paging Mr Mannn, Mr. Wiggum
« on: June 14, 2014, 10:57:48 AM »
Are you guy east of here supposed to get any of this?

The above's what it should be like circa 4:00 p.m. central time; I'm located in that black mark on the map.

It's supposed to dwarf the monster storm of two weeks ago.

I expect to lose my internet, so don't be disheartened if I'm not here.

That is, if one would be disheartened in the first place.

According to the hourly forecast, heavy ruinous rain here in this specific tiny little area about 3:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m., midnight, 3:00 a.m. (central time), with a whole lot else going on inbetweentimes.

<<<pretty much prepared, though.

The weather came on and said not to worry. The brunt of the storm is supposed to dump on some isolated spot in Nebraska...nothing much there, just a single house. After that lone house gets washed away, the storm will be spent.

So, I'm not worried. Just a few scattered unicorns pooping Skittles.

That looks like the graphic for a 70% chance of vampire attacks.

There were no tornado sirens in my old neighborhood.  When I moved the other year and heard them go off, I thought some neighborhood kids had gotten a hand-cranked siren and were messing with it behind their house where I couldn't see.

Can you see any of your neighbors' property?  Are there any visual warning devices like a search light, for when a tornado siren goes off?

It was wild here all last night.

Two waves of storms with high winds, drenching rain, and endless lightning.

Lots of damage done, but none here, or to me.

That storm system is supposed to make it's way here, but a lot weaker, late tonight.

They were all over in the St Louis area, but none here. SR says there aren't many tornados, but I read an article in our locaal lib rag that Florida ranks #1 in deaths from the tornados, mostly because of the elderly population and the number of mobile homes. You really need a weather radio here as they're not that responsible around here to have sirens.

Last winter because of the cold weather, the local TV stations were giving away weather alert radios.  They don't cost much, maybe $20 or $25.  You won't get Nadin Abbot-level warnings, but I'm pretty sure her scanners are cardboard boxes with dials and knobs drawn on with permanent marker.

Everyone talks about the weather but no one does anything about it.

I'm doing something about it. But I feel like I'm urinating in the ocean to raise the sea level.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.
