Any temp workers I have ever used filled out a time card from the temp agency, the temp agency billed us, and the temp agency paid the temp. If they went over 8 in a day or 40 in a week there was overtime pay. The hiring company uses temp agencies for several reasons. Temporary work loads, trying out people before hire (you pay finders fees in that case), and just saving the HR hassle. The hire company pays a lot more than what the temp agency pays as the agency covers workers comp, UE (in some cases), FICA, HR costs, overhead, etc, and makes an evil profit. All things that we did not have to cover but it did add up to about double the temps hourly rate. Of course as you hire more professional people that ratio changes because of the $/hr difference. I have never heard of a temp agency using a salary but there could be some negotiated contracts for longer terms which we never used.

I give this fable ZERO BONGS as I do in any story where a DUche claims to be working.

I started out as a "temp" at my current job and was hired full-time last August.  I went to work when I was suppose to, did my job, was respectful to everyone (not just the supervisors), didn't bad mouth both companies (temp agency and current employer) on the internet and look at me!  Woo... I am a HAPPY full-time employee receiving benefits and bonuses.

Tav, you might want to take notes.

To Taverner, boo-****ing-hoo ya pansy ass, whiny bitch.

You take your clients money, you do the work expected, see how easy that is.

When the client is there, you are there.

You are there even when the client isn't because if work needs doing, it gets done.

Don't like your job, develop a better skill set and find more appealing work.

But for the love of God, stop your pissing and moaning, man-up, and STFU.

The irony is that both he and Cali would have something in common.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

He hates business with such a burning hot fury, that he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near one.  He would be the prime suspect in case of sabotage.

OMG, how lame is that, that he posted it twice, nearly verbatim?

You're not talking about it. You're complaining. Or, you know, venting, whatever. Complaining will get you exactly nowhere. If you're so sick of it that you're not afraid anymore, then start some action. If you're still afraid and keeping your head down, start working to not be afraid anymore.

139. What do you think the opposite of capitalism is? It ain't "work 50, get paid for 50."

It's work whatever is necessary, to take up the slack for your co-worker, who can't come to work this week. Then that co-worker gets part of your pay.

That's socialism. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

And forget about a raise based on merit. That's not socialism. That's capitalism.

Don't blame one bad employer on capitalism. What they are doing is ILLEGAL. It's against capitalism. But that's how it works at my employment company, too. They pretend they don't know if I work more hours, but they know. I turn in my time.

There are some down times where you work, aren't there? Where you chat a bit or whatever? You're not really focused and very productive. You don't get docked for that. So if I work a couple of hours longer, I figure it all evens out. Working TEN hours longer is a different matter entirely, though.

I'm definitely pro-capitalism. That's how people get ahead and get paid more because of merit. It's not always fair. Nothing is always fair. Socialism isn't fair. But at least with capitalism, you can bust your ass and get paid some serious money. I have. It's hell going through it, but nice when you get paid for it.

I'm shocked.

I am a contractor

Last edited Tue Apr 30, 2013, 08:09 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)

I am a contractor

That means I get paid for 40 hours of work, whether I do 40 or more

If I do 39, I get paid for 39 hours of work. If I do 50, I get paid for 40.

If I complain, I am fired.

If I take this up with the state, I get fired and probably blackballed.

I will "never work in this town again."

I can leave, and that's about my only freedom.

We are expected to drive sales so they can get bonuses. We don't get bonuses.

Long ago they promised full employment if you do a good job.

Ha.

I haven't seen one contractor go perm in the almost 2 years I've been here.

It's a joke.

Yes, I know many of you out there have it worse.

But that really doesn't matter.

And guess what? This place was recently given an award for being one of the best companies to work for!!!

If I had enough money to survive unemployment for a while, I might consider trying to unionize us.

But all of us have been well scared away from that.

Besides, there are a bunch of workers in (((NAME YOUR COUNTRY HERE)))) who would be willing to slit their whole families' throats for a chance to interview at this job.

I'll say it again....

**** CAPITALISM!!!!

Does anyone know where this piece of shit works?  I think they might be interested in how their employee views his current occupation and its management.

Yeah, but his website should be pulling in revenue by now, shouldn't it?

Oh Good Lord...

I can't even imagine this lugubrious asshole as a salesperson.  He's anathema to everything that sales represents.

You need to be genuinely upbeat, positive, and optimistic.  You need to be money motivated to be able to shrug off rejection.

And he's composing whiny screeds about how tough life is?  Also, I'm pretty sure they expect salespeople to actually SELL, so he'd have to quit his other full time job of posting on Democratic Underground.
