1. Gas overseas is like 3x that price, and has been for decades

That is why they have smart cars and not the gas guzzlers Americans seem to gauge themselves on.

In effect, more mass transit, more car pool
more one trip instead of 20 a day would be good to stop waste

And if only people didn't vote 3rd party in 1980 and 2000 and we listened to the great Jimmy Carter, none of this would have been a problem.

Yet another thing I blame Ralph Nader and John Anderson for.

How possibly could Nader have said Gore and Bush were the same, when Gore was the #1 nominee ever on the green side.
Funny that Nader in real life didn't care about his own pet issue when he threw the race to Bush.

URGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh

Newsflash, DUmmies--Gore doesn't give a shit about the environment, if you look at his house (houseS, plural) their energy consumption, and the private jet he flies around on.

No, he, like any good snake oil salesman, found something that scares the shit out of you, and gullible little sheep you are, give him money hand over fist to act like the Elmer Gantry soulless preacher of mother Gaia he is.

It normally takes a couple weeks for the price at the pump to reflect the price of a barrel of crude.

And I noticed that the DUmmie in her rant against 3rd Party Candidates conveniently left out Ross Perot.

Many of those Environmentalist nuts in that part of the country are against drilling and pro green energy. Looks like they are just going to have to suck up 4 dollar plus gas prices.  :bawl:

I don't get that.  If every one of Anderson's voters had voted instead for the miserable failure, he maybe would have picked up another state or two, but that election wasn't even close.

BTW, three weeks ago, local gas was $2.82. When I went to town today to grocery shop, the same station had $3.59. On the news this morning, it was claimed the choke point is at the refineries.....getting ready for the new ethanol formulation.

Straight from the Communist News Network today:

32 days of higher gas prices comes at tough time

http://money.cnn.com/2013/02/17/news/economy/gas-prices/

Funny though I haven't heard much from DU on the matter.

From 2005:

Quote

Dean: Bush Needs to Take High Road on Gas Price Crisis

WASHINGTON, Aug. 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released today by the Democratic National Committee:

Because President Bush and the Republicans in Congress have failed to take action to reduce skyrocketing gas prices, state and local governments across the country are being forced to take matters into their own hands.

This week, the state of Hawaii became the first state in the nation to cap wholesale gas prices, and USA Today reported that rising gas prices have forced state and local governments to consider laying off workers, raising local taxes and cutting back on essential services. (Reuters, 8/25/05; USA Today, 8/24/05)

"President Bush has sat on his hands as ordinary Americans and their communities have been blindsided by skyrocketing gas prices," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. "While oil companies have enjoyed record profits, President Bush's lack of leadership has allowed the gas price crisis to spiral out of control, leaving painful decisions to state and local governments. It is time for President Bush and the Republicans in Washington to put the pedal to the metal and steer us toward a sound strategy for reducing gas prices."

I find this shit is so ****ing infuriating.  The myopic view of these out of touch urban shitheads is insufferable.

News Flash, Bumble....80% of the US is rural land, where distance between towns doesn't allow for "more car pool, more mass transit" as well as the vast amounts of goods moved via diesel truck across the nations' interstates.  Our population and square mileage is staggeringly larger than that of most European nations, and our commerce depends on reasonable gas prices to keep the prices of everything else in check.  You can't just assume "more mass transit" is the answer.

Spoken like a true DUmmie that's never left the city, and probably doesn't even own a car...

Atman lives in crowded, congested eastern Connecticut.

I'm not familiar with the status of mass transit in eastern Connecticut, but I reasonably assume it's better than the status of mass transit in many other parts of the country.

If Atman doesn't like the gasoline prices, he could probably take a bus.

So....I go to this:

http://www.ectcinc.com/index_files/gettingaroundect2011.pdf

Disregarding the predominant stuff about services for the aged and the poor and the disabled, it appears there's plenty of options for regular people, such as Atman, to use mass transit in eastern Connecticut.

Hell, one can even devise one's own personal bus route:

Quote
Easy Street®

Easy Street® is a statewide commuter van service sponsored by ConnDOT and operated by The Rideshare Company. It was designed to help people who live or work in Connecticut get to their jobs.

The Easy Street® fleet is made up of 7-passenger minivans as well as 12 and 15-passenger full-size vans. Fares are per seat, payable at the beginning of each month.

Currently with over 300 routes across the state, Easy Street® may have a route to meet your needs. If not, consider creating a route of your own. It’s easy to do that too. Starting an Easy Street® minivan requires a driver and five full-time riders. A 12-passenger van requires a driver and eight full-time riders. Drivers of full-size
vans ride free and enjoy 140 free miles monthly. While drivers of minivans pay the same fare as the riders, they enjoy 250 free miles monthly. That adds up to 3,000 miles annually.

Vans are fully insured. Gasoline and maintenance are included.
Contact Rideshare at 1-800-972-3279 for more information.

With all that mass transit available, one wonders why Atman even bothers owning a motor vehicle.

That's the deal; Atman can probably dream up 1,103,278 reasons why he needs his own personal motor vehicle, but they all boil down to simply one reason: that he's "special," while the rest of us aren't.
