If I owned a cap gun, I'd get rid of it too.  :mental:

7. How does one ensure they are destroyed?

I'm inheriting some weapons from my father, who passed this week. The heirloom hunting rifles I will keep and pass on to my son. They will be kept in a locked gun cabinet, in a locked room. There will be no ammunition in the house. I don't know if my father owns anything semi-automatic or repeating, but if he did, they have fired their last shot. I would prefer to watch them be destroyed.

Your own father's collection, he's barely in the grave, and you want to destroy his collection?  You are scum, and do not deserve this inheritance.  I hope your father haunts you in scary ways.

Correct about DUmmy Warpy. She's the DUmmy who appears to be the twin sister of President von Hindenberg. After her narrow escape from narcotics charges in the blue hellhole of New England, she exiled herself, I believe, to the wilds of New Mexico.

The DUmp dick inspector, who by her own account has checked out over ten thousand of them, is DUmmy Horse with no Brain. She mops floors in a hospital, and lives in a dusty, crappy trailer park in east Texas with her slutty daughter. She recently started a storyline about a complete inside and out remodel on an imaginary house. It was to include a new kitchen, new roof, new bathroom, new stone exterior, etc., for under thirty thousand dollars.

Well now there are many things one can do with used 10x50 foot trailers. To my surprise I saw them in  the south west.

Head on out and look for mobile homes stripped of everything, may cost you $3000 bucks to get  two  hauled to your site.   If you have a function mobile home just place them at each end to make a U form.

Inside the U one can put in a pool or garden, go hog wild with Ideas.  The additions to the home need a few walls knocked out for entrances to the new unites but that won't cost but $300 each.

The ones I saw were fantastic, a little imagination and  what have you and and the home is triple in size, for when it comes to $30.000 just nickles and dimes.

Don't like the kitchen, paint the sucker, put down Linoleum in the the kitchen and bathroom, buy new furniture  and drapes.  ------Spend some of that money on a hot tub for the inside of the U.  Screw the outside, put your money into what you will enjoy inside the home.

I have seen 3 homes built like this in the South West, are memorable.

I have a shotgun for the same reason I have a fire extinguisher and learned CPR....hoping I never have to use it, but it's available should I ever (God forbid) need it.

False security when one gets anything yet does not practice with it for a long time.

When was the last time you checked on the fire extinguisher to make sure it was still pressurized ???  Do you update your CPR every year.  So much changes from year to year, much of the 10 year old classes have been changed in CPR, new and better ways to do it.  Have you had your protective Hep. shots lately ???  Can you run a defibrillator, if so, what has changed in the last few years or will change next year ????

I have carried a Tazer since '84'  I change the battery every year and transfer it from purse to purse but I forget I have it, not allot of good to me but a false security of some sort.   Much like holding a fire drill for the family just once and in 5 years expecting the kids to remember how to get out and where to meet up.

Security means practice, being aware of your surroundings and knowing your tools inside and out.  Speaking of tools, have you checked on the Ammo for your shot gun ?????   Chemical changes do take place with age, not a good idea to keep 20-30 year old ammo around.

Check the fire extinguisher every day.

I work in the medical industry, so I am required to up my CPR every year.

I used to teach FA/CPR/AED for the Red Cross, and am a trained and licensed paramedic (PM me if you want to check this out in the Texas database), so not oly do I know how to use an AED, but a full blown cardiac monitor/defibrillator. There's one not 20 feet from me at work. Oh, and I have all my shots.

I buy new ammo every year during bird season as my father did when I was growing up. It's stored indoors.

What about you, vesta? Are you up to date on all of that stuff?

If people aren't trained in First Aid or CPR or both, might I suggest you get trained. Contact your local Red Cross, American Heart, or National Safety Council. End of pitch.

I doubt it, vesta. The Taser brand electric shock device was first sold in 1993. I think you're talking about a stun gun instead.

If you are carrying a 28 year old stun gun in your purse, don't count on it. Even at its best, it only works at contact distance. Deploying a stun gun from a purse and using one while grappling or being choked would take skill, practice, and a ton of luck.

Absolutely wrong.  Twenty to thirty years is nothing.

Powder and primers pretty much last forever under normal storage conditions.

I have a can of Red Dot that I bought in the early 80s, and wouldn't hesitate to use it today.

The only change with age that can be a problem is really old shotgun ammunition that used cardboard tubes.

They can absorb moisture and swell to where they won't chamber smoothly.

Unfortunately it is very corrosive and most used Mercury in the primers.

My dad had a bunch of it for plinking in his Mauser 98 that had been rebarreled to .30-06.  Man, was that a bitch to clean after shooting that shit!  Thankfully, he didn't have that much, and we shot it all up a loooooong time ago.
