Spicy Pig Candy...

Last year's bacon jam was a hit so I though I'd try some Spicy Pig Candy to take to a family get together this year. They love anything with bacon.

This is from the Baron of BBQ - Paul Kirk.

Spicy Pig Candy

16 oz thick cut bacon
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 tsp granulated garlic
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp coriander
1 tsp dry mustard
a couple of dashes of cayenne pepper

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a 12 x 17 baking pan with foil. Place cookie drying racks in pan. Line racks with bacon strips.

In a small bowl, combine all ingredients and sprinkle liberally over bacon. Bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked thoroughly. Remove from oven, pat bacon to remove excess grease and let sit to cool and set up. Cut in half to make small appetizers.

This is something you can't sample right out of the oven unless you want to end up in the burn unit.

Well now, you know the bacon is just an appetizer, right?

You need to make sure you leave room for the cauliflower breadsticks.

And here I thought you were just making an outlandish statement.
Then, to my shame and amazement, I went back to the DUmpster and saw that thread.

Cauliflower breadsticks are just the side dish.

The main course is lentil loaf:

and meatloaf made of cream of broccoli soup:

You will also need to leave room for chili with mushrooms:

And for dessert,  bread made with cauliflower and strawberry syrup:

I've had candied bacon, IMHO it's gilding the lily.  I'd rather just have plain old bacon.

A collection of primitive recipes would be nice addition to the Dumping Ground.
