Mon Feb 24, 2014, 05:04 PMStar Member Omaha Steve (38,679 posts)It's OFFICIAL Omaha Steve to retire December 5, 2014.We have been working under an expired contract since December of 2012. IF the new contract gets ironed out (we are going to the state commission for 2013) and will be signed before December fifth I might go earlier. The reason is a new contract is expected to reduce the pay out formula for retirees.OS

I retired at the end of 2013I have no retirement plan, and would be embarrassed to tell you how much my savings is. So I'm doing it on social security alone. I think I can do it ... maybe you can too. Keep the faith. Pay off any debt if you can. I recently moved to a small one bedroom apartment. My car is 20 years old, but it's paid for. Keep the faith.

Steve's retirement will allow him more time to follow his passion, high school girls basketball.
I noticed that Hostess products are missing from the Snack & Dessert section.

Ok, which one of you wiseacres is greytdemocrat?
Not me. I swear.
Or mine !Steve, in addition to concentrating on his passion for girls basketball, can also concentrate on collecting rare campaign lawn signs.
Maybe he can pay for them this time.

I wonder how this will impact his pending purchase of a new subcompact Volkswagen?
Even if he makes it to retirement without getting aboard a disability gravy-train, the big guy's always going to feel cheated, though, as if he was robbed.Society owed it to him, and he never got it, damn it.<<<knows how the big guy thinks.
If he got a full time job after he retires and got "injured", could he collect disability from that one and his pension at the same time?
Yes, he could. I have no doubt Steve Dawes is already planing his next scam. He'll throw himself down a flight of stairs at some business or hospital, or get bumped by a city bus... on December 6, 2014.
