VELVET MAKES A NEW FRIEND

Last week, Red and I took care of her granddaughters' 8 week old Chihuahua puppy, Sophie. Velvet had a great time playing with her. Sophie bounced up to Velvet and ran headfirst into her feet; Velvet just cocked her head to one side and looked down at the ornery little shit.

Velvet and I volunteered for the local United Way's fall event, packaging meals for local poor families.

Velvet "had to" wear a hair net. She kept it on for about 10 seconds!

Yesterday, we had a small earthquake near Conway Springs, KS (about 120 miles south), and we felt it in Smallville.

Some new pictures:

We went to a bar for a bourbon and live music. It was supposed to be Bluegrass night, but the singer was a whiny emo-folk type, and her guitar was probably out of tune. Velvet wedged herself in a corner with her ears down. I turned my hearing aid off during the first song, drank my bourbon expeditiously, and we left during the second song.


Going for coffee one evening (owebumazombie knows this coffee house), Velvet charmed a kid at the next table- behind my back. I turned around and found this:


On the set of our public access TV show, Liberty TV. Velvet appears in the end credits, and is named in the credits as part of the crew.



And...


It's a rainy morning here in Smallville. I made the bed when I got up, but Velvet rearranged the covers and the pillows for her comfort.

so...been there and done that.
I forgot to get the coffee mug for it.

We had a few rough days here at the Doghouse.

Velvet had some kind of intestinal bug, and had diarrhea on and off from Wednesday evening until 2:00 this morning. We left work early Thursday, took leave time in the middle of the day on Friday, and stayed home this weekend.  Neither of us got much rest over the past 4 nights.

She drank plenty of water, but still got dehydrated. I cooked rice with chicken broth, mixed it in with her food, and kept her on half rations. She had three baths in 4 days, which didn't do anything to help her mood either. To her great credit, she only made a mess in the house once, on Wednesday night, because she lost control before she could wake me up. She was really upset, but it was OK.

Today is a day of rest, and we'll go for a drive with the windows down this afternoon. She should be good as new in a couple of days.
