Here's a thought, perhaps a more strategic one:
Barry and his thugs agreed to the first of three debates - subject: Domestic Policy vis a vis THE ECONOMY - knowing that the first debate would be (so goes the bet) LEAST in the minds of voters in November.
Of course, Ryan and Plugs have their fun in the sun next Thursday, subject also Domestic and Foreign Policy.
Then the next two "debates" (agree with Ausonius in that they're not really debates, they're pressers) deal with foreign and domestic issues in a town meeting format (any bets as to how much of this is going to address Barry's alleged "success" with foreign policy?).
And then the final debate which is supposed to focus on foreign policy - again, Barry's alleged "success story."
Of course, Romney appears to be well-prepared enough to handle any subject, any format, but Barry has generally done well in a town meeting format (where the questions are scripted and determined ahead of time).
I'll say it again - this is not the time for Romney to rest on his laurels. He's gotta keep the pressure on.
