zappaman...Honorable mention for a sense of humor and sticking it to nadin.
Locut0s...Honorable mention for being a *****.
Skinner...Honorable mention for telling nadin that SHE was the problem, not the "bullies."
WilliamPitt...Honorable mention for being forced to leave Boston and moving back in Mom's basement. Too bad he has to drag his ugly bride and offspring with him.

the William Rivers Pitt award: Andy Stephenson...Still dead, but worthy of the award.
the Steven Dawes award: DainBramaged Doug, your name was written all over this.
the Robyn McGrath award: Lady Freedom Returns. Normally I like to laugh with people, but in ypour case, I'll laugh AT you.
the Nadin Abbott award: nadinbrzezinski...Skinner told her the truth and she is too blind to see it.
the group award:  the moles. Because we are better than you DUmmies.

Nope. Don't agree.

Yeah, sure. Your cousin has the weight to be Top Ten material year after year, I just can't muster the wherewithal to tap her as THE Top DUmmie. OP after OP, it's just the same ol' same ol'. I forgot to add why Skippy winning an award is important, at least to me, other than for the reasons given in comments scattered throughout this thread.

Skippy came from a dirt-poor, hard-scrabble background--his tale rings eminently credible and honest, although I don't buy this thing about being "poor" because one had a black-and-white television; back in that era, although color television was available, most American homes still had black-and-white television.

But all else rings true; his description of watching his grandmother wringing necks of chickens and unfeathering them is a classic.

However, despite the economic status of his family, it appears that his grandfather, his grandmother, his mother, and his sister were what my parents always called "people of quality."  Poor, but honest, hardworking, and compassionate.  Despite their circumstances, these were people of good breeding.

Skippy himself, despite all these advantages, ended up a primitive.

I'd like to write about where Skippy went wrong.

Oh yeah.

All that self-righteous high-falutin' talk about how she and her eccentric English husband are being gentle on Mother Gaia, living on a tiny little boat where they, obviously, can't press down a very big carbon footprint.

Unfortunately, they live the minimalist lifestyle on the boat only about a quarter or a third of a year; all the rest of the year, they're stamping out enormous carbon footprints staying on land in luxury suites in five-star hotels, dining in fine restaurants, renting low-gas-mileage luxury cars to drive around the country, and jet-setting to Europe and Africa.....which of course cancels out all "savings" from living on the boat.

Well, I of course don't know any more about how voting went than anybody else does, other than the guy who's counting them, but I'm suspecting that with the Top DUmmies of 2013, the torch has been passed onto a new generation of primitives.

When one looks at the ballot, there were, really, very few candidates from the ancien regime--the Bostonian Drunkard, the CalPig primitive, the Taverner primitive, the mike_c primitive, the sparkling old dude, and a very few others--who were among the first generation of Top DUmmies.

And probably none of these old fogies are going to get elected to anything.

This is apparently the year that marks out with the old, in with the new.

To me he is the epic DUmbass...immature,ignorant,and like an infant always lashing out in rage at things he does not like.

I get what you are saying but that one post climaxed many many years of DUmp idiocy.
To me he is the epic DUmbass...immature,ignorant,and like an infant always lashing out in rage at things he does not like.
For the year 2013 he epitomized what a DUmbass is.

This is for the DUmmy of the year. I'm only voting on what went down in 2013.

It might be worth exploring a DUmmy of the decade (DOTD), covering 2003 to 2013.

Here we got the old contradiction--should a primitive be named DUmmie of the year for his steady consistent unexhaustible output of amusement and entertainment over the whole year (or much of it).....or should a primitive be named DUmmie of the year because he did something, even if only one single thing, that was so stupid it blew the mind away?

Obviously, I'm going with the former this year, although in past years sometimes I went for the latter.

I went with the cousin as the Top DUmmie this year because the brain-damaged primitive's a shoo-in for the Steven Dawes award anyway, in addition to surely what will be #02 Top DUmmie of 2013, so he's not carrying away peanuts for awards.

I just submitted my final tally and it does, indeed, reflect what you are speaking to.

The old pros from dover are falling by the wayside at an alarming rate but I have confidence that the new guard will be able to take up the slack.

I think it should be the last award handed out so that you have plenty of time to make it sweet.

As you know, the awards are handed out between the afternoon of Christmas Eve and the early afternoon of New Year's Eve.  The top DUmmies are awarded in ascending order, from the bottom half of the top twenty up to Top DUmmie of the year.  The special awards are interspersed, depending upon which primitive won.

The franksolich award will go to a primitive who didn't win anything.

When I know the results of the voting from Mr. Wiggum (I gave him until Saturday, December 21, to get them to me), then I'll know where on the schedule to place the special awards, and that schedule will be posted.  It's the Christmas season, and many don't hang around here--this way, interested parties'll know when they should come and check it out, so they don't have to sit around twiddling their thumbs waiting and wondering.

Frank puts so much hard work into writing up awards for everybody we pick, whether they are his choice or not.  He wouldn't even have to write it up every year, just only when the mood strikes him.

Just submitted my votes.  I didn't nominate gNads for anything.  Reason?  The thought of her gives me a migraine AND I thinks she's DUmmy enough to take the awards as a compliment.  It won't happen, but I'd like to see her completely iggied this year.  Unlike most Dummies, I don't find her funny, but purely annoying; thus no vote from me for anything.

Since I had a gaping hole where gNads belonged in DOTY, I threw the coach a bone and stuck Skippy in there.

There was also another gaping hole in the DOTY candidates.  I made a Grand Prize Winner slot at the top and put Vesta111 in it.  She would have been in my top spot if she had been allowed.

The others were all the usual clowns.

DainBramaged as Top DUmmy.  After all, he is who brought me here.
Amber at number 2 as she also provided great entertainment to me this year.
cali at number three.  Great balls of fire, that S/H/it has been prolific stupid.
Loconuts for obvious reasons came in fourth.
gopiscrap came in fifth.  I've often thought he might be a mole, but I still voted for him.  If you're here, my hat is off to you.

The other five in no particular order were CaliforniaPeggy, Laelth, cbayer, Pretzel_Warrior, and the Skippy.

The Willie:  cali

The Steve:  DainBramaged aka Doug Bulna, Douglas Bulna, Douglas C. Bulna of Gearhard Chevrolet fame.  (Can I post the jizz pic please?)

The Rob:  Fat Che's Little Brother (I struggled with this one and read back over past posts.  This guy is Funnie.

The Nadin:  BainsBane  (Since I refused to vote for gNads for anything.  She comes closest.)

The Group:  the 0bamacare lemmings  (Hard decision here.  I couldn't decide between them and the gun nuts.  They are equally vile.  I finally used the clock method and the Ocares won.)

Yes, I appreciate very much what both of you do to put together these awards together each year.  I'm sure I'm not the only one.  Neither of you get paid anything to do this each year, and it takes time out of both of your lives.

By the way, I had to think, because Carl threw such a novel, unexpected idea in here.

When I say "the franksolich award will go to a primitive who didn't win anything," remember, a primitive who places in the bottom half of the top twenty, Top DUmmies #11-20, isn't really considered as having won anything, because those ten primitives have to share one award.

In other words, the franksolich award (not its final name, by the way) will go to a primitive who (a) wasn't selected a Top Ten DUmmie or (b) didn't win any of the special awards.

The polls are now closed, but I decided against locking this thread for further replies; I'll keep it open.

This thread, and the accompanying nominations thread, will stay "stickied" to the top of the DUmpster until Mr. Wiggum gives me the list of winners, after which both threads will be stashed up in the DUmping Ground forum.

After Mr. Wiggum gives me the list of winners--he has until Saturday, December 21, to do so--I'll then "sticky" the schedule of releases here.  It's after all near Christmas, and people are busy in real life; this way, they won't have to hang around waiting, already knowing in advance when an award's coming out.

Until I know the winners, the only schedule I can give at the moment is that the bottom half (one single award) of the top twenty DUmmies will come out early afternoon Christmas Eve, and the awards will end with the Top DUmmie of 2013 in early afternoon New Year's Eve.

I will be so happy when this election is over.

Great DUmpmonkeys, like nadin and rsmithnumbers, are embarrassed by their high standing in the competition and have been in semi-hiding, hoping to reduce their vote totals.

As soon as voting closes, they'll be back with a vengeance and the DUmp will be so much better for it.

Also, the flash-in-the-pan posers and trolls, like that Pretzel guy, will disappear.

What a great reminder of the days when coach was on the round red sodomite's trail, finally tracking him down and knocking him off.

Your post put me to thinking. It seems that almost every year there is one "big" even that outshines all other DUmp endeavors. I wonder if it is planned on their part OR do our moles over there formulate the plan than lure the actual DUmmie into the 'big' event?

I don't believe that Doug Bulna thought what he did was out of the ordinary, as far as DUmmies go. They do this kinda shit all of the time. Hiding books in a bookstore is probably their most advertised antic.

Your post put me to thinking. It seems that almost every year there is one "big" even that outshines all other DUmp endeavors. I wonder if it is planned on their part OR do our moles over there formulate the plan than lure the actual DUmmie into the 'big' event?

It's an incomplete list, but you've got the Scamdal in 2005, Fitzmas in 2006, Pamela's meltdown in 2009, the big guy's campaign in 2012, and the brain-damaged primitive's stupid stunt in 2013, that have to rate as the "big" discombobulation on Skins's island those years.

I'm sure there's been others, but when one's head is so jampacked full of primitivia lore and legend, it's hard to remember them all.

Oh my yes.

The stars and planets aligned up exactly right for this one.

Just out of curiosity, has grasswipe ever updated us on how her investigation is going?

And didn't Brickboy, aka Pittstain, say he wouldn't rest until the people responsible were brought to justice?  He's actively pursuing this kindo f like OJ is.

2011 was a banner year.

In the spring we had nadin guiding the DUmmies through the Japanese earthquake and nuclear plant crisis as waves of lethal radiation struck San Diego, and then the nutcase's own subsequent meltdown and one-week self exile.

The spring of 2011 also saw the announcement of grasswipe's new pie shoppe in suburban Portland, in a trashy, abandoned old bodega that later became her new home.

In the summer of 2011 we had DUmmy cali's spectacular wallduding up there at the Perennial Pleasures earwig emporium.

Ah.  Thank you! for reminding me.

How did grasswipe's pie shoppe for the rich ever meet its fate, anyways?  Did she get evicted for squatting, or what?

It didn't have a fate.

It never existed.

Poor, addled grasswipe has fantasies.

When she found she could sneak into that old abandoned storefront, she imagined it becoming her pie shoppe for the rich.

Her out-go exceeded her in-come because she gave away free pie to teachers and such.
Working people had to pay, and they were too smart to do that.
The out-go did decrease however. Even the teachers didn't want to eat it.
