I've gone to the Dollar General, not my favorite place to shop, but it is hardly "Walmart for people who can't afford Walmart"
My town built a brand new DG, at my end of town. It's very convenient. My town is spread out over 25 square miles and before this, all the stores were in one center part of town.
It always has cars in the parking lot. A great place to stop and pick up milk and a few grocery items when I don't want to fight the crowds at the bigger store.
Some of the older stores, especially the ones I remember in Illinois were pretty dirty, and I did not care to shop there.
