Okay, I'm not criticizing--no way--anyone's posting and the ways they do it. I was just curious.
This morning, I was about ready to leave, when I noticed Karin was shown as posting on a thread about goat cuisine. I really had to get going, but on the other hand Karen's usually pretty witty, and I wanted to see what she was saying before I left.
The second-hand of the clock went round and round and round, always showing Karin was posting. As it was Karin, and as it involved goat cuisine, I really wanted to see what she said before I left.
I was very late in leaving. It was as if (I really don't know what she was doing) she started a sentence, then went to fix breakfast, finished the sentence, then went to fold the laundry, started a second sentence, then went out to mow the lawn, finished the second sentence, then changed the linen on the beds, started a third sentence, then went to wash the walls, &c., &c., &c.
The one who gives the longest, agonizingest "waits" is, of course, vesta dear.
Something like this always happens:
8:20 a.m. he: Hey, it's time, we better get going.
8:20 a.m. me: But wait a minute, vesta's posting and I want to see what she has to say, before I leave.
.
.
.
8:24 a.m. he: It's getting late; the customer [for a horse-trailer] won't be happy to wait.
8:24 a.m. me: But vesta's posting, and it's always something good.
.
.
.
8:31 a.m. he: Hey--
8:31 a.m. me: I know, but I'm sure she's going to be hitting the "post" button any minute now.
.
.
.
8:42 a.m. he: Uh--
8:42 a.m. me: Don't worry; it'll be worth the wait, as vesta's pretty interesting.
.
.
.
9:03 a.m. he: She's as fast as a glacier; really, we have to get going.
9:03 a.m. me: But she's taking so long it has to be good.
.
.
.
9:14 a.m. he: She's not done posting yet?
9:14 a.m. me: It might be a pretty long piece, making it even more interesting.
.
.
.
9:28 a.m. he: Maybe she died at the computer.
9:28 a.m. me: No, she's just a little bit slow, that's all.
.
.
.
9:39 a.m. me: Damn. Damn. Damn. vesta signed off without posting what she wrote.....
