My repug of an uncle who has always been self employed argues that Min Wage can't be raised in the U.S. because our money is the world currency standard and that if we raised the min wage in this country places like England and Canada would suffer because there economy couldn't handle raising the min wage.


My wife especially tried to point out to my uncle that actually right now the dollar is weaker than other countries currency.

He bitched that she was a stupid female liberal.

So how do we counter this argument?

I'm sorry, I don't buy that a conservative would say that.  He may have politely disagreed, but not called her a "stupid female liberal".

He's been around for a while; older guy, lives in Pennsylvania, claims he can't work.

Always looking for a free ride.

Or at least a cheap one; one of his most-memorable posts was where he and his wife were trying to find a new place to live (their landlord got tired of them)--roughly, northwestern Pennsylvania--but it had to be two bedrooms, less than $400 a month, with utilities included in the rent.

I dunno if he found such a place.
