eBay has some ridiculously stupid prices.  Some sellers were advertising an electrical switch I needed for $150... I found the same part from another seller for $30.
If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.

So basically only the "rich" are going to be able to afford to buy black market twinkies?

Rush just said that people are signing a petition from "we the people" and people signing it want the Government to take over Twinkies production, the only thing though, the "we the people" website is run by Obama?

Bill Ayers is a member of the Unions Board of Directors?

Bill Ayers, the puppet master behind the Obama puppet.

IIRC, it was just one of the unions--the bakers' union--that killed Hostess.  The Teamsters and all of the other unions had signed onto the deal.  So, the bakers' union is probably on a Teamsters blacklist.  Not terribly smart. :hammer:

That's the way I understand it too. Even the Teamsters thought they were being unreasonable. Try to wrap your mind around THAT.

Damn you, primitives, damn you all to Hell.

I suppose one can blame the demise of Hostess to disruptive labor union practices that break a business, but part of the blame lies on the shoulders of the primitives, who enthusiastically support such practices.

I'm supposed to get a haircut at 3:00 this afternoon, and so was going to wait until then to get something I've never had in my life, a Hostess Ho-Ho, at the convenience store in town.

On the Head of St. John the Baptist, that's God's honest truth; franksolich in his whole life has never consumed a Hostess product.  Nothing against the company; it just happens franksolich doesn't have a sweet tooth.

But after hearing all the news about such products rapidly evaporating from store shelves, at 1:30 I hopped into the car and dashed to town.

Remember where I live; there's not exactly many people out here on the eastern slope of the Sandhills of Nebraska.

I got to town, dashed into the store, rushed to the Hostess display shelves.....and no Hostess Ho-Hos.

There were still a couple of packages of Hostess "snowballs" (?--not sure) and two of pastry, and one of two orange cupcakes.

I bought the last item, the orange cupcakes, as I wasn't too enamored of the other choices.

But franksolich got no Ho-Hos.  Not a Ho-Ho.

franksolich is going to go to his grave never having tried that American original, a Hostess Ho-Ho.

Damn the ****ing primitives all to Hell.

It's incredible.

Hostess survived the Great Depression, but it's not surviving Barack Milhous.

Hostess was formed when the Great Depression was starting in 1930. It survived Great Depression, 1970s Stagflation, and early 1980s Recession.

Many years ago my Grandmother would buy them at the "day old bread store" owned by Hostess. They were wrapped individually inside the box in thin aluminum foil. It was a real treat to have one of those as a kid. My Grandfather was a disabled WW II vet, and they also owned a small business that was a labor of love. Things that were pre-made out of a box were a true treat.

Now they are a treat, compliments of the taxpayers, with one swipe of an EBT card for many.....

I liked how the one DUmmie was claiming the union was trying to save O'bamacare .... except the union is exempt from it.

One box of Twinkies has a starting bid of $49.99,
I assume a "box" is a bunch of packages, but still..for Twinkies that's crazy.

I'd consider it for SnoBalls, though.

The Sno-Balls were always my favorite.  They use to come in a package with one white and one pink Sno-Ball.  They were delicious.  That was back when they had twice the flavor and half the sugar.

All the kids would eat the pink one first.

As you can guess, I just never paid much attention to the junk food section of grocery stores.

In fact, even if it's one of these mega-massive supermarkets with acres of space and miles of aisles, I usually just grab a shopping cart, hike over to the dairy-and-eggs section, and am out of the store in a couple, three, minutes.

And now for another blast from the past, guess who's name turns up in the Hostess Mess  :thatsright:

Quote
Tim Collins of Ripplewood, was a prominent Democrat, a position which allowed him to get involved in the first bankruptcy process in the first place, due to his proximity with the Teamsters' long-term heartthrob Dick Gephardt (whose consulting group just happens to also be an equity owner of Hostess).

DUmmies won't be liking this turning of the screw.   :lmao:

Vulture capitalism at its finest.   Kama baby, kama or dem on dem action.  Don't get me wrong it sucks to see so many people lose their jobs at the start of the holiday season.  Lots of people will be on kibbles and bits before this is all over but Dick Gephardt won't be one.

ETA just fond the obit for Twinkie the Kid ( more or less ) worth a read.

Can't remember the last time I had a Twinkie and I rarely got the cupcakes. Hated the Sno-balls.

But DingDongs and HO-HO's....

Oh my.

I thought they were great! Always had them in the house when my daughter was growing up and until she left home. My son is not much of a sweet eater, so he didn't really care. J and I could devour a box of them in a day.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Zeit, your little revelation should indicate that ol' Dickie Gephardt might not like the bakers' union, then . . . :fuelfire:

I'm not worried about Twinkies and HoHos.

They will be back in full, non-union production very soon.

My concern is for the creme de la creme, SnoBalls.

And for people who shun them due to a misguided dislike of coconut, please note those are "coconut-flavored flakes".

I don't care if they're the white ones or the pink ones.

Doesn't matter - the food coloring is tasteless - they are great American cuisine.

Let's hope SnoBalls survive this bump in the road.
