A question to the Cave
« on: January 23, 2013, 06:52:15 AM »
Not all that long ago I begin writing a piece about a legendary figure. I didn't get too far along before I put it to the side. You know how it is. I got busy doing fictional spirit-guiding and just didn't have time to work on it.

After reading about nadin's parrots I'm beginning to rethink things. She says that they don't do creative fiction writing, but if they did it would be impressive if it weren't so bad and cardboard like. I'm thinking that if the parrots see another bird (well, part bird) like me do some writing it may encourage them. I think most of us can agree that we need more birds writing.

Just keep in mind that the piece I was working on is not really a creative fiction piece. As it is essentially based on revelations by the very subject of the piece it would probably be better viewed as a speculative historical piece. Still, seeing a bird (well, part bird) like me writing anything may give the parrots the incentive to blossom into writers in the own right.

So tell me Cavers, should I continue with the piece? Or just let it flounder in the dust bin?

If the answer is to continue, I'll go ahead a post the first part this afternoon. Then post the remainder as I work on it.

For new members and lurkers: I am a fictional spirit-guide with no smell whatsoever. I am part irish setter and part pigeon. If you don't smell any strange smells it means I'm probably standing next to you. As I am a fictional character anything I post should possibly be considered fictional.

Go for it.

Give it your best shot, Flips.

But the deal is, even your bad shots are pretty damned good.

Not sure what the hell you are talking about, however it does ring a bell from a few years ago.

Remember the Furbys toys that were banned from government offices.  Sees that these little fellas could pick up conversations and repeat them at unexpected times.

Perry Mason  had a show in  the1950's  called The Case of the Perjured Parrot.   All things to consider as you write.     Go for it,  sounds interesting, 101 ways to to work a bird into a story. and don't foget a crow with its toungue split a also repeat what they hear------Edger Allen Poe------Never More.

Well, remember Flippy, nads has to use the SD Union Tribune, or the SD Gay and Lesbian Times to line the parrot cage rather than the rag she "works" for, because dammit, even parrots have to have a little pride.

I say go for it as well. When she finds out that someone that has none of her worldly experience can basically pound her sorry butt into the ground with better writing and fact checking it should be awesome to see her head explode.
