Oh, yeah, I will be adding some of their music too. :)

BTW,  found a kickass fan video for that Dope song:

I'm drinking a Bud Light Lime right now. You're welcome to have one.  :cheersmate:

As far as tunage goes, I mostly listen to a Christian station...Casting Crowns, David Crowder Band...that sort of thing.

Is the beer good? I had the Miller w/lime....it was yummy...

"Yummy"? "Yummy"???  Yummy????

Men describe beer as hearty, full-bodied, hits the spot, good for what ails ya, awesome, solid, quenching, or even the ever--useful "good."

Men do NOT describe ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY BEER as "yummy."

I'm a chick...it's short for Robbi

Dyam!  I had no idea -- you should have posted that over on the "12 things" thread.  :)

Now I have to go back and reread all your posts...

There should be a permanent one.  We could start with the question, when did music officially die?  Then offer 1971, 1981, 1991, 2001, still great (I of course vote 1971 was the beginning of the end and 1981 was the end).

MTV effectively killed music, although there was a little revival in 1991.

My philosophy is that ugly people play better music.

As examples, I give you the Rolling Stones. Bob Dylan. The Band. The Allman Brothers.

Possibly.  I think it started with The Beatles and their overproduced "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album  released in June 1, 1967.  The Beatles had the talent and the results were remarkable (making it look easy), but unfortunately the album opened the floodgates.  Afterwards, everyone with a guitar pick and a misplaced desire thought they could cover up what they lacked in talent with a slick production and strategically placed feedback.

But back to the recommendations...

I've yet to see anyone call for Van Morrison.  Some of the best music of the late 60's/early 70's, including Moondance, Brown Eyed Girl, Have I Told You Lately, and Into the Mystic.

Great stuff to unwind to after a crappy day.

Then again, when I've had a REALLY crappy day, it's me, a few beers, and SEAL's first (1991 self-titled) album.

Okay, here we go with the first 10 songs:

SOme songs were of my own choice, btw... but I did keep suggestions in mind of course:

1.) 3 Doors Down "It's Not My Time"
2.) Led Zeppelin "Houses of The Holy"
3.) Led Zeppelin "Stairway to Heaven"
4.) Allison Krauss and Union Station "Restless"
5.) Allison Krauss and Union Station "Goodbye is All We Have"
6.) Dope "You Spin Me Round"  (will download "Die M'F'er Die" in the next batch of songs, as soon as I preview it first. LOL )
7.) Godsmack "I Stand Alone" (downloaded this and the following two after getting pestered by a friend   :lmao:)
8). Godsmack "VooDoo"
9.)  Godsmack "Awake"
10.) Weezer "Buddy Holly" (again, pestered into downloading it by a friend :whatever:)

Next batch is coming up, as soon as I peruse this thread again for more ideas...it can be difficult, because many of the suggested bands are not available on the Zune Marketplace. :bawl:

Damn girl, I know Sully.  I could have got him to play it for ya personally had you waited until he got back from the WSOP.

That's a great suggestion.   I'm trying to remember all the oldies that I loved to listen to as a child (when my stepdad took me to school, he'd ALWAYS have the oldies station on in the car)   I've been downloading older music today, mostly (predominantly CCR), and I'm trying to create a broad spectrum of music from different decades and genres.

Another group you might want to consider is Steely Dan.  Pick your fave, just not "Hey Nineteen".

Personally, I'll go with Kid Charlemagne, Aja, Do It Again, FM, Black Friday, Peg, Josie...

Then again, Donald Fagen had some good stuff with the Nightfly album...(IGY, New Frontier)...

But hey, it's your player...

'Sho am.  He's a poker player, so am I.  We've bumped heads (and chips) a few times in Seabrook.  I even ran into him last year in Vegas the day he got knocked out of the Main Event.

Yep, and it also depends on whether or not those artists are available for download off of the Zune Marketplace.  I checked with a few of those names I don't recognize.  Their albums are listed, but are NOT available to download as of yet.  :banghead: It's very annoying that they (Microsoft) do that.

I've found lots of bands I never bothered to listen to before by using the Pandora station I set up.  Sure, Testament, Exodus, and Kreator have been around since the 80's, but it's not like they got played on the radio.  Ditto for Motorhead.

Trust me, iTunes isn't much better.  I've been looking for a lot of stuff I don't want to buy/can't buy (things like Midnight Oil, Radiohead, Tool, etc), only to find they don't exist in Apple's so-called "million song library"...bull-SHIT!

This situation is why I intend to just start borrowing cds from others and ripping them to the player.  :uhsure:

Well, I got a pair of Zune gift cards totalling $50 (can purchase up to 50 songs) for my birthday.

I'm trying to break out of my country/southern rock shell, so any suggestions would be great.  ;)

PS, it will probably be awhile before I can download any songs.  I'm downloading an episode of Ghost Hunters  right now (mostly as an experiment to test the 80 GB Zune's video capability), and it's taking FOREVER (mostly has to do with the apartment's shitty internet connection)!  :censored:   I need a beer... anyone got any?  :-)

You can do what I do.  Check out the groups and singers on MySpace.  You can listen to 3-4 songs of most groups.  Almost every popular group has a page on there, and some put up thier songs from their current CDs.  There is also a way of downloading most songs that the artist has listed.(Free, I might add)  I listen mainly to country music, but have gotten tired of the same old crap played on the radio. So I started downloading unknow artists songs from myspace.

I'd love to be able to do that, but:

I have yet to figure out how to take songs from internet sources other than the Zune MarketPlace and put them on my Zune mp3 player.   :(

Someone here gave me a link to be able to do that, but I lost it when Firefox started having issues and I had to clear everything out.  :bawl:

I use mozilla firefox and  the video download helper extension.  I just change the file type to .mp3 after downloading, and also save the fils as the artist and song name.
