What White People Don't Understand About Rachel Jeantel

A predominantly white jury is not going to like Rachel Jeantel. Let's just be real here.

The 19-year-old Miami native is an easy target for obvious, yet shallow reasons. But let's not forget why she's actually on the stand in George Zimmerman's second degree murder trial. Rachel was the last person to speak to a living, breathing Trayvon Martin. The guilt, shame and sorrow she must feel is something most of us will never be able to comprehend. You could hear it in her voice, see it in her jittery body language. She is feeling the wrath of this highly publicized case.

Rachel was thrown head first into this murder story, unwillingly. And although she had repeatedly said she did not want to be a witness, did not even want to believe she was the last person Trayvon spoke to, Rachel took the stand for all the right reasons. She was asked to by the family of her deceased friend and feeling part of the burden for his death, she wanted to help.

Rachel was raw, emotional, aggressive and hostile, and she was unapologetically herself.

And if the 5 white jurors (excluding the 1 Latina) are like most white people I know,

TRANSLATION: I can't be racist, I have white friends.

Quote
they are unfortunately not going to like Rachel. They won't understand her, especially not her defensive nature, and this will unfortunately work against her. Even though it shouldn't.

<snip>

Less intelligent and more confused.

Less intelligent because of the "language barrier" and more confused because of the lawyers' failure to understand who Rachel is, where she comes from, what kind of life she lives.

So, if someone had a life experience where a racial group was constantly committing crimes against them they are to be forgiven, right?

Quote
It seems the middle-aged white men on both sides of this case are totally unaware of what Rachel's life is like - a 19-year-old high school student of Haitian descent who knows nothing more than the few block radius she has grown up in. The cultural differences here are exponential.

Yesterday he "did not get" her reference to 48 hours. But he most likely did. He used the opportunity to laugh at her because she had given him a valid reason for not contacting anyone.
She knew the experience in chronological order - he purposely drilled her about events out or order.
He knows well that teens text and made it strange that someone else posed as Rachel to sent a text to Trayvon.
Most of the time when he said he did not understand her, he did - or should have.

The lawyer is doing everything he can to make her look less intelligent so she can't be believed because she is not coming across as a liar.

I wish the prosecutor would point out that her mother was out of the country and Rachel was dealing with all of this alone.

I don't know who wrote this article, but I found this very offensive.  The writer doesn't know this "Latina" from Adam.  Who's to say what she thinks?  Who's to say what the white women think?  I just don't understand the pidgeonholing that the liberal crowd does.

The racism of the black community is being put on parade and the liberals don't like it.  They are twisting themselves up in knots internet wide, to make excuses for why anyone other than whites have a right to think the way they do.

It's rather amusing to watch.

you ask or are you just trying to 'trap' me in my words? I wish the jury reflected the racial demographics of society at large. Since you asked. That there are racist on that jury? Who knows. But one hispanic, and five whites, that is not a jury to reflect the dead victim's interests here. Just my opinion and I don't think Trayvon will see any type of justice.

Marv--I hope your entire post was sarcasm and not just your last line.

Now, were I the DA in this case, would I have charged Zimmerman with murder?  No.  Manslaughter, maybe, based on the extent of the injuries Trayvon inflicted upon Zimmerman before he was shot.  Even that might be a stretch given that Zimmerman had blood on the BACK AND FRONT of his head and a broken nose as a result of the beating inflicted upon him.

But the DA, having overreached, brings this "star" witness in, who turns out to be more of a liability than anything else to the prosecution's case.

If you had to go to the jury now, Zimmerman is going to walk.  Basically, my whole impression of her testimony was, "This is the best you got?"

Exactly Chris. It should suck to be poor in my opinion. I grew up fairly poor. It made me want to get an education and not be poor. I do understand that there will always be a certain percentage of people that will be habitually poor for whatever reason... but for the most part, anyone with full mental processes can rise above being poor. Some of the wealthiest folks I know have no college education. What they have is a trade. Plumbers make darn good money. A good mechanic can make some good coin. A friend of mine growing up has 5 pawn shops and makes big bucks.

There is success out there for anyone that decides to work for it.

Sitting in your section 8 housing and waiting on the government welfare check is not going to make anyone successful.

Speaking as a white person, I am not buying her testimony at all.
Why? not because of her poor speech or surly manner.
No. It's because she LIED. Everything the b!tch said on day one, was shown to be a LIE on day two.
Her freaking story changed 12 times depending to whom she was talking too.

I can't believe she was ever on the phone with Travon...because she LIED. She is a LIAR. She sat in front of a nation and told LIES. Perjury is a crime under normal circumstances...I guess not in this case.
