Our Boy Scout Troop has folded.

It's over, the troop voted to disband.....it was unanimous. 75 years of being one of the best if not the best in our council. My son and another boy will be the last to get their Eagle from our troop. MY son and other senior scouts were at the meeting with all the adult leaders. The Scout master and other adult leaders have all turned in their resignations. My son and 2 more boys that have just turned 18 and were going to stay with the troop as assistants, all refused to step up and be the new scout leaders.....I am glad they didn't volunteer for all I see is trouble ahead. Son was emotional when he got home after the meeting, I guess he's never seen old men shed tears before....lot of tears shed there tonight. They've paid for summer camp but they won't be going.

Another local troop is having a similar meeting shortly. A couple of their leaders were at our troops meeting and they say that they're probably going to vote to fold also.

Damn spineless ass progressive democrats ruin everything decent.

Very sorry to hear of this, JR. I know how important Scouting is to your son and, by extension, you.

Perhaps something else can come along - there have been rumblings of an alternative to BSA -- Royal Rangers, for example.

This could very well be an opportunity to explore new territory and learn new things for the boys and adults alike.

I would love to see RR pick up where BSA has failed.  I was involved in RR for several years, first as a Ranger, and later as an outpost leader.

It saddens me to hear of this, but I sure don't blame them for voting to disband.  I'm glad to hear there may be alternatives.  I used to interpret for a couple of young scouts who were deaf and didn't have fathers involved.  I grew to admire the scout leaders and what the scouts stood for in all the boys' lives.

Such a shame, this saddens me.  And I have to wonder how many more troops around the country have or are contemplating disbanding.

As a former Girl Scout and have had a couple kids in the BSA I am devastated that the children and their leaders choose to give in without a fight against the perverts and those that need to start their own club, say the Gay Scouts where cooking and sewing and or clothe designing are the main subjects.  How to avoid the Gay bashers and how to conduct your self in the bathroom of a Gay bar.   

We need a throw back to the early 1900's when survival was the big thing.   How to build a fire, use a gun, how to hunt, trap survive  in either the forest or the city.     

The boy and girl Scouts was meant to give kids survival methods where ever they found themselves.

In my time we learned as girls mind you not the cooking or sewing, that we received in Home EC. in the schools.   We learned how to build a raft, how to signal for rescue with mirrors, Mores Code and a great deal the boys were learning.    My most unfavored class was how to remove a blood sucker.

Best advice I received and handed down to my kids, if being attacked don't yell for help---Yell FIRE, few will ignore that call.

I wonder if Heritage Girls have been infiltrated yet.  Girl Scouts went via the liberal agenda a long time ago.

JR, I was wondering what was going to happen to your son.  I sure am glad he got Eagle before all of this brouhaha.  I know a few good men that got to Life, and Order of the Arrow, but for one reason or another, never made it to Eagle and regret it now.

I don't think the goal was to force gays into scouting. I think the goal was to destroy scouting, one of the few institutions that teach values contrary to the liberal agenda.

I was a scout and a Catholic but my troop was sponsored by the local United Methodist Church.

My older sister was a girl scout at the same church.

It was this church that was the center of scouting for my area.



The gay agenda is not only to destroy scouting but to destroy anything that represents "traditional morals" including religion. It's no secret that the liberals and the democrat's agenda are the same as the gays. Everything that our country was founded on is being trashed.

Thank you....he has made Eagle in the Boy Scouts and last year he made Vigil in the OA. This turn of events with the national organization takes some of the shine off his accomplishments.....and tonight he graduated high school with Honors.

Strict rules on who can or can not join for any reason, race, sex, and who is allowed to attend any function.   

EX hubby joined as did I but we had little knowledge of the rules.     Each chapter has different rules, some do not allow unescorted woman into the bar area, and one in Portsmouth VA a Military based economy town near Norfork  did not of all things allow members in Uniform to enter the bar area or most any place on the property, strange that one.

This was a very long time ago and we were both in our 20's and so naive. 

However I think one could modify this idea that would exclude gays but welcome boys of all race and faiths.

I don't know how much I can or should divulge from the e-mail but I will say this....It was the northeast liberals only that wanted this and they controlled everything that went on there and didn't allow any other voices or opinions to be heard. They shoved it down the throat of BSA.

I was just reading about a church that cancelled their scouts' charter because of the homosexual vote.  In another article I read that it's mostly churchs that sponsor scouts.  I wonder what the effect of that is going to be.  Wouldn't that have been something they considered before voting on the issue?
