Last edited Tue Feb 19, 2013, 10:28 PM USA/ET - Edit history (3)
Due to "massive gas explosion."

Link in a sec,,,per msnbc

Here...

http://www.necn.com/02/19/13/Gas-line-explosion-in-Kansas-City-Mo/landing.html?blockID=832053&feedID=11106

My comment...infrastructure...that is all.

More details.

The fire that resulted from the explosion at JJ’s restaurant, 910 W. 48th St., about 6 p.m. was upgraded to a four-alarm blaze. The fire was reported under control at 8:16 p.m.

Police are now shrinking the perimeter around the explosion site to a two or three-block radius.

According to officials, the explosion took place at about 6 p.m. Tuesday at the restaurant in the Country Club Plaza shopping and dining district.

Berardi said firefighters were called at about 5:15 p.m. with a report that a construction worker had hit a gas line near the restaurant. Firefighters talked to utility workers and left the area. The explosion took place about 45 minutes later and the fire burned for about 50 minutes until it was brought under control, the fire chief said.

The utility, Missouri Gas Energy, which supplies the area, said in a statement that “early indications are that a contractor doing underground work struck a natural gas line.”

Actually, she's been worse than this today.

Earlier she reported--in General Discussion, not in the California forum--about some minor highway in San Diego being closed.

Ya know, I don't know if you remember this, but a long time back, when I was stationed there (in fact had just gotten off of Westpac) there was a gentleman--for lack of better description--who had stolen a tank from a National Guard armory and gone on a rampage on some not-so-minor San Diego freeways before SDPD and CHP shot the guy.

Makes me wonder how she would have covered THAT.

Then again, were I still living in CA, I'd have one of those Garmin GPS devices with real-time traffic updates.  Believe you me, those things aren't "nice to have" items in SoCal, they're absolute necessities, since the radio stations seem to be way behind the curve all too often.

WTF is her obsession with infrastructure?

I get so sick of hearing the word from her the demorats.

Sounds so 50's Soviet to me.

I loved when she blamed the Super Bowl power outage on infrastructure and was called on it everyone there.

Now, now--Maxiest--do remember that like all good little proles, the Soviets had grand Five-Year Plans, which inevitably ended in failure.  But then again, look at all the "infrastructure" failures of recent times, and do consider how many of those projects were constructed by good union drones...

She's not obsessed with infrastructure. She's just recently heard someone somewhere mention something about infrastructure. You see, her cranial cavity is essentially empty so when she sees or hears a word like 'infrastructure" it ricochets around in there for a while. Before long it will escape out of one of her ears, or die of loneliness, and she'll hear a new word that will bounce around in there. Then we'll be hearing all about that new word.

It's a pattern. A trend. Suffice to say, she's crossed the Rubicon and forgot her riffle.

Well its going on years and years with her and infrastructure.

With her, I'm not so sure that her using it for years means a whole lot.

I would just about bet you that if you could go back in time you could find the exact moment that she heard (or read) someone use the word. It bounced around in her skull for a while with her tossing it about in an attempt to look intelligent. Then, instead of dying of loneliness, it bounced out of an ear. When she saw it bounce out she wrote it down and stuck it on one of her walls. Now, when something happens, she sees it on the wall, remembers it, and thinks, "this would probably be a good time to use that 'infrastructure' word again. They'll all think I'm so smart."

3. Holy ****. It's on the Plaza. Car hit a gas main. Brother lives nearby.

At least five people were seriously injured when a car struck a gas main Tuesday evening in an upscale business and shopping district of Kansas City, Mo., authorities told NBC News.

Kansas City police said the explosion occurred about 6 p.m. (7 p.m. ET) outside JJ's Restaurant in Country Club Plaza downtown.

Enormous flames tore into the night sky outside the restaurant, which was at the center of the fire and was destroyed, NBC station KSHB of Kansas City reported.

Five people with serious injuries were being transported to Saint Luke's Hospital, the hospital told NBC News. Other people were reported to be on their way to other hospitals, which said they had no details yet.

Jason Fulp, a spokesman for Missouri Gas Energy, told NBC News that he had no information on the blast. "We're trying to get our arms around it."

Witnesses told KSHB that they smelled natural gas in the area of the restaurant at least an hour before the explosion.

This is a breaking story. Please check back for developments.

KCMO is bigger than San Jose with much better infrastructure.

21. Well, have you lived there? I did, for most of my life!

I also worked for Bell there and here in California; I'm very familiar with the differences in the infrastructure of the phone systems in both places, which few people are. Californians are used to the phones going out when it rains due to neglected conduit by PacBell; SWB did things differently in their region.

If you wish to take offense that I know something you don't, well, your choice; but that wasn't my intent.

50. I worked for 9-1-1 for a few years and our phone lines always work very well. SWB did its job in this area , lol.

I do remember attending a conference and visiting with a woman who had recently moved to the area (think it was Kansas) for a manager job. She was from SCal and was impressed with the phone lines here. She said they had problems "back home" with moisture.

I'd hesitate to say that Kansas City is up to date as Omaha, but for a certainty it's just as modern as San Diego.

Your little freak show might play in some of the more brain-dead sections of Hillcrest, but dearest, even the other fag hags would be repelled by your mere presence.

Besides, you silly little woman, don't you know that in San Diego, there's no life north of 8 or east of 5?  Poof--begone!
