Tomorrow getting potatoes to make the potato cake, with a good meal. I also got my mom's flan recipe, already modified for us diabetics. One of the things I miss about living in El Paso was the foodMany of the people I worked with would bring in different dishes and eating over at friends' homes opened us up to all sorts of Hispanic and native family dishes that were incredible. I was introduced to flan by one of our neighbors and I've never had it since that was anywhere nearly as good. I miss homemade tamales around Christmas time also.

I will post the recipe laterand all errors and problems, blame my mother. It is time consuming, but not that bloody difficult. Now the potato latke and cake (not quite a cake, baked dish) that my dad used to do, that should be a joy, though will need to go find a finer blade for the food processor.

I can't wait.
