Secrets are haunting my dreams and nightmares again.

How did I do this to myself?

I'm tired.

1. you must not be sleeping well.

2. It happens, thing build

If the secrets are real ones you have been concealing from yourself and those close to you then I hope you have someone non-judgmental to whom you can start talking. If you have no person who understands your illness and will not judge then you might try Post Secret - though I have no idea how effective that would be.

If the secrets are imagined ones, then you might try examining what your mind thinks those secrets might be and writing them down.

In either event a self help group might help - if you were over here (GB) I'd suggest seeking help from local Health services but I suspect you are in the US and help of that nature would be very dependent on your financial circumstances. If you are covered then at least the ACA means that you cannot be refused further coverage because of a "pre-existing condition"

3. The way you state it is poetic

But since you say 'nightmares', I have to imagine that these secrets are ones you are trying to keep from yourself/conscious mind. Sleep is a time when the different parts of your mind can communicate and it sounds to me like there is something you need to know.

<<<had a really strange dream the other night; I dreamed I was sentenced to be hung.

Before I go any further, I must point out that I no more hear in my dreams than I do in real life; it's all reading of body language.  And sometimes I read body language wholly wrongly.

I wasn't sure why the judge sentenced me to be hung, but I accepted it with equanimity.  To make it even more odd, I was then released, after my promise to show up to be hung a few days hence.

I spent the next few days going about settling my affairs and making my peace with God, and showed up at the courthouse at what I assumed was the appointed time.  There were cops, including dutch508, all over the place, but none of them seemed particularly interested in me.

I stood under the gallows, waiting for the longest time.  All these other people running around, but not a one of them paying the least attention to me.  I shrugged my shoulders, and walked away without hindrance.

<<<wonders what that dream meant.

I went through a period a few years ago when I was scared to sleep.

Man, did I post some bizarre stuff here and TOS.

For once I have a tiny bit of sympathy for the primitives.

As a conservative I care.

I haven't had a nightmare since I was a wee lad. I dream mostly about work.

What? You're joking, right.

Many were the weekend where I awaited the dawn of a new Monday so I could get back to work.

Yeah, my job was fun.

Last night I dreamt I was hung what a coincidence.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I rarely dream, that I can remember anyway.  The ones I do remember are usually about houses with lots of rooms.

That is a really common dream for me - homes with many rooms, often with a hidden wing accessible via secret passageway.

I rarely remember mine as well, but the ones I do remember are about off-road motorcycle racing, something I did quite extensively as a teen/young adult.

Primitives would shat themselves if they could get just a glimpse of the things I do in my dreams. (Here's a hint: DUmmies die in job lots - the lucky ones do, anyway.  :fuelfire: )

Is there an actual number associated with a job lot as with a gross or bakers dozen?  Or is it just a crap load?

Weird, I do dream a lot as I am a smoker and nicotine seems to highten dream activity.

I can only think about half a dozen dreams that effected me in the waking world that I can remember years later.

Only one was a warning into the future, We had just bought a new home and in the dream a young blond man was coming up the stairs, and pushed me into my bedroom.

This was a nightmare --But 2 years later my daughters boyfriend broke into our home, young and blond and  challenged me, by this time I had a Dobie that backed him down.

I got the dog due to the dream -SERIOUSLY---.

Strange but I also years later got a Rottie because of reoccurring dreams of someone breaking into the home.   Once I got the big brute the dreams stopped.

What is going on in our heads when we dream, are they vestiges of the things that we awake not notice.

I can understand of dreaming about the past, but why once in a while the dreams of what may happen in the future ?

The Australians Aborigine are a fun topic, they believed at one time that the only world was in dream time and awake was just to eat food and procreate.

About halfway between a cubic pantload and a metric shit-ton. :-)
