Cashier forgot to charge me for $64 of merchandise. What to do? I need advise :(
I went to Kohl's last weekend because they had great sales and I had coupons and cash back totaling $45. I bought some Halloween decorations, several pants and a jacket for my 4-year old, a shirt for my husband, and those ultra comfy go walk shoes from Skechers ($64). I usually don't buy expensive stuff but I walk a lot and can't handle uncomfortable shoes.

Checking out, my total was about $50 and the cashier told me that I saved $140. I was elated. However, by the time I got home, I sensed something wasn't right. I looked at the receipt and she forgot to scan the shoes.

I wanted to go back but then I thought they might fire her for that oversight. I didn't want that. I still feel guilty for essentially stealing.

What would you do in that situation?

No replies yet.

Here's me prediction:

9 out of 10 DUmmies will say that she should take em back.

9 out of 10 DUmmies only say that publically but would keep em

Bouncy.

1) The cashier can't get "fired" for something that is not known.
2) DUmmies lie. All the time.
3) DUmmies have an entitlement mentality -- if the shoes weren't rung up it is destiny's bequeath.

10. Thanks for all of the good advice.

I agree, I will definitely go back and pay for them. I was feeling really bad ever since.

I am worried that once they know my name and have my debit card number, they could trace the cashier that checked me out. Maybe I should get some cash and pay for it without them knowing my name. The last thing I want is someone to get fired ... but I want to pay for the stuff I got.

Again, thanks. I'll try to find a way to pay for it without jeopardizing her job

The cashier is a woman, more than likely a minority.  I'm sure if the cashier was a white male, the Dummy wouldn't give a flying **** about getting him fired, but would still keep the shoes and not pay for them.

7. I could live with my conscience knowing it was an honest mistake on both parts...

.... and move on with my life.

I wouldn't bother going back.

Your time is worth something too. In my mind, worth more than a return trip.

I could be biased because I just spent 4 hours Saturday in a Sprint store straightening out an account problem created by the Sprint rep's mistake when I upgraded a phone 2 weeks ago (spent 4 hours on that Saturday also).

I suspect that they all think this way.

11. Thank you

that is what my husband said. However, I still feel bad about owning something that I didn't pay for.

I know that they add $$$ to every item because of people stealing stuff. I love those shoes and every step I am taking, they are saying "you didn't pay for us"

It was a mistake on both parts ... I should have checked the receipt before I left the store. But NOW that I know that I didn't pay for them, there is no way around it.

Almost fell out of my chair.

How about buying health insurance using a subsidy? Does it make you "feel bad" that others have to pay more to make up for your monthly premium?

I doubt it.

In other words, there's no way in hell a DUmpmonkey democrat will return something she shoplifted.

She just tells the DUmp repeatedly how she feels badly about stealing the shoes.

Poor thing. Martyred by her own thievery.

It won't be a full return. It will just be an attempt that gets short circuited by circumstances beyond their control.

Exactly Gina...  WTH is there a thread on the internet about this?  This just shows how morally incomplete these people are.  I know what she wanted was everyone to say keep them so she wouldn't "feel" bad about it.  This DUmmy if she does have some sort of conscience might not be completely gone yet, but she is on the fence.

See in a Socialist society you wouldn't have to worry about this kind of thing, not because there wouldn't be money as you DUmmies think, but because they would have shot you for taking the shoes and the cashier for making the mistake.  Thus making a statement for less future mistakes.  Not to mention the shoes would have been $8,764 dollars because the $ wouldn't be worth the toilet paper you wipe your ass with.

…just my two cents… if you don't, you ARE responsible "for essentially stealing"… who am I to judge though??

Who are you to judge? Your fellow DUmbass stole a pair of shoes.

It is clearly thievery.

Any normal, civilized, moral human being is in a position to judge an admitted thief.

Actually, I guess that does exempt democrats.

Never mind.

Shoplifting is at all time high. People are getting desperate. I hate when parents use their children, as an excuse. In produce, they will pick up a piece of fruit, that is normally priced by the pound, and give it to their child. At the register, the parent tells the cashier, that the child wanted a peach and it was only 50 cents, when weighed. That is not the issue, the company is losing money, when a product cannot be weighed properly. FEED YOUR CHILD BEFORE GOING SHOPPING!! :thatsright:

Oh it's easy. If it's a red company, keep them because it's a penny or two the Rethuglican capitalist whores won't be donating to Rethuglican candidates. If it's a blue company, keep them because you just know such compassionate people would want others to have a much-deserved free pair of shoes from time to time. It's a win-win for DUmmies.

Seriously though, if you're an alleged adult and you feel the need to consult a morally bankrupt group of heathens like DU about a dilemma that most pre-pubescent children can figure the right and wrong of, you've got problems that go way beyond a pair of unpaid for shoes.

I used the nadin to search for Skechers Go Walk shoes just so I could see what kind of shoes a DUmmy might wear .  I would call them hideous.  They look like something a little trailer park rugrat might wear.
http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-c33179/skechers-gowalk-baby-walking-shoes-women.jsp

Myself, I would probably never have noticed that the receipt was wrong unless there was a problem with the shoes and I needed to take them back.

p.s.  I see that Kohls now has them on sale for ~$40.00, if that helps to ease the DUmmy's conscience.
