I got Chanterelles!

SO is bringing them home from our connection. Too bad I'm allergic because they use to be near the top of my list of favorite foods..... Tonight he's having risotto and tomorrow Chicken with Chanterelle and Champagne. It's so not fair...but there's no reason for us both to suffer..... I'll sniff longingly, and remember....and come up with that list of how he's gonna make this up to me....  

^^^in case one doesn't know, the imperious primitive is significantly overweight, lives on the west coast (Washington, I think), and has a gay son who's been "married," I dunno, six or half a dozen times.

I am a bit mushroom ignorant... but are they good for a cream of mushroom soup? Or is that a waste of a good Chanterelle?

I am in pursuit of the best cream of mushroom soup, so your thread caught my attention.

I think they're mushrooms.

It's the kind of thing 1-percenters like Mitt Romney would enjoy.  You'd think the DUmmies would be aghast at one of their own being able to afford them.

Yeah, they're mushrooms.  Never tried chanterelles myself; I like mushrooms to a degree, and will go out looking for morels in the Spring, but I've never had any that I thought justified all the mystique these prminitives imbue to a mere fungus.

Ya gotta remember, DAT, that they grow a lot of fungi, both on their bodies and ones that they eat to escape reality.  So, they can justify it.

Mushrooms are one of my favorite foods.  I remember having to convince my girlfriend (now my wife) that mushrooms were indeed edible.   :lmao:
