For those that quote Benjamin Franklin...why aren't you consistent?
I keep hearing Franklin's quote about keeping it, and I answer with Jefferson.

Thomas Jefferson wrote all MEN are created equal and was talking about perhaps 40% OF THE PEOPLE THERE at that time
He neglected to mention blacks, women and slaves

Then they forgive Jefferson and say he is a product of his time, blah blah blah blah blah blah

So, if Thomas Jefferson's words then have to be formulated different in 2013 from their ABSOLUTE MEANING

then it goes without saying, That Benny's statement on "it's theirs if they can keep it"
needs to be applied to 2013 terms

and in 2013, to keep it, different means need to be applied.
Drones for instance, and to reinterpret in 2013 what the 2nd means

You can't dismiss Jefferson being a vile person, just make that hand motion to wave it by,
without also changing Franklin's meaning.

Get it?

this ain't you grandfathers or great grandfathers or even father's USA.
This is 2013.
real bad things happen now, that aren't from the old cold war countries and old 1700s or 1800s days.

This is 2013

Thank you and of course, this is IMHO only, feel free to argue it.

also, vice presidents and other leaders no longer have duels in the street with guns(or whatever the 'ell you call what they shot at each other with).

DUmmy grahamnumberanything is clearly afflicted with the crazy brains.

But he'll need to salt in a lot more arrogance, pomposity, and comical ignorance before we can demand a DNA sample.

The first DUmpmonkey that came to mind.  :lmao:
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

12. just one of these is a waste of day for someone in a wellness program. 300 plus calories

It is probably about 300 calories plus in each little one

Better to have a salad.

NO dressing though. Zero calories in a salad with no dressing.

Why do people wish to ruin a salad with a bucket of goo on top of it?

Either lettuce tastes good or it doesn't.

Kimberly:  "Grahamcrackers."  I wish I'd thought of that first.

A long time back heard a preacher or religious speaker once say that all men are indeed created equal, but that doesn't mean that they stay equal. Conservative Cave and DemocratUnderground is pretty good evidence that he was correct. All of us here and all of them there, for the most part, came into being in the womb equal.

Take a look at us now.
The members of DemocratUnderground want to be subservient to the government. The members of ConservativeCave want the government to be subservient to the people. By any calculations, with the exception of 1+1 = potato, this makes the members of ConservativeCave superior to the members of DemocratUnderground.

If everyone is telling you you deserve something, vote for the one who is promising you the least. Be suspicious of the man or woman who tell you deserve everything. Because you don’t.” ---Mike Rowe

Okay...let's see if I can parse this. We're talking here about "all men are created equal" and Ben Franklin's response "A Republic, if you can keep it". Evidently the issue is Jefferson using the generic term "men" instead of "men, women, blacks, Latinos, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexual and damned confused". Thus, in order to bring Jefferson to 2013 you have to pretend, if he said this today, he'd make sure to include all our special, protected classes.

But Franklin's quote isn't gender specific. In fact, the question was supposedly posed by a woman. So this can't be a gender issue here. I'm confused.

Okay, Jefferson is a bad guy because he used "men" (still considered a generic word for everyone) but we can brush this aside. But do we still get to keep the quote if we add all the protected classes? And how do we change Franklin's meaning? How does one affect the other?

And were there really NO bad things happening before now? Revolutionary War, Civil War, both WW's, murder, rape, robbery were better then?

I've always thought the essence of Franklin's comment was more about the perils of internal dissension and pursuit of self-interest (Both the very touchstones of DU and Progressive stalwarts) than about combating foreign enemies.  Well, there's nothing the Dems won't pervert to justify themselves, I suppose.

Can you imagine Slow Joe in a duel??

During a speech in Munich on his current European tour, he told them he is sent on trips to places the President doesn't want to go.
