Well, I got a pair of Zune gift cards totalling $50 (can purchase up to 50 songs) for my birthday.

I'm trying to break out of my country/southern rock shell, so any suggestions would be great.  ;)

PS, it will probably be awhile before I can download any songs.  I'm downloading an episode of Ghost Hunters  right now (mostly as an experiment to test the 80 GB Zune's video capability), and it's taking FOREVER (mostly has to do with the apartment's shitty internet connection)!  :censored:   I need a beer... anyone got any?  :-)

I am interested in this thread as I need some good music to load my zune as well.

Is a Zune better then an Ipod?

Serious question, I don't know...my 8-track walkman is getting a little heavy....back in the day 24lbs was not bad for a walkman...

Thanks, BC.   I see some good ones in that list that deserve to be on my Zune  (I've heard most of them...)   :)

However, a friend of mine is going to loan me his Led Zeppelin cds for ripping to the mp3 player, so I'll be getting that for free.   :-)

I'm drinking a Bud Light Lime right now. You're welcome to have one.  :cheersmate:

As far as tunage goes, I mostly listen to a Christian station...Casting Crowns, David Crowder Band...that sort of thing.

Are they both about the same price? Easy to use, etc??? If so I will just buy a zune.

I've never had the beer with lime in it... I'll have to try it one of these days.

That's something else I needed to check into...some Christian rock.   I have yet to check, but I'm hoping the Zune Marketplace has music from Skillet available.  (I'm still waiting on that damn download to finish).

Depends on what size you want... I have the 80 GB, which is $250 (mine was a Christmas present).  I'm never going to be able to fill it up, though.   :lmao:

They range in size from 4, 8, 30 and 80 GB (with the price range running from $130 to $250).

If you want smaller and cheaper than that, you may have to go with an iPod.  Microsoft hasn't developed anything smaller than the 4 GB Zune yet.

I'm downloading one I haven't seen yet, from season 3, when they visited Ireland.   I'm hoping it's worth it.

How's this for diversity... these are all albums I HAD to have on my iPod when my wife got me my 80 GB last Christmas:

Moody Blues: Days of Future Passed (<-- the full length version of Nights in White Satin is the most majestic song ever)

Miles Davis: Kind of Blue

Alison Krauss & Union Station: Live

Entire Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin catalouge (honestly, how can anyone go wrong there?)

Rolling Stones: Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street (I'll never get tired of Can't You Hear Me Knockin, Wild Horses, Tumbling Dice, and Sweet Virginia)... in fact, I got Fourty Licks because they just have too many good songs not to get the most up to date greatest hits collection

The Beatles: Help (you gotta Hide Your Love Away) and the White Album (while my guitar gently weeps)

Any collection of Tchaikovsky works (Nutcracker selections, the 1812 Festival Overture, it tickles my inner culture-snob, what can I say)

There's tons more.  I could go on and on about what I've got on my iPod  :hyper: :-)

Oh yeah, that's a good one.  That and Waverly Sanatorium are my personal faves.

This is true, they're an excellent group.  But I feel they're live album was a cut above the rest.  Their high-water mark, if you will.

Red October, you MUST be OLD!!!

:old:  Kids these days!  Gimme a glass of whiskey on the rocks with some smooth late night jazz any day.  Or a Sam Adams Boston Lager and some classic rock.

Or bowl of Cali bud and some dope-ass gansta beats... I can do it all!
