Oh my.

No big deal; just a token post so that the cooking and baking primitives are reassured that franksolich has been keeping his eye on them, because the cooking and baking primitives, all of them, are going to contend in the Top DUmmies of 2013 contest a few weeks hence.

What's for Dinner? ~ Sunday Nov 3rd

<<<notices dear old sweet Lu's gotten lazy again, as she just asks a question and doesn't write anything about what she's fixing for supper.

5. there are a couple steaks in the freezer

i may pull them out and have them with mashers.

I know they've--instant mashed potatoes--been around since, well, forever, but two months ago franksolich discovered those $1 packages of Betty Crocker instant mashed potatoes.

I'd ignored them in the past, because I always thought "instant" food was no good; I was wrong.

<<<hasn't bothered with raw potatoes since then.

8. Short ribs.

Braised with celery, onions and carrots in beef stock. Thyme and chives to add flavor. Will add flour later to thicken the gravy.

9. either meatloaf or chicken

Both of us made meatloaves! The resident gourmand made his while visiting his son in MA, I made mine a day or two ago.

So maybe we'll just forget the meatloaf plan and have chicken breasts and pasta.

Resident Gourmand is heading this way but has to leave tomorrow for Mexico. I think that's the plan, anyway.

We might have a guest tonight.

I experimented with two other dishes today: apple crepes and breaded zucchini and onions with sauces. Both turned out to be very delicious.

I think I'll do crepes more often, now that I know how easy they are.

<<<because has a bad cold, thinks will dine on Italianate cusine this evening, running to the convenience store in town and picking up a $1.60 slice of their pepperoni pizza for supper.

chipotle = smoked jalapeno

Not as hot as a regular jalapeno and usually packed in Mexican ketchup (adobo).

What's this "shitpot" stuff?  Anybody know?

A type of pepper. Use them all the time especially in the crockpot.

I think tonight is tacos. Depends on if I feel like cooking.

Easiest and best mashed potatoes I've had are the microwaved Bob Evans brand.

Mashed pots and now mashers--they are taunting us.

The best thing about mashed potatoes... you can refry them later and they're twice as good.

Ahhh, the memories !
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.
