ST. LOUIS • A 17-year-old St. Louis man has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the bludgeoning death of a Bosnian immigrant.

Police say Robert Mitchell along with two other teens, both juveniles, attacked the 32-year-old man with hammers early Sunday. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. Mitchell and one of the juveniles are black and the other teen is Hispanic, according to police.

A police spokeswoman said investigators do not believe race played a role in the bludgeoning death of a Bosnian immigrant early Sunday, but declined to say what authorities believe is the motive in the killing.

The victim, Zemir Begic, is a Bosnian immigrant and possibly a Muslim.

A more modern day Reginald Denny. If a black attempts murder of a white in "protest" every effort is made to justify it, minimize or excuse it.

But let a White CCW/CHL/CWP holder be attacked by a Mob (Of Dazzling Urbanite Gangster Brats) and he shoots his way out of certain death ( Killing 3 and wounding 7 ) There would be a Nationwide push (Including the Feds) to suspend all CCW/CHL/CWP in America .

This sounds like a hate crime and no I am no fan of hate crime laws.

The biggest problem with hate crime laws is that they are aimed at protecting certain groups, and are not applied where hate really exists.

My problem with hate crimes is that it criminalizes thought, not action. How can you prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, what someone was thinking? Just like OZ said, most crimes, and especially violent crimes, are hateful. You engage in them based upon your hate, whether it is hate of society, hate of financial situation, etc.

I agree with that, but it seems the burden o proof for hate crimes is much lower when a minority is the victims, than when a white person is the victim. 

I don't think I heard about any of the Knock Out game perps being charged with a hate crime.
