DUmmy Taverner Hates His Job - Could Lose It

DUmmy Taverner, a self-admitted intravenous drug addict, is sick of not being respected:

I am sick of being treated less than human

 I am a contractor

That means I get paid for 40 hours of work, whether I do 40 or more

If I do 39, I get paid for 39 hours of work. If I do 50, I get paid for 40.

If I complain, I am fired.

If I take this up with the state, I get fired and probably blackballed.

I will "never work in this town again."

I can leave, and that's about my only freedom.

We are expected to drive sales so they can get bonuses. We don't get bonuses.

Long ago they promised full employment if you do a good job.

Ha.

I haven't seen one contractor go perm in the almost 2 years I've been here.

It's a joke.

Yes, I know many of you out there have it worse.

But that really doesn't matter.

And guess what? This place was recently given an award for being one of the best companies to work for!!!

If I had enough money to survive unemployment for a while, I might consider trying to unionize us.

But all of us have been well scared away from that.

Besides, there are a bunch of workers in Bengalore who would be willing to slit their whole families' throats for a chance to interview at this job.

I'll say it again....

**** CAPITALISM!!!!

What a shitty company!!

I wonder if Hitachi, or whoever he's working for these days, knows what Mark thinks about his job.

He should ask DUmmy cali or DUmmy walldude about the respect and freedom of unemployment.

13. You've clearly never worked for a company where the low paid contract employees do all the work...
...while the lazy, entitled actual employees reap all the benefits of the contractors' hard work and shockingly low wages.

While I'm not in that position now, I have been in the past...and it is a degrading situation that is characterized by feelings of helplessness and hopelessness that only grow with each passing day.

At least when you're unemployed, there's a real possibility that your tomorrow will actually be better than your today was.

Step One - Congress passes a bunch of laws protecting the environment, worker's rights and safety codes

Step Three - This confuses voters into electing candidates bought and paid for by CorpyMcUSA

Lather, rinse repeat

23. At least in the present context it doesn't
It's why true democracy is a prerequisite for a more humane capitalism. If we also regulate elections such that CorpyMcUSA cannot buy outsize "speech" rights in the form of megaphones made of cash, steps 2-4 become much more difficult.

Independent contractor is another term for door to door Fuller Brush man.

A building contractor he's not.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

No, it's a tech-type contractor.  Very common.

Is that how he skirts around the drug testing deal?  They don't test the independent contractors?  If he were full time salaried at such a large and prestigious company, they would most assuredly do the test.  Random, ongoing as well.

Once upon a time I worked as a contractor, it was for a company called "The Future Now", I did low level computer/network support.

The fact of the matter is that it was entry level stuff and I got paid as an entry level prospect. That's what temp work is.

The folkes that are farther up the ladder are getting paid to pay attention to loftier goals, that's why they bring in contractors, to pay attention to things that are less important but you have metrics that have to be met.

DUmmie Tav must be successful in maintaining minimal performance but is not doing to go to contract to hire.

His well conceived plan to lower his performance even lower will have the expected results and he will soon have more time to land that well paying job that he seeks.

Edit: I was employed by The Future Now and was contracted out to various other companies.

Any temp workers I have ever used filled out a time card from the temp agency, the temp agency billed us, and the temp agency paid the temp. If they went over 8 in a day or 40 in a week there was overtime pay. The hiring company uses temp agencies for several reasons. Temporary work loads, trying out people before hire (you pay finders fees in that case), and just saving the HR hassle. The hire company pays a lot more than what the temp agency pays as the agency covers workers comp, UE (in some cases), FICA, HR costs, overhead, etc, and makes an evil profit. All things that we did not have to cover but it did add up to about double the temps hourly rate. Of course as you hire more professional people that ratio changes because of the $/hr difference. I have never heard of a temp agency using a salary but there could be some negotiated contracts for longer terms which we never used.

I give this fable ZERO BONGS as I do in any story where a DUche claims to be working.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

So, let's see if I got this right...

You don't get rewarded with extra money (and in the DUmmies' eyes, unneeded) for working harder than normal. And you think that's a fault of capitalism?

Baloney!! If he works for a temp agency, then the agency gets compensated for the time he puts in. Is a temp agency going to let a temp employee work 10 hours a week above what they report? No way. That's 10 hours of income lost by the temp agency. And we're talking the People's Democratic of Kalifornia here.  It's a lie just to complain about how capitalism is keeping down the unproductive.

OMG....I worked as an accounting temp for years and loved it.  The experience I gained from working for so many different types of companies was better than any college classes I could ever take, and they paid me to do it.

This dude is a fool.  What doesn't he undersand about the word "Temp"?  I only had to be replaced on one job and that was because it was so mind numbingly easy and monotonous I couldn't stand it.  I told my temp agency they could use me better somewhere else and they did.

77. What's the purpose of the stock market for companies other than to allow them to become bigger?

And thus, ultimately gain more power?

Yes, the stock market is the big reason why we have people not only being too rich, but also so many big companies, and as such lots of financial power in this country, enough to buy our government.

Have you guys thought that one all the way through?

AZ then calls for (of course) 91% tax on anything over $1 million.

I'm not aware of DUmmy Taverner having a new baby, though he does have children around from an earlier brief period of sobriety.

The massive flood of opiates in his system every day is a pretty effective method of birth control.

You may have confused him with the puking, unemployable alcoholic Bill Pitt, whose wife recently gave birth to someone's child.

There's no possiblity of Pitt ever having a job. Now in his forties, he's still totally dependent on a monthly allowance from his mother.

Except it doesn't actually work that way, you stupid shit.  What really happens is that after some perfunctory whining at the start of Step 2, the megacorporation realizes it can crush all its smaller competition by using its resources to comply and complain the competition out of business or make them price their stuff out of the market, and they can make even more money by buying into the technology necessary for compliance through mergers and acquisitions, then make even more money by contributing to politicians who either actually believe in the BS regulations or just like money, power and winning.  The rest of Step 2 and all of Step 4 never happens, and while Step 3 does, it's not in the way your drug-fogged mind believes.

That's been my speculation for quite a while now; the Taverner primitive does not want to be tested for drugs.  He seems to break out in a cold sweat when even just thinking of it.

However, I'm confused.
