Geeze what wimps. Its a freakin rainstorm, not a blizzard! I'm in Iowa, I've stocked up for winter storms...but rain? Really?Apart from an umbrella what else do you need to survive one?
Mr Mannn, My SIL in Walnut creek CA lost her house years ago along with 5-6 of their neighbors. For some crazy reason the subdivision was built on top of a hill of bare earth.
The hill was a freaking cliff with no trees, rocks or grass to stabilise the soil. When I asked about mud slides the In-laws laughed at me, seemed it had not rained a lot since the summer of 57 and the in-laws family had to evacuate by boat.
Well now 15 years later it did rain and was a disaster. I never dared say a word to them except to send my condolences as had I said " are you laughing at me now" would have caused a family war.
California is not a great place to build a home on land that may not have flooded in 20 years, there is always next year or the one after that.
Never can tell anywhere one lives will not be flooded out, We up here North of Everywhere have had some interesting floods in the last 5 years, people live here for 50 years and get the surprise of their lives when it happens.
I would worry when the fires burn out the vegetation holding the ground together and along comes after a couple years of little rain a deluge of water.
Then what becomes of the crops in the field when they are under water ? Live stock up to their heads and no food ?
Serious problem may be on the way for California or may not, who knows ?
