DU still fantasizing about shooting abortion protestors

DUmmies aren't anti-gun at all. It just depends on who's on the receiving end.

If a woman felt threatened due to protesting outside of a family planning clinic...
..could she pepper-spray them? Could her escort (s)? Is that legal?

I think it was a bad move to remove the buffer zones around family planning clinics.

I also can't believe that people waste their time by harassing women like that. Lame.

1. and what happens now in "stand your ground" states?

allegedly, if you feel threatened in Florida, you can do a lot more than pepper spray someone.

10. It's more likely that the protestors would shoot the women visiting the clinics

and then claim they "felt threatened" by them.

Horseshit.

20. You cannot shoot someone for verbal harassment

There have to be specific threats of bodily harm.

26. There were, hence the law. It wasn't just verbal.

27. I doubt abortion protesters are verbally threatening to hurt people to their faces

So I don't think it will be an issue in SYG states. It is not like SYG is anything new - we have decades of experience with it. We have centuries of case law on self defense and rational fear.

Uh oh. Now you're going to be accused of "defending the protestors".

police were called. Is MA even a SYG state?

8. I think that it would be one situation that I would

have no problem with Stand Your Ground for the woman and her escort. Let the 2nd Amendment serve a true purpose for once.

9. Well, the anti-abortion movement is a known domestic terror organization...

Maybe the Global War on Terrorism needs to come home.

12. If she did that, she would very likely be shot. There is a substrate of real violence among them

When shaming and screaming don't work, they kill people.

You're a lying ****.

Forty years since Roe v. Wade. Fifty-five million abortions. Tens, if not hundreds of millions of people believing abortion is murder. Yet in all that time a grand total of five pro-abortionists have been killed. That comes out to average what, one person every eight years? Meanwhile you animals are snuffing out life like handing out candy at Halloween. More people die by being struck by lightning every year in my state than the total of abortionists killed in four decades in this country by people with this "substrate of real violence".

You nihilistic ****s are the ones who are in love with death, not us.

15. Interesting question. I wonder- in a stand your ground state,

if she could just pull her gun and shoot them?

Quote
notadmblnd (18,271 posts)
49. No, I don't think there needs to be any threats

Remember, these are people who have killed Dr.s and blown up clinics or support those who do or have. I would think if a woman encountered these anti choice people and they were blocking her attempts to enter the clinic. Her fear of death or great bodily harm could justify her standing her ground.

I think so...I mean I would feel threatened by them....Schadenfreude?

They fabricated all this bullshit to scare everybody during the Zimmerman trial. "ZOMG! Stand your ground let's you murder people!"

Not that Zimmerman ever employed SYG as a defense. He claimed a straight-up self-defense.

Now they believe their own propaganda, created by idiots to be believed by idiots, and they think they can make some baseless claim of feeling threatened in order to murder people who refuse to be as corrupted as they are.

Mere political opposition becomes a threat to DUmmies...enough to justify violence?
Yes. Every socialist country resorts to violence to stay in power.

Wallow for a bit on DU. You can feel it. They want to kill.

Before this 35-foot buffer zone, MA had a much less restrictive floating bubble buffer, which SCOTUS had ruled constitutional for another state. But the State of MA was not satisfied, and concocted this law that all 9 Justices recognized at grossly unconstitutional. Hatred and overreach got smacked down.

I haven't looked around to see where this leaves MA. If MA legislators were careful and smart in coding thislaw, they would have included a clause to reactivate the old law if this new one were struck down.

Didn't find any info on the state of MA's law, but learned this on LifeSiteNews:

Quote
Others said the ruling should be applied to strike down existing anti-speech laws. Three states and numerous cities have similar “buffer zones” around abortion facilities. Portland, Maine, requires a 39-foot zone; Burlington, Vermont, has a 35-foot zone; and San Francisco requires pro-life supporters to stand 25 feet away from abortion office entrances.

So this decision will have effects in places besides MA.

They used similar tactics in the Duke rape case.
