My GOP "friends" do not get it. I ask them "What if everyone had a Masters Degree"??

The GOP thinks everyone with out their salary level is lazy, unmotivated, stupid. So they do not deserve what the successful people have.

The GOP never think they are "lucky". They think they earned everything. And anyone not in their class didn't work hard enough.

What a bunch of hogwash!

Lets say, everyone was equally educated. Everyone had a masters degree. Everyone could afford it. Or the government paid for it.

That would mean, SOMEONE still needs to work at McDonalds, someone still needs to dig ditches, someone would still need to work at a part time job with no benefits. These people would all have the same education. They just didn't get lucky enough to find jobs in their field. Even with their education.

What you are telling these people is that since you cannot find a good enough job, you do not deserve Health Care or Dental Care or a 401K plan. Or a minimum wage above the poverty level.

How can any caring person not sympathize with a person who did not get the breaks they did? I agree, not everyone deserves the same salary as someone who is very successful. But they deserve healthcare and a non-poverty wage. They also deserve a non-poverty living after they retire.

It seems so simple. Those of us who have it much better than the ones who do not, pay a little more. That might mean a little less vacation every year. That might mean buying a $40,000 car instead of a $50,000 car. But the payback is worth it.

How the GOP can be the "religious" party or the "moral" party is the biggest farce they have ever perpetrated.

I honestly do not know how a GOP supporter can not live in guilt.

Ok fellow cavers what salary level must I be at to not be considered lazy, unmotivated and stupid?
I have never heard any conservative say anything remotely like that. The only people I have heard to referred as such are people who sit at home all day posting on DU how much life sucks then demands more and more free stuff. In fact conservatives praise those who go out and work and take care of themselves no matter what income level they are at.

This notion that people who are successful got there by luck is hog wash. Yeah some folks get breaks like 0bama has where they can skate through life, but most of us have worked our fingers to the bone, and tried to be responsible with our money and pay our bills instead of partying all the time.

What exactly should I feel guilty for by voting republican?

I don't care how much you make as long as you are trying and manning up. Unlike the lazy freeloading welfare bums and disability scam artists from the DUmp.

The only people concerned with how much anyone makes is the DUmmies, then if it is more than they think you should have they get all pissed off.
They are pathetic jealous, sad, and bitter people.

No.

What we're saying is if you pay them $20/hr plus 100% coverage with no out of pocket expenses the cost of the products and services they provide will be such that they STILL won't have living wages or benefits because they have priced themselves out of the market.

You can bitch about it being "unfair" all you want but it's a common fact of life that consumers only buy what they can afford.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Never gonna happen.  Some people are just natural stupid, i.e. most DUmmies.  But not just them, some people are not cut out for academic studies.  I'm one of those people.

If everyone had a Master's Degree, it would be the same as paying everyone the same or paying a "living wage".  Inflation would explode.

As for the rest of that drivel, I know nobody who thinks that way.  I work with CEOs, Presidents, VP's, Directors, and managers and I'm the lowest man on the totem pole.  They're all people who wake up in the morning and go to work like the rest of us.  Maybe if you stopped pretending life was a Flintstones cartoon, you might learn something.

Another thing we've learned from watching DUmmies... if everyone had a Master's degree, nothing would get done in this country because we would have liberals who thought they were too good to take a lower paying job than what they felt they "deserved".

Generally, anyone who is working and not taking from society is far more motivated and intelligent to me, in my book, than anyone of any salary (or lack of) who advocates taking from society. I don't mean legitimate uses of societal money whom are truly deserving, such as veterans or unique situations, but for the most part, everyone is capable of producing for themselves, either as an employee, employer, or independent contractor.

If everybody had a master's degree then a master's degree would mean nothing.  A Bachelor's Degree was significant at one point, now they are a dime a dozen and they don't indicate much about a person's intelligence, aside from certain fields.  Companies expect secretaries to have Bachelor's degrees, and that was a job that my grandmother was fully prepared for when she graduated from High School.

This is why jobs with requirements for Bachelor's degrees are paying minimum wage... over-educated DUmmies with government-funded educations have saturated the market and priced themselves out of a job.  Union goons with inflated job demands haven't helped at all.

America has priced itself out of the world market and liberals are to blame.

Teachers are too busy chasing tenure to grade papers.  Slap a number on them and get on with your fancy paper.

I did some work for Vanderbilt University... some of the "departments" are nothing more than multi-room dorms with desks instead of beds.

I was listening to one of my business radio shows the other day, and they were saying that 45% of the jobs in the US require a baccalaureates degree or higher; and only 32% of the country has one.

I admire people who courageously take on hard working jobs, even menial ones, and are punctual and reliable, regardless of salary earned. That goes for any honest work.

Who the hell needs a masters degree....

Any half decent skilled tradesman will run you close to $100 / hr and that's just mon-fri rates.

Odds are pretty good that not a huge number of the people with advanced degrees make that much.

Think society would be better if everyone had a masters degree ? Just wait until your toilet backs up while you're out appreciating some art, or critiquing some feminist literature. Who ya' gonna call ?

I doubt they would understand this, but if you're paying everyone $20/hr those McDonald's singles would cost .......$20.00.

If everyone had a Master's Degree, the Master's Degree would be without value as a discriminator in economic decisions. The new benchmark for education would be a PhD. Wanna be a manager at McD's? Better go to their Hamburger PhD program. Wanna get a job as an exec at a Fortune 500? Better get a PhD in business management.

DUmbasses. If everyone has something, especially if it's free, it has no value (like air, which you don't pay for and don't notice until you don't have any).

They do "labor" under the delusion that all Republicans are wealthy, don't they?  It's just so far beyond their capacity for "thought" to believe that many people vote for values that don't include gimmes from Uncle Sam.

You'd think that somewhere between whining about Republicans having too many kids and the differences in the Party Platforms, they'd gradually get the idea that many of us don't want Uncle Sam to pay our bills, raise our children, or even really provide the kind of left-slanted education now allowed in public schools.   ::)

Interestingly most of the major hospitals around here are hiring only people with BSN's(nursing) now. The big conglomerate that runs most of the hospitals are attempting to make all of them magnet hospitals so many nurses with 2 year degrees are going back to school.

A lot of it depends on your field. Take Psychology for example; in order to get a job that is actually in the field of being a psychologist, you need to have a masters degree or higher. With a Bach all you can pretty much be is an assistant. It is like that in a lot of sciences.

Other masters degrees are gotten because it betters their career, which is why I am going for an MBA...

It also depends on the person. Some people want one, and some are content with what they have.

This is not saying that doing a trade is a bad thing, it is actually a great thing. As with a trade you can make just as much as someone with a masters degree. The only difference is that one is white collar and the other is blue collar. There is nothing wrong with either of them as long as you are doing what you love.

"What if everyone had a Masters Degree"??

Then you'd have more illiterates with Masters Degrees.  50 years ago, you were READY to go to college--none of this "remedial" crap.  Now, over half of entering freshmen in the Cal State system (I've heard as high as 70 percent) require remedial Math, English, or both.

You have people obtaining undergraduate degrees who do not know basic American History or civics.  You have graduate students who have trouble with basic rules of punctuation and sentence structure.  It's not an education anymore--it's a money-grab by academia to get as much of that "gubmint" cash as possible while leaving far too many of their graduates with questionable marketability.

You want an education, DUmmies?  Get into a field you enjoy, and make a living at that.  Who cares if you're making $20K/year or $200K/year?  I fall on the high side of in between those numbers, have only a Bachelor's, and frankly didn't need the degree to get into the field in which I currently work.  It's called ATTITUDE and EXPERIENCE that make you stand out of the crowd.
