That is a perfect video to show a first time flier right before take off.  :rofl:

I know it's a matter of camera angle and depth perception but some of those coming in for a landing look like a VTOL landing.

I wholeheartedly agree. It is absolutely a great video to show first timers.  Most of it shows great landings and take-offs in heavy crosswind conditions, and it also shows some very good pilots who aren't to proud to execute a "go-around" rather than try to force a bad, unsafe situation.  I'd personally feel comfortable flying back seat with any one of those pilots at the controls.

this airport in Honduras had a crazy approach.  to stay on glideslope the pilot has to keep the plane a few feet above the descending terrain, then ends with a decent crosswind landing.

I've heard that the hill at the approach end has since been graded to give a safer approach.

Boeing made crosswind landings safer in the B-52 by allowing the main landing gear to crab 20 degrees left or right of the centerline.

It was strange sensation the first time I flew in a BUFF and the pilot tested the crosswing crab system on taxi out.  Felt like some one had moved my seat to the side and I was looking out the side window to follow the forward direction of travel.

Not bad. I think I've been on a couple of flights like that. The weirdest was going into and out of John Wayne Airport in So. Cal. The "noise abatement" technique is ..........................interesting.    :o
