Insurance for my 28 year old grandson

This young man (28) is living in the basement of his parents house. He has a minimum wage job. This is in Michigan. His mother and step-dad both work earning around 65,000 in combined income. He has a younger sister (18) who goes to school and works part time in retail. Any ideas on what he can expect when applying for health insurance?
I ask this because i want to sit him down at a computer and get him signed on and insured.

I bet you are real proud of your grandson, he fits the DUmmy stereotype almost perfectly, only difference is you claim he has a min wage job.

10. Thank you

for all the replies. I went to link provided and found some good results. Now i have to corner that young man and get him on the computer.
Thanks again

Good grief that young man is damn near 30 and needs his grandparent to force him to comply with 0bamacare.  :mental:

However, I cannot remember if Michigan expanded Medicaid. If it did not and he is in the portion of expanded Medicaid, he unfortunately will be out of luck.

Note to the GOP: yes, this creates an incentive not to improve one's situation, but whose fault is it? YOURS. There has been months to solve this issue. You preferred spending time and money making sure these people got nothing.

Yeah, that's the ticket. It's somebody else's fault that he's a 28 year old mooch.

It's also the republican's fault that the website doesn't work.

Except the DUmmie is not improving the young man's situation (On whom I'll reserve judgment, things happen after all), the DUmmie is improving his or her OWN situation by trying to saddle the grandson with a crushing debt in order to help pay for benefits the grandparent hopes to exploit.

Between the subsidies (welfare handouts) and Medicaid (another handout) I wonder what happens next May when the government hits default almost overnight?

The kid was raised by DUmmies so I don't reserve judgement. It's obvious the kid was raised in a household that relied heavily on government handouts and he was never taught anything about hard work and self reliance.

Even if there is no default, suppose Mr. living in the basement signs on to Medicare, thinking that all is well with the world. He can keep his looser minimum wage job. But then a few years later tragedy strikes and his parents exit the earth. Even if there is no debt on the house (assuming they own their house), welfare will not allow over a certain amount of personal assets, so Mr. living in the basement will either have to get over his grief very quickly and get a good paying job or D-6 home ownership to keep his health insurance.

Assuming this is a real story, the kid isn't going to comply with Ocare. He is going to change his tax withholding so that he owes money every year and is unable to be fined.

This notion has been all over the intertubes for weeks, and seems to be what most of the young and healthy are now planning to do. To bad, primitives.

Tell him to sit tight and pay the fine if necessary.  He doesn't really need insurance.  What risk is there in sitting in your mom's basement?  Radon gas is the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

28 years old living in the parents basement with nothing, but Cheetos fingers to show for it..  What's his DUmmie name.

I say the possibility exists that the DUmmie asking the question is in fact the 28 year old living in a basement.

People are adaptive that way...try to screw them by putting them in a legal box, and they will look for the most efficient way to minimize the screwing and evade their oppressor's evil plans.  And these days, they will then share their solution with several thousand of their closest virtual friends, and adopt an even better, more adaptive plan if any of those friends can supply one...

Boner will take charge and raise the debt ceiling and possibly some "revenues" too.

Soon it is going to be all about revenues. Say goodby to the mortgage and college interest deductions at the very minimum. Taxes will have to go up. When most all businesses have to buy insurance for their employes next year, at double the costs they are now, expect prices for everything to skyrocket as well.

You missed something.  This is MICHIGAN.  The same state that has people who have won MILLIONS in the lottery still drawing welfare benefits because their winnings are not considered income.

I think the left thinks being eligible for Medicaid is a success. Do they have any idea the small amount of providers available to those on Medicaid? You could probably count on 1 hand the number we have in our county.

Or do not allow asset ownership such as a house.

Flood, what Perky said, sinkhole, fire upstairs...   :rotf:

The poster claims to have a 28 year old grandson living in their basement that's too (fill in the blank with a derogatory adjective) to get his OWN insurance.

What we have here is a whole nest of DUmmies, and what we need to do is nuke it from orbit.  (It's the only way to be sure.)

By 28, I had 2 boys (6 and 2), drove a truck three days a week and farmed the rest of the time.

Makes me mad as hell we not only let people like this live, we subsidize it!!!

I'm very much in the same generation as the grandson - if I had to rely on my grandparents to organise my healthcare I would probably die of shame.
